with warmth. With a good six months of decision making, the designer incorporated his own favorite

In the living area, two plush armchairs and a curvy sofa — inspired by Gio
Ponti — are clad in Castel’s brilliant blue and white cotton blend fabric. A rectangular,
glass cocktail table with hand-blown Murano glass legs by Archimede Seguso centers
the space, while Sahco’s decadent draperies from Donghia provide color continuity.
Intentionally blurring the boundaries between inside and out, the hand-painted ceramic tile flooring
flows through the main living areas to the terrace. Its Gio Ponti-designed motif from Italy creates an illusion
of dimension with shades of blue and white. Not only durable to withstand the elements of the outdoors,
the dining set designed by Maurizio Tempestini — found at an Italian auction — complements the flooring
magnificently by offsetting the geometric pattern with its curvaceous swirl back chairs. The glass top is

Strikingly handsome and taller than the average buffet, this vintage cabinet by
designer Osvaldo Borsani creates interest with a veneer of exotic Macassar ebony and
green back-painted, cut-out glass doors. Finishing touches make all the difference as
hand-blown Murano glass lamps from Barovier & Toso sit pretty on top.
In the master bedroom, a retro beach scene by contemporary artist
Massimo Vitali hangs above the bed, while a metal version of the typical
wood plank bench, Milo Baughman’s piece from Thayer Coggin, rests
at its foot. Vik, a boastful self-portrait by artist Vik Muniz, is a Brazilian

delicate yet durable and light, and was chosen to showcase the beauty of the floor. “I didn’t want anything
to obstruct the flow,” Andrisani says.
The living area is filled with pleasures of the past as it unfolds with a mid-century setting that is modestly
eye-catching upon entry. Between the curvaceous sofa and armchairs lies a classic rectangle glass table
that is not so typical with hand-blown Murano glass legs by Archimede Seguso. Two dark blue movable
benches offer a surprise element of natural wood. “It’s the only wood in the room … I wanted to break up
the consistency of the color,” Andrisani says.

AS AN ARCHITECT, LUCA ANDRISANI KNOWS VERY WELL THAT IT‘S NOT ONLY
AESTHETICS THAT MAKE A HOME SO SPECIAL, BUT IT IS ALSO THE INGENUITY
BEHIND IT — WHICH IS WHY HE GUTTED THE SPACE, INCORPORATED POCKET
DOORS, AND CREATED AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS SPACIOUS AND UNBRIDLED.
