Monsters Nursery free knitted washcloth pattern
Snotty Monsters
LET’S FACE IT, babies and kids
are messy. It seemed like every
time I turned around, my kiddo
was drooling or barfing or had
a runny nose, or sometimes all
three at once. Though I relied
heavily on reusable diapers
to wipe things up, I felt like
there had to be something way
more fun! I mean if you have
to clean up drool, you might as
well clean it up in style, right?
Also, because of the yarn I
picked to knit these, they make
great washcloths to make bath
time more fun. Knit up a couple
of these for standout babyshower gifts, and then make
a dozen in different colors for
your own diaper bag!

Cut yarn and using tapestry needle,
thread through rem sts to close ear.
Normally I just call for scrap yarn
to make teeth and embroider
eyes. For this pattern, I highly
recommend using the same
type of yarn for the eyes and
the tooth. Since this is designed
to be a washcloth/wipe rag, it
is going to get wet! I picked a
great cotton yarn to be perfect
for this type of project—nice and
scrubby and washable.
With C, knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Rnd 1: Cont in C, with RS of work
facing you, sl sts from provisional
CO onto second needle tip to set up
for working in the round using Magic
Loop method. Knit back across previously worked sts and cont around to
sts on the second needle tip and beg
working in the round. (36 sts)
Switch to D.

rnds D, 2 rnds C.
Rnd 30: (Ssk, K14, K2tog) twice.
(32 sts)
Attach ears now using whipstitch.

mouth and securely attach all ends
on inside of body. Cut yarn leaving
long tail and use tapestry needle and
Kitchener st to close body.
