BLACK & WHITE CHEMISTRY FOTOSPEED
Bt20 is an Iron Blue Toner which comes in three parts to make a single working solution.
Equal parts 1,2&3 are diluted with water. Full instructions supplied on mixing ratios and
timings to achieve shades, depth and brilliance of blue tones required.
Argyrotype is a user-friendly iron-based silver printing process that produces
brown images on plain paper.
Copper/Red Toner is a liquid toner which is supplied in a two part concentrate which makes
a single working solution. It is specifically designed for the toning of Fibre and
Resin Coated B&W papers.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print.
Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost
process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints.
Gold toner is an alternative to Selenium toner and can help archival stability of your
black and white prints, although selenium is regarded as the best archival toner.
The Kit contains: 5 sheets 8x10in Canelleto paper, 5 sheets 8x10in digital contact film, 2ml
syringe 250ml solution each of: Salt - Silver & Stabilisers 1,2&3, protective gloves,buckle brush
and full detailed instructions for use. Ammonia is required to activate the silver solution and is not
supplied. This is available from most pharmacies. A buckle brush is the invention of Fox Talbot
and is a glass test tube filled with cotton wool. This is enclosed as part of the heritage aspect of
‘the kit. Any alternative brush, acrylic rod, swab or roller of your choice will be suitable.
The applicator used must have NO metal parts in contact with the solution as this will affect
the sensitising effect.
Fx20 Fixer is very long lasting and will not, as with other brands of fixer,
bleach back the prints highlights where extended fixing times are desirable.
Ld20 Lith Developer allows you to explore the art of lith printing, using selected
black & white papers, and offers the printmaker unusual and unique effects
unlike the results achieved by toning.
RA50 Rinse Aid is a highly concentrated liquid designed to greatly reduce surface
tension to allow the easy dispersion of water from the surface of photographic
materials without damaging the emulsion.
Sb50 Odorless Stop Bath from Fotospeed makes it easier to spend extended periods
of time in the darkroom, thanks to its odorless formula. This citric acid stop bath has
an indicator dye to inform you of exhaustion. The SB50 dilutes 1+19 with water and
arrests development immediately on contact, ensuring clear highlights in paper
and low fog on film.

ECLIPSE Optic Cleaning Fluid is the highest purity lens cleaner available. It dries as quickly as it can be applied,
leaving absolutely no residue. That is why ECLIPSE, when used with SENSOR SWAB ULTRA, is the only
recommended cleaner for CCD and CMOS sensor cleaning. When used with PEC*PAD photo wipes,
ECLIPSE is also safe and ideal for lens and filter cleaning.
ECLIPSE is intended for all digital sensors and all critical optics. When used with PEC*PAD photo wipes, I
t is possible to clean only the portion of the lens which is dirty, thus eliminating “hazy swirls”.
Simply dispense several drops of ECLIPSE onto a clean, folded PEC*PAD.
Wipe the surface until the dirty area has been covered.
Then slide the pad off the glass at an edge rather than lifting from the center of the surface.
Refold the pad to expose a clean side and re-wipe as necessary.
If streaks remain, use a clean pad and re-wipe as necessary.
Some experimentation may be required. Please note that other lens tissues may not work as well.
PEC*PADs are strong, non-abrasive, lint-free and pure (99.999%). They are so soft and versatile that
they can be safely used to clean all types of sensitive surfaces such as scanners, CD’s, mirrors,
lenses, telescopes, even ink jet print heads. PEC*PADs are available in two convenient sizes:
The 4 x 4 inch (10 cm.sq.) wipes are perfect for cleaning 35mm film and other small areas as well
as lenses and other sensitive optics, and the 9 x 9 inch (25 cm.sq.) wipes, which are best suited for
larger film or print formats, murals, scanners, etc.
USING PEC PADS ON PHOTOGRAPHIC EMULSIONS WITH PEC-12 :
PEC*PADs can be safely used on all hardened photographic emulsions, including films and papers.
Extreme care must be used with 35mm chromogenic film because the base of these films are very
easily scratched. PEC*PADs can also be used on coated or uncoated photographic lenses,
binoculars and telescopes without scratching delicate coatings. Put the image to be cleaned onto a
sheet of glass (light table) or onto the emulsion side of a clean old scrap RC print. Dispense a few
drops of PEC-12 onto a clean PEC*PAD. With the gentle pressure of two or three extended fingers
start at one end of the film/print to be cleaned, and smoothly move your fingers toward the opposite
end in a straight line removing contaminants from the emulsion by transferring them to the PEC*PAD.
Extremely grimy stains (such sticky tape residue) may need a second or even a third pass
(using a clean PEC*PAD and additional PEC-12). Any material applied with enough pressure will
ultimately cause scratches, but normal, prudent use of PEC*PADs will provide scratch free
cleaning of slides, negatives and prints.
