C A L O O S A T A L E S Caloosa Humane Societ0 Our mission is to serve, shelter, and protect the homeless animals in our care. Our no-kill facility provides low cost spay/neuter services to the community with the goal of reducing the extreme overpopulation of unwanted animals. Caloosa Humane Society is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) status organization that receives no federal, state, or local funding and relies on donations and fundraisers only. Newsletter Issue #3 August 2012 The Caloosa Humane Society invites you to join us at the 3rd Annual Peace Love & Paws Gala to be held Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at RiverBend Motorcoach Resort. The gala is a beautiful evening reception featuring delectable dining by Cracker Cookin & Caterin, a splendid display of silent and live auction items, a fun photo booth, and other fabulous ways to support our community animals at the shelter. The gala allows us to celebrate our mission and recognize those that make a difference in the lives of homeless pets. As a non-profit, we are still completely reliant upon fundraisers and donations from our supporters in order to continue serving our community. All proceeds from this event will go to Caloosa Humane Society to fulfill our mission. Your ongoing support ensures that we are able to respond to the growing demand of needs within our community and beyond. We value our supporters, volunteers, donors, veterinarians, and friends. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. This evening is sponsored by a very generous donor, Whiddon’s Hoe Service, Family Eye Care, Boone Electric, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Arnold, CenterState Bank, Riverworks Management LLC, Porterfield Oil Co., All Nails, E & B Cattle Corp., and Mrs. Susan Kushnier. Sponsorships are still available and welcomed. Tickets are on sale now! Tickets are $50.00 per person, you can purchase your tickets at Caloosa Humane Society or online at www.caloosahumanesociety.org. Dr. Brugler is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She not only provides medical care to our shelter animals, but also is at the helm of our new low-cost animal clinic open to the public (located at 1050 Commerce Dr., LaBelle). We asked her to share an introduction with our loyal volunteers, members, donors, and animal lovers in our area: “I grew up with 2 big brothers in a small town in West Central Ohio, which is very similar to the LaBelle area. I have always loved animals, and always knew I wanted to go into veterinary medicine. While I was in vet school at the Ohio State University I discovered the challenging, yet engaging, field of shelter medicine. I feel right at home at Caloosa Humane Society. I am really looking forward to meeting new people and providing low-cost, high-quality, compassionate care for the local animal population and community of LaBelle.” For more information on clinic hours and services, please call 863.675.0997, or visit our website at caloosahumanesociety.org. F U N D - A - N E E D “High-Five for the 2012 Fund-A-Need” We are pleased to report that the Cat Facility Expansion is progressing nicely and we would like to announce the sponsorship of two of the four indoor/outdoor cat rooms. We thank Mrs. Susan Kushnier for her very generous $10,000.00 sponsorship. Mrs. Kushnier’s Cat Room will be lovingly named Pumkin’s Cove in honor of her cat Pumkin adopted from Caloosa Humane Society last summer. We also received an anonymous $10,000.00 sponsorship from another generous donor whose Cat Room will be named in the near future. In addition to the Cat Room sponsors, an additional $7,000.00 has been donated so far for the “2012 Cat Room Fund-A-Need.” A very special shout-out of thanks to everyone who has contributed so far to this project. We could not do this for our fabulous felines without you! But we’re not done yet ... The “2012 Cat Room Fund-A-Need” will be highlighted at the upcoming “Peace Love & Paws Gala,” along with a display of the architectural 3-D rendering. Our goal is to raise a total of $40,000.00 for the “Fun in the Sun” place for our cats, with plans for construction to begin this fall. This is an artist rendering of what CHS will look like after the completed renovations. As you can see, the four new cat rooms will each have screened areas for access to healthy, fresh air and more room to play. We invite you to participate in this very special project.
