In spite of this, Moses became one of the greatest leaders in Israel’s history. Knowing that he faced challenges that far exceeded his abilities, he learned to trust God. Following Moses’ example of faithfulness, we will learn valuable spiritual lessons and how God can use the least likely when they have a servant attitude. Led by Dale Vollrath. Our next meeting date will be April 27. We are exploring a five-session DVD-based Bible study, Promised Land, by noted teacher and historian, Ray Vander Laan. It is the first of the 12-part Faith series. In it, Vander Laan explores how God guided his people to the Promised Land to impact the world both in ancient times and today. Just like the time and place of our birth shapes our journey, so the land and culture of the Hebrew people shaped their lives. By weaving together the Bible’s fascinating historical, cultural, religious, and geographical contexts, Ray Vander Laan reveals unique insights into the Scriptures’ significance for modern believers. For more information, please contact Mark Jones [email protected]. S.H.A.P.E. - Get into SHAPE before Sunday brunch! FEATURED MISSION PARTNER The JESUS Film Project A Glorious Update on Easter Sunday uring the last several months, three exciting events have taken place, which have strengthened the connections between and among the Church’s Mission Committee, our Mission Partner Advocates, and with a number of our Missionaries. First, we welcomed Missionaries who were able to be with us during the 2014 Mini-Missions Expo in January. That included a Wednesday Dinner during which Rev. Bill Cruz, at the nearby Good Samaritan Mission, was our featured speaker. This event was followed by a Saturday Luncheon which was attended by Committee Members, interested Church members, and a large number of our Missionaries in person or via videos. This gathering gave all of us excellent opportunities to get much better acquainted with each other. Our Missionaries and their Mission Partner Advocates expressed their deepest thanks for the generous “Love Offering” distributed at the end of our luncheon. spotlight on missions D Several weeks ago Mission Committee members had the honor and pleasure to talk via SKYPE with the four enthusiastic Christian women, who served as “on the field Coordinators” of the JESUS Film production. We were pleased to hear they had finished directing 25 actors from the first people group selected for financial support by the COP. It is wonderful to be reminded that Wycliffe translates the book of Luke. Then JESUS Film people come in and identify 25 actors who can read the words from the JESUS Film in their people’s heart language. One of these women plans to work on the COP second people group within a few months! The JESUS Film, as we know, is a project of the Campus Crusade for Christ. April 20, 2014 21 FEATURED MISSION PARTNER The JESUS Film Project A Glorious Update on Easter Sunday The three young women are the 3 of the 4 film team who picked the 25 actors who could read the people language for Church of the Palms’ first group. spotlight on missions On Monday March 24, seventeen COP members went on the Wycliffe and JESUS Film Bus Trip and spent 90 minutes with three of the four highly skilled directors. The directors had just finished working overseas with the first of two COP people groups. These dedicated and very caring field coordinators reported that our first people group will soon have the JESUS film in their Mother Tongue. The Wycliffe and JESUS Film hosts asked their visitors to pray for the following: for peace in their country, which for security reasons must remain unidentified; that Christians will not have to move away from their own villages; for the Christian leaders so they will be able to show the JESUS Film effectively to many locals; for the chief of the people group who has been open to them doing what they are doing to develop the JESUS Film for their people group; for the 25 actors and locals who are in need of prayers for safety for themselves and their families; for the most effective ways of showing the JESUS film after it is completed so many will see it; and that many may accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. As you might imagine, our bus group returned deeply inspired by their visit and eager to share their impressions with other members of the Church of the Palms. For more information, please feel free to contact Gabriel de Guia Gabriel, [email protected] and Mission Partner Advocates Reyn and Doris Kamphuis at [email protected], 360-8474. The inscription above the display reads: “Each gumball represents one sweet person who has committed to pray for a language group without God’s word.” 22 Church of the Palms Generosity Update Got Blood?
