Who we are?
The partners of the OKIDS network provide
their know-how in the field of clinical research.
OKIDS is an Austrian pediatric research network. It consists of a network of experienced
pediatric hospitals and universities for the purpose of performing clinical trials on medicines
for children.
The OKIDS network cooperates closely with the
respective Coordinating Centers for Clinical Trials (KKS) at its five Austrian locations.
This network offers pediatricians the advantage
to pool their expertise. The close cooperation
between the centers and international networks
allows defining standard treatments as well as
the exploration of new treatment options.

History
OKIDS
OKIDS is the result of Task Group No. 6 of the

The greatest need for child-appropriate medicines is in the fields of neonatology and oncology
(80 - 90% of current use are „off-label“). However, new medicines and child-appropriate formulations are needed for the entire spectrum of
pediatric conditions.
OKIDS serves as a competent partner and service provider for universities/pediatric departments and the pharmaceutical industry.

Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Health.
Supported by Pharmig – the Association of the
Austrian Pharmaceutical Industry.
Sponsored by a grant of the “Joint Health Objectives of the Pharma Master Agreement, a cooperative project of the Austrian Pharmaceutical
Industry and social insurance”.
By combining competences and resources,
OKIDS allows to perform industry sponsored
as well as academic studies in children and
adolescents.
OKIDS improves clinical research to increase
drug safety in children.
OKIDS Expert Forum
Particularly in very young and sick children, there
is a significant lack of tested and approved medicines. Consequently there is an urgent need to
investigate medicines for children and it is essential to set clear priorities.
OKIDS has assembled a Forum of Austrian pediatric Experts representing all sub-specialties which
ensures prioritization of pediatric therapeutic
needs and of the most promising new developments.
Support for Study Teams by the OKIDS
operational sites
Planning, submission, and running of
clinical trials
Study teams benefit from the comprehensive
OKIDS catalog of services – advisory service for

processes, of the active study phase and closure.
The OKIDS team accompanies you throughout
your study.
Education and Training
Trained and experienced personnel plays a major role in the successful accomplishment of clinical trials.
OKIDS centers offer regularly training courses covering various aspects of clinical study management in Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Salzburg.
The courses are designed for the needs of principal investigators as well as study nurses, study
coordinators, research and study assistants.
