SOMETIMES IT’S A SPECIAL SPARK in your little ones’ eyes.
Sometimes it’s the excitement you see as they tackle a fun, inventive project.
Sometimes it’s just the quiet triumph when a problem they used to struggle
with suddenly makes sense.
You know the effect a great teacher has on your child.
But did you know how much you can affect a great teacher? Since 1986, the
Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation has dedicated itself to strengthening public
education by giving educators the tools they need to kickstart innovative ideas.
It all starts with you …
1. Educate
2. Applaud
Encourage innovation in the classroom.
Celebrate the accomplishments
of public school alumni and be
inspired.
N INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO LEARNING
can be found every
day in Hawai‘i’s public
schools.
Good Idea Grants
from the Public
Schools of Hawai‘i
Foundation provide
Hawai‘i’s public school teachers with the financial resources to fund new and innovative ways
of engaging and exciting students. Without
these grants, they have to personally pay for the
materials and equipment to bring these Good
Ideas to life or just not do them.
By funding Good Ideas, we can help a teacher
transform the classroom into an environment
of high achievement, elevated learning, and eye
opening discoveries.
Good Idea Grants have gone to buy:
Shockproof cameras, allowing students
with disabilities to tell their stories in
photos.
 DNA and fingerprint kits, luminol and other
CSI equipment for high schoolers.
Books with first person accounts of
immigration that allowed sixth graders to
connect with history and turned them into
avid readers.
Circuit kits and other equipment so fourth
graders could build Rube Goldberg-style
machines.

F I N D O U T M O R E about how the Public
T H E AWA R D S B A N Q U E T is the Foundation’s only fundraising event of the year. All
monies raised at the banquet go towards innovative learning at Hawai‘i’s public schools.
You can also give directly to the Foundation, knowing that your tax-deductible
contribution will benefit Hawai‘i’s public schools. And corporate sponsors can also
create and fund mini-grants that can be used in specialized areas such as STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation is working to
help create educational excellence, how to
apply for a grant, or how to purchase banquet
tickets at pshf.org.
Success starts with a good idea
and a great teacher. Help make
those good ideas a reality.
