Sometimes it’s just the quiet triumph when a problem they used to struggle with suddenly makes sense. You know the effect a great teacher has on your child. But did you know how much you can affect a great teacher? Since 1986, the Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation has dedicated itself to strengthening public education by giving educators the tools they need to kickstart innovative ideas. It all starts with you … 1. Educate 2. Applaud Encourage innovation in the classroom. Celebrate the accomplishments of public school alumni and be inspired. N INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO LEARNING can be found every day in Hawai‘i’s public schools. Good Idea Grants from the Public Schools of Hawai‘i Foundation provide Hawai‘i’s public school teachers with the financial resources to fund new and innovative ways of engaging and exciting students. Without these grants, they have to personally pay for the materials and equipment to bring these Good Ideas to life or just not do them. By funding Good Ideas, we can help a teacher transform the classroom into an environment of high achievement, elevated learning, and eye opening discoveries. Good Idea Grants have gone to buy: Shockproof cameras, allowing students with disabilities to tell their stories in photos. DNA and fingerprint kits, luminol and other CSI equipment for high schoolers. Books with first person accounts of immigration that allowed sixth graders to connect with history and turned them into avid readers. Circuit kits and other equipment so fourth graders could build Rube Goldberg-style machines. GOOD ID In 20 of Ha 12, the Pu w b $25 ai‘i Foun lic Scho Gran 0,000 in dation ga ols affec ts.
