Phase 2 of TVRH North Tower
Expansion Continues
T
he latest expansion of The Villages Regional Hospital
continues at the site on El Camino Real with steel
girders in place on the two-story addition. It will house
a new Advanced Surgery Center comprised of five new
operating suites [bringing the total to 11], as well as new
endoscopy and other medical procedures areas allowing for
more high tech services and equipment.
The long anticipated expansion of the Emergency
Department is also part of this project and will include
16 additional beds which has allowed TVRH to provide a
specially designed area of the ER for geriatric care, meeting
the specific needs of this population and improving patient outcomes.
The second floor area of this expansion is being shelled in for future bed use.
Projected completion date is November, 2015.
Foundation’s Commitment to Nursing Education
H
igh quality patient care requires the presence of a committed nursing workforce that is fully engaged in its work and in a
setting that empowers nurses to provide the care they are educated to provide.
“In light of the predicted nursing shortage, particular attention must be paid to ensuring that our hospital has the required
nursing staff needed to provide care to our patients, so we are pleased that the TVRH Auxiliary Foundation has been able to
award nursing school scholarships for $8,000 this year to four current TVRH team members to further their careers in the
nursing field,” commented Dick Campbell, Executive Director, TVRH Auxiliary Foundation.

and achieve something that I
have been working very hard
and long to do.”

Message from Our Foundation Chairman
I
am pleased to announce that the TVRH Auxiliary Board has endorsed
and approved the Foundation’s commitment to an educational strategy
to address the shortages of nursing professionals in the healthcare industry
by providing $25,000 in healthcare scholarships starting next year. For
this year, the Foundation Board unanimously voted to award nursing
scholarships to those in the field (see article on Page 1) and to those just entering
Paul Farineau
the field.
Foundation
Chairman
In addition to the $8,000
awarded to those team
members already employed by The Villages
Regional Hospital, the Foundation selected
two high school seniors from The Villages
Charter High School to receive $2,000 each
to pursue their nursing degrees--Chelsie Rae
Bellus, who will be attending the University of
Florida and Jessica Helen Rockey who will be
attending the University of North Florida.

with Paul Farineau, Foundation Chairman.
These scholarships are an investment in the
future for our hospital and the recipients are
extremely grateful to the Auxiliary Foundation
for providing them with this opportunity.
We are also excited to welcome Shelly Scarbrough to our TVRH Auxiliary Foundation staff. Shelly
has been employed by Central Florida Health Alliance, parent organization of The Villages Regional
Hospital, for the past 17 years.
TVRH selected as “A Great Place to Work”
C
entral Florida Health Alliance [parent company of TVRH] has been chosen as one of 150
great places to work in healthcare in the United States by Becker’s Hospital Review. TVRH
was selected based on workforce-centric awards received, benefits offered, wellness initiatives
and efforts to improve professional development, diversity and inclusion along with work-life
balance and a sense of community and unity among employees.
“Our employees are our most valuable resource and their health, happiness and success is
vitally important in their work lives as they provide care for our patients from Lake, Sumter and
Marion counties,” said Amie Richason, Vice President of Human Resources, CFHA.
New Patient Navigator Role with the Foundation
T
he TVRH Auxiliary Foundation has created the position of Patient Navigator to act as
a liaison between the Royal Palm and Touchstone Society members
and the hospital. Deidre Rosemond has been selected to fill this new role
and help guide and direct the members through the complexities of the
healthcare system. In addition, she will conduct hospital tours of groups of
8 or less. Deidre will also make presentations to clubs and groups in The
Villages and surrounding communities to inform everyone on the latest
improvements in the hospital.
To contract Deidre regarding donations, scheduling a hospital tour, or presentation to your club
or organization, please call her at 352-751-8871. (No walkers or wheelchairs permitted.)

PARTNERING
DONORS
Robert and Thomas Fross
Both Robert and Thomas Fross have been
personally touched by the effects of cancer
when their wife/sister-in-law died at a very
young age from this terrible disease. The
Fross' remarked, "The Villages Regional Hospital's commitment to providing the very best
level of care in Central Florida will undoubtedly affect the lives of almost all of our clients.
The Auxiliary Foundation's strong focus in raising funds for this wonderful hospital is
truly contagious."
"Since we know that 100% of the money donated stays right here in our community
helping our own residents, we think every business and organization should consider
partnering with the Foundation," says Robert and Thomas Fross. "We decided to name
the hospital's Cafe in memory of Amy and others who have suffered with cancer since it is
such a pleasant location overlooking the Tree of Life reminding us of the giving spirit of
so many residents and businesses in America's Friendliest Hometown!"
Besides having their office in The Villages, they also have a home in The Villages and the
Fross' commented, "we truly say TVRH is our hospital and we are honored to support its
mission and vision by partnering with the Auxiliary Foundation www.tvrhfoundation.org."

New Name for Meditation Garden
We are pleased to announce that the garden
located between The Villages Regional Hospital
and the Sharon Morse Medical Office Center
has now been renamed the Sharon L. Morse
Celebration Garden. It’s not only a place
for respite for our patients, families and team
members, but also is an opportunity for you
to recognize and celebrate someone’s life. The
walkway contains an array of bricks that can
be purchased to celebrate a special anniversary
date, birthday, a great friend or even your
pet. There are 4,000 bricks within the garden
and approximately 1,500 have been purchased, If you are interested, please call the
Foundation office at 352/751-8871.
