Platinum Gold Students to Experience Agriculture at Ag in the Bag Program Focuses on Agriculture in Everyday Life A very limited amount of space remains for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce’s Ag in the Bag program, which will be Tuesday, Oct. 26, Wednesday, Oct. 27 and Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Livestock Arena at Texas Tech University. Ag in the Bag is an educational experience designed to expose elementary level students to various aspects of the agricultural industry. Sessions begin at 9:30 a.m., and participants will visit stations, featuring peanuts, corn, beef, sheep and goats, water conservation, cotton, food science, and the Mobile Dairy Classroom. Students will visit each station for about 15-20 minutes where presenters will educate students about how important the components of agriculture are to our everyday lives and where our food and fiber originate. Lunch will be served each day during the program, and students will learn how and be shown how agriculture is involved in everything they eat for lunch. Ag in the Bag is planned and hosted by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee and sponsored by numerous partnering entities across the South Plains, including the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech and Texas AgriLife Extension. Because of these sponsors and others, Ag in the Bag is able to be offered to the schools at no cost. Companies interested in sponsoring this event can click here. Schools interested in participating should email Mary Jane Buerkle or call (806) 7617008. The event is limited to 500 students/ day and fills to capacity each year. iaWellness is a comprehensive corporate wellness solution that targets behavior and lifestyle changes in an effort to control healthcare costs. start your own health reform today!! call meghan at 765-7265 or visit iawellness.com A Division of Insurance Asssociates Employee Benefit Company 4902 lakeridge drive | lubbock, tx 79424 | (p) 806.765.7265 | iawellness.com Meghan Gandy, M.S., R.D., L.D. director of wellness Bill Hartsfield president/ceo $ 5 . 0 0Admi s s i on Oct ober12,2010*10a. m.-2p. m.
