New Branch Brings New Technology
Summer / 2006 Alliance Federal Credit Union has opend the doors to our fifth location in Lubbock at 2404 82nd Street. New Branch Brings New Technology Our newest addition may look a little different on the inside but still provides the same great service with additional securities and features. This new location uses a remote teller system giving us more security and you, the member, more privacy. As our membership grows and changes, we continue to grow and change as well. Alliance Federal Credit Union has opened our newest, most secure and most technologically advanced branch office in Lubbock. The most obvious change you will see in this new location is the absence of a typical teller line. A two-way, audio-video system allows members inside the credit union to see and hear tellers, who work in a secure back office. The remote teller system uses television to allow personal, face-to-face contact between the teller and the member. Deposits and receipts will be transmitted through pneumatic tubes, similar to drive-up banking. Tellers interact with members from a back room so branch visitors don’t see a typical teller line or window. Members will also enjoy increased privacy during transactions. Members are able to have more one-on-one interaction with the teller. There is also the option of speaking through a telephone receiver for additional privacy. This new teller system eliminates the need for a conventional teller line by remotely locating both lobby and drive-up tellers in a more secured and private area. The remote teller system has been installed in about 300 U.S. financial institutions in the past three years, and not a single one has been held up since it was installed. The use of cameras discourages attempted fraud and allows tellers to verify transaction information offcamera. The RemoteTeller System uses established technology in a new application that is intended to bridge the gap between full-service and self-service financial transactions. Simply stated, the remote teller system moves the attributes of drive-up service inside the branch, with enhancements to make the service more efficient and consumer friendly. This location provides all credit union services including opening new accounts, full service lending, and also a self service coin counter right in the lobby. Come by and see us today and experience the credit union difference! 2006 Scholarship Winner Alliance Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce Joseph Hinojoza as this yearʼs annual scholarship recipient. Phishing The Internet has spawned a form of fraud designed to dupe financial services consumers into revealing their credit card information, online banking passwords, and other confidential information. Known as “phishing,” this particular scam so far has targeted customers of card issuers and financial institutions. Phishing involves e-mails that attempt to trick the recipient into giving up confidential information. These e-mails look very convincing. They tell the recipient that there’s a need to verify their password and other information. The messages ask for a reply either via e-mail or through a link to a counterfeit Web site that looks just like a legitimate financial institution’s. No financial institution—credit union, card issuer, or other provider—will contact the consumer via e-mail to confirm or gain confidential information. Examine all emails closely because fraudulent e-mails often contain spelling and grammatical errors that should arouse suspicion. At Alliance Federal Credit Union we take your online security and privacy very seriously. We will NEVER ask you for personal information such as credit card numbers, PINs or online IDs in an email. We will not request that you update “lost security information” online, nor will we threaten you with account closure or disable your card if you do not respond.
