It makes it very easy to be faithful with your parish support while traveling . There are two options: 1. You can sign up for OnLine Giving on our parish website http://www.goannunciation.com/annunciationonline-donations.html This site is monitored by the Archdiocese of St. Louis and payments can be weekly, monthly or a one time payment. 2. Or you can authorize your bank to make a weekly, monthly or a one time payment (much like how you would pay your house, car or credit card bills). Thank you for your good stewardship of treasure to our parish. Join us September 19, beginning at 2 p.m., for PapaPalooza, our local family celebration of the Philadelphia World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit. It will be an afternoon of family fun and games, an outdoor Mass (4:30 p.m.) celebrated by Bishop Rice, dinner by P’sghetti’s, and a rollicking concert of praise and worship (and a few musical surprises) by St. Louis’ own Adam Bitter Band beginning at 6:30 p.m. Papa-Palooza will be held on the campus of Kenrick Glennon Seminary (near the soccer field). $15 per family or $5 per individual. Visit www.archstl.org/palooza for more information and to register. Dear Annunciation, Each year, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center touches the lives of more than 200,000 children throughout our region and across the country. The common thread is that all children are treated as precious children of God, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. SSM Cardinal Glennon can continue its healing ministry to those ill and injured children in “Our Dear Lord’s” care because of your love, care and compassion for infants and children that are less fortunate. In 1817, five Franciscan Sisters began SSM’s healing ministry. “Our Dear Lord’s” or ODL was written in the ledger books next to a patient’s name when they could not afford to pay for their care, and no one was turned away. The generosity began in the early 1950’s when parishioners from the St. Louis Archdiocese raised $6.2 million to build SSM Cardinal Glennon, still the only free-standing Catholic pediatric medical center in the country. This generosity continues today thanks to your overwhelming support from this year’s Glennon Sunday Appeal, “Where Faith and Healing Unite”. “Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God.” We received your parish’s collection of $2,014.00 on July 3, 2015. Your faithful generosity helps SSM Cardinal Glennon continue to provide millions of dollars each year in charity care, or as we still refer to it, “Our Dear Lord’s” care. Thank you once again for allowing Glennon Sunday to make a difference. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson Archbishop of St. Louis Chairman of the Board of Governors Cardinal Glennon Chilldren’s Foundation Sandy Koller Executive Director Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation Way of the Cross Garden – Ready for Summer! Have you visited our new Way of the Cross Garden this summer? It is beautiful. Make time to pray the Stations of the Cross or maybe just spend a few minutes enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of this wonderful new addition to our parish. If you have not yet purchased an engraved brick for the garden and would like to do so, orders may be submitted at any time. Forms are in the vestibule and the parish office, as well as in today’s bulletin. If you are searching for a unique and personal gift for the many occasions — Graduations, Father’s Day, Weddings, Birthdays, etc. – a personalized brick in our garden may be just what you are looking for. Please return order forms and payment to the parish office. Brick order questions may be directed to Michelle Brush at [email protected] M e s s a g e fr o m F a t he r M i k e 3 Dear ParishionersWith the recently released videos revealing Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services and other Planned Parenthood Leadership discussing the sale of organs and parts of aborted babies for research many are rightly asking, “What can I do?” in response. Often in situations such as this we as individuals can feel powerless and believe there is nothing that we can do to make a difference in affecting any change. As I mentioned last Sunday in connection with the Gospel reading of Jesus feeding the 5000 with the five barley loaves and a couple of fish, it's important for us to look to the boy who was willing to give the little that he had and offer it to Jesus to bless it. When the boy did this, Jesus made it more than enough to satisfy the needs of all with even more left over, 12 wicker baskets full. The little that we all might be able to do, in and of itself, might not add up to enough, but if we choose to do the little that we can do, and offer it to the Lord asking for His blessing, there is no telling of what our Lord will accomplish through the little that we each give to Him. This past Tuesday some of our parishioners joined Students For Life in their rally and prayers at the Planned Parenthood facility here in St. Louis on Forest Park Ave calling on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood which each year receives $500 million of our taxpayers’ money. There are other opportunities for prayer at this Planned Parenthood facility that any of us can join at other times. We too can offer prayers and sacrifices at any time on behalf of this worthy endeavor. And another small act that we each can do is write our Congressmen and women asking them to defund Planned Parenthood in light of these recent developments. Please find the insert included in this bulletin with their contact information to assist you in doing this if you choose to do so. Additionally, you will find included links to websites of services that many may not know exist that help women find healing who have been victims from having abortions themselves. Above all, it's most important that we ask our Lord to bless what we offer in service of Him and know that He will bless it and bring good from it. Another fine example where many individuals shared a little that they had can be found in the picture to the right! With the Lord's blessing these backpacks will satisfied the needs of many in one aspect of their lives. From your generosity, we of Annunciation Parish collected 100 backpacks for St. Patrick's Center in their “Back to school-- Backpack giveaway” which will provide countless underprivileged children and their families with school supplies that they would have otherwise gone without. Great job Annunciation!
