On Wednesday, October 3rd, the CDD Board of
Supervisors reviewed the engineering drawings for the
new sidewalk and pedestrian gate on Beardsley Drive
outside the exit gate to Charlesworth. The Board
authorized moving forward with the application for
the permit for construction from Pasco County. The
CDD engineer, Joe Payne, and I met with the county
chief engineer during the week of October 8th, to
walk the request through the permitting process.
Hopefully the work will commence in November. The estimated time for completion after the permit is
approved is approximately 4 weeks.

V
eterans Day is intended to honor and
thank all military personnel who served
the United States in all wars, particularly
living veterans. It is marked by parades
and church services and in many places the
American flag is hung at half mast. A period of
silence lasting two minutes may be held at 11 am.
Some schools are closed on Veterans Day, while others
do not close, but choose to mark the occasion with
special assemblies or other activities.
Veterans Day is officially observed on November
11th. However, if it falls on a weekday, many
communities hold their celebrations on the
weekend closest to this date. This enables
more people to attend and participate in the
events. Federal Government offices are closed
on November 11th. If Veterans Day falls on
a Saturday, they are closed on Friday November
10th. If Veterans Day falls on a Sunday, they are
closed on Monday November 12th. State and
local governments, schools and non-governmental
businesses are not required to close and may decide
to remain open or closed. Public transit systems may
follow a regular or holiday schedule.
What Can You Do To Observe This Important Day?
Properly display the American flag. Attend events
honoring those veterans and most of all just tell a
Veteran “Thank You for your service and protecting
our Freedoms” One thing to remember is “Freedom
is not Free. It was earned by Veterans”. v
