This month let’s discuss hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in women. This is the use of estrogen and/or progesn to replace low hormone levels. It is most commonly used when women are going through or a!er menopause. HRT is issued in several forms, including tablets, patches and creams. The signs and symptoms of low hormone levels include hot flashes, sleep loss, depression, nervousness, redness, vaginal dryness and trouble staying focused. It can also contribute to osteoporosis or bri%le bones with low density which break easily and heart disease. Although there are benefits to HRT, it is not beneficial or safe for everyone, especially those with a history of breast cancer, cancer of the uterus and ovaries, heart disease, high blood pressure, blood clots and strokes. Individuals using HRT can experience side effects including bloang, breast tenderness and swelling, headaches, mood changes, nausea and vaginal bleeding. Side effects from HRT do not necessarily lead to disconnuaon of therapy. Changes in the dose or dosage form might be necessary and don’t disconnue HRT without talking with your physician. It is also important to point out that only specific vaginal creams and not petroleum jelly should be used for dryness of the vagina. Only your physician can help you determine if HRT is the right choice for you. If you are considering HRT, you and your physician should discuss the benefits and risks involved. ~~Dr. Dan Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday 1 Activity Times and Events are subject to change without notice. 2 3 10:00 Pine Forest United Methodist Church—C 2:00 Bible Baptist Church—D 3:00 Bible Baptist Church—E/F 3:00 Pensacola Christian—B, C, & K 3:00 Movie—E/F 7:00 9:00 9:30 10:30 2:00 3:30 9 10 Columbus Day 11 7:00 9:00 9:30 11:30 2:00 3:30 9:00 10:00 2:00 3:30 6:00 10:00 2:00 3:00 3:00 3:00 Perdido Bay Baptist Church—C Bible Baptist Church—C Bible Baptist Church—J Pensacola Christian—B, C, & K Movie—E/F 16 10:00 2:00 3:00 3:00 3:00 5:00 4 Bible Study—A Flora Bama Farms Mason Jar Craft—K Sing-a-Long—D Bingo—E/F Shape Up—E/F Bible Study—A Neighborhood Walmart Eyeglass Cleaning—D, I, J, K Burger King—J Bingo—D, E/F Shape Up—E/F 17 Perdido Bay Baptist Church—C Bible Baptist Church—D Bible Baptist Church—E/F Pensacola Christian—B, C, & K Movie—E/F Mass/Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church—Comm.
