My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
Help Wanted!
As you know we have been upgrading our sound system for the past two
years. At this point we probably have the newest and most
technologically advanced system in the Archdiocese of Miami. When
everything is set and working both the music from the choir and the
sound from the sanctuary is great. That is when everything is
working…
We seem to have found a good place when we are celebrating Sunday
Mass with the priests and deacons of the parish. Knowing who will be
using the system at those times we have been able to preset the
soundboard. The problem comes when we have visiting clergy or when
we have a special event in the church. Because the system is as
advanced as it is, we seem to be unable to resist the temptation to try
and find the perfect setting for each visitor and every new musical
ensemble. This is not working. We are not as sophisticated as the
soundboard is.
This has become a very big problem. Not only does it make it
impossible to hear what is going on in the church it also risks damaging
a very expensive sound system. For this reason I have instructed
everyone that all changes to the system must be preapproved by me and
that there is never to be live manipulation of the soundboard. It is also
for this reason that I have decided to implement the policy that all
groups using the church for a special event must pay to have a sound
technician on site during the event. That is the help we are looking for.
If you have experience with soundboards and would like to be trained
on our system we could use your help. This would not be a full time
position. Rather we are looking to offer a stipend on those occasions
when parish and outside groups would like to use the church. If all goes
well we might even expand to include weekend Masses and special
liturgies like First Communions and Confirmations. If you are

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
¡Se necesita ayuda!
Como ustedes saben hemos estado actualizando nuestro sistema de
sonido durante los últimos dos años. En este momento es probable que
tengamos el sistema más nuevo y más avanzado tecnológicamente en
la Arquidiócesis de Miami. Cuando todo está listo y trabajando tanto
en la música del coro como el sonido del santuario es perfecto. Eso
pasa cuando todo está funcionando...
Parece que hemos encontrado la mejor forma cuando la Misa
dominical es celebrada por los sacerdotes y diáconos de la parroquia.
Sabiendo quien va a utilizar el sistema en esos momentos hemos
podido preestablecer la caja de resonancia (soundboard). El problema
ocurre cuando tenemos un clero de visita o cuando tenemos un evento
especial en la iglesia. Debido a que el sistema es tan avanzado como
lo es, parece que somos incapaces de resistir la tentación de tratar de
encontrar el ajuste perfecto para cada visitante y cada nuevo conjunto
musical. Esto no está funcionando. No somos tan sofisticados como lo
es el sistema de sonido.
Esto se ha convertido en un problema muy grande. No sólo hace que
sea imposible escuchar lo que está pasando en la iglesia sino que
también se corre el riesgo de dañar un sistema de sonido muy caro.
Por esta razón, he dado instrucciones a todos que todos los cambios en
el sistema deben ser aprobados previamente por mí y que nunca haya
una manipulación en vivo de la caja de resonancia. Es también por
esta razón que he decidido poner en práctica la política de que todos
los grupos que usan la iglesia para un evento especial deben pagar
para que un técnico de sonido este presente durante el evento. Esa es
la ayuda que estamos buscando.
Si usted tiene experiencia con cajas de resonancia y quisiera ser
entrenado en nuestro sistema podríamos usar su ayuda. Esto no sería
una posición de tiempo completo. Más bien estamos buscando ofrecer
un estipendio en las ocasiones en que grupos parroquiales y de fuera
usaran la iglesia. Si todo va bien podríamos incluso ampliar para
incluir Misas y liturgias especiales como primeras comuniones y

The Respect Life Baby Bottle campaign begins this weekend, May 17/18, 2014. Please pick up a baby bottle and
have it filled with coins, cash, or checks (made out to Respect Life) and bring it back the weekend of May 31 June 1. When you fill this bottle you are helping to provide free pregnancy tests, sonograms, counseling, referrals,
material assistance, and most importantly emotional support to a woman in crisis. You are also providing education programs throughout the Archdiocese of Miami through our schools, universities, and parishes; as well as extending healing to those already hurt by abortion

Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization of men and women that has the kind of
impact which makes Christianity an out-going, alive, Christ-centered part of man's life
today. Growing spiritually by awareness of Christ, dedication to Christ, and service for
Christ , through Mary.
Separated and Divorced Group
Separation and Divorce are really traumatic events that people are not
prepared to handle and have a hard time understanding.
The ministry (English) provides a support group for those that are going through separation or divorce. We follow DivorceCare, a Christian based DVD program which covers all the different issues faced by the participants: loss, anger, depression, finances, reconciliation, etc. The program consists of 13 DVD presentations which last an average of 30 minutes each.
The rest of the meeting time is used to talk about the presentation of the day, and about any other issues the participants
want to discuss.

Marriages in Victory (Matrimonios en Victoria)
Marriages in Victory is a valuable experience for all
those couples who are serious about their marriage
and wish to do better every day. Marriages in
Victory will help you prioritize the relationship with your spouse. It is a lay movement
of the Catholic Archdiocese of
Miami for married couples who wish to
enrich their faith and their commitment as
spouses. The retreat is a weekend and is open
to all couples, regardless of how many years
or whether by Catholic Church or Civil
Authority. "Therefore, a man leaves his father and mother to join his wife and the two become
one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).

Nueva Vida (English)
Nueva Vida is a movement within the Archdiocese of Miami that believes those who suffer from
addiction and codependency can find healing through the love of God. We bring families together
to share, and thereby bring both sides of addiction together, and help families understand the root
of the disease. The ministry hosts one-day and weekend retreats that focus on every aspect of the
addiction.

Where will you get the joy of loving? - in the Eucharist, Holy Communion. Jesus has made himself the bread of life to give us life.
Night and day, he is there. If you really want to grow in love, come back to the Eucharist, come back to that adoration. In our congregation, we used to have adoration once a week for one hour, and then in 1973, we decided to have adoration one hour every day. We
have much work to do. Our homes for the sick and dying destitute are full everywhere. And from the time we started having adoration every day, our love for Jesus became more intimate, our love for each other more understanding, our love for the poor more
compassionate... Look at the tabernacle-see how much this love means now. Do I know that? Is my heart so clean that I can see Jesus
there? And to make it easy for you and for me to see Jesus, he made himself the bread of life, so that we can receive life, so that we
may have a life of peace, a life of joy. Find Jesus, and you will find peace.
