Christ tells us in today’s Gospel from John, “I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me.” The image of Christ as the shepherd is one of the oldest in the Church. Even in the Catacombs there is an ancient drawing of Christ carrying a sheep on his shoulders. Sometimes it is difficult for us to view ourselves as sheep. There is something passive and reliant in that image which may bother our sense of independence. However, if we are honest with ourselves, we know that we need the Lord’s help and guidance. An essential part of living a stewardship way of life is placing our lives in the hands of our Good Shepherd nonetheless. Throughout this Easter Season we celebrate that one mystery — that Christ gave His life for us on the Cross. If we accept the fact that He is our Savior and that He is our Shepherd, we are better able to serve as shepherds to one another. Stewardship is a life of giving self, a life of self-giving. We must constantly work to live up to the Lord’s expectations of us, but we also must always know that He is our shepherd, our Good Shepherd, and He is always there for us. READ MORE AT WWW.THECATHOLICSTEWARD.COM. James C. Ries Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/ Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima, He is Risen! He is Risen indeed! (It’s still Easter Season until Pentecost!) We see in our readings today that everything comes from God. The apostles were on the verge of being treated like gods because of the miracles and great events that would happen around them. They immediately pointed to God for any powers or good works accomplished through them. They could have taken the credit, but did not because they knew where the grace and power came from ultimately, God. God is still with us today. We are called His children and He will do anything to protect us from evil. He has given us everything we have and are. All of our abilities, talents, and skills are gifts from God. Sometimes we might be tempted to take the glory for our accomplishments and good works. Let us look to the apostles as an example today. Let us give the glory to God as they did. 7am 9am 11am 1pm 5pm 7pm Jackie Bleifus & Family Misa Pro Popolo Sequoia Howell Cesario Solis + Jim Ryner + Alfonso Silva + Lillia Ortega + Antonio Pedraza Mary Dull + Raja Iyer + Patricia Floom + Frank Zeek + Mary Zeek + Renee Senat + Mary Dull + David Ransall + Patricia Floom + Misa Pro Popolo Maria Nery + Renee Senat + Cesario Solis + READINGS/LECTURAS DAILY READINGS CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.USCCB.ORG/BIBLE/INDEX.CFM Dios todavía está con nosotros hoy. How can I help others know the Good Shepherd? 2. A spouse, a child, a best friend – when we consider these human relationships, we can grasp the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, the “committed one,” who gives all for the sake of the people he loves. He knows each and every one of us. This personal and intimate relationship with the shepherd allows us to hear his voice in the joy and sorrows of our lives. When we share this experience of the love of Jesus with others, we help the shepherd tend his flock. It is a fascinating miraculous journey of a baby created in love through co-operation with God and the parents, and sustained by a heroic, generous mother resulting in the birth of a new, unique human being that will live for eternity. “If you feel that you are sinful and weak, you have a special right to Jesus’ arms because He is the Good Shepherd, who looks for lost sheep, those who are weak and helpless and who cannot keep up with the flock.” Tadeusz Dajczer, The Gift of Faith, 3rd. ed. Don’t forget the baby. It has an enormous amount of work to do in the next 9 months. There is no dithering - in 40 weeks the baby is going to be on its own. And we will be taking a peek inside the womb to watch as the baby develops from month to month.
