1000 Watts' is the third album from the tropical reggae- and dub-infused Quantic
Presenta Flowering Inferno project. This outing sees musical explorer Will "Quantic"
Holland making a more concerted foray into pure reggae-roots territory, although
flashes of Holland's Colombian influences still shine through. A sun-drenched record,
the LP is charged with atmosphere and a fitting tribute to dub music's evolution.

Drawing together a set of classic style rhythms for the dancefloor, '1000 Watts' was
recorded direct to tape, with all the band members in the same room; for this outing,
Holland enlisted his most prestigious roll-call of guests yet. Alongside Jamaican dub legend
U-Roy and long-time collaborator Alice Russell, the featured artists include popular reggae
singers Hollie Cook and Christopher Ellis. The late, great keyboard maestro Ikey Owens
(whose tragic 2014 passing followed a career working with everyone from Run The Jewels
to The Mars Volta to Jack White) and legendary Jamaican drummer Santa Davis, known
for his work with the likes of Bob Marley and The Aggravators.
Now based in New York, after almost a decade living in Colombia, British producer,
musician and band-leader Quantic has enchanted fans and tastemakers with more than 15
albums in as many years. Seeking out and working with some of the world's most
influential players, he has been instrumental in opening up audiences in the UK and
elsewhere to countless rhythms and. '1000 Watts' continues a thread of releases as
adventurous as they are classic.

The classic 1993 EP from the UK doom legends.
This edition of 'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' is presented on 12" vinyl and features the
original cover artwork created by Aaron Stainthorpe of the band.
My Dying Bride are undisputed legends of the UK metal and doom scenes, having existed
for over 25 years, with a consistent string of releases - both as originators and innovators helping to shape the extreme metal scene since the early 90's, culminating in tours with
acts such as Iron Maiden and Dio.
'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' came amidst an intensely creative period for the band in their
formative years. The EP arrived swiftly on the back of their debut album, 'As the Flower
Withers', and helped solidify My Dying Bride's reputation as firm upcoming leaders of the
UK gothic doom/death metal scene alongside countrymen Paradise Lost. With the ongoing
use of violin to assist with the unique atmosphere created by My Dying Bride, the title
track itself is a creeping doom epic of haunting beauty and savagery in equal measure - a
revered motif of the band. The EP also contains the additional songs, 'Le Cerf Malade' and
'Gather Me Up Forever'.
'The Thrash of Naked Limbs' was recorded at the band's long time haunt, Academy
Studios, known for its own involvement with groundbreaking UK doom releases for years,
and was engineered by Mags, who remains a close production associate of the band to
this day. My Dying Bride had recently returned to Academy for the recording of their 2015
opus, 'Feel the Misery'.

filmed at the Indigo O2 Arena in London in September 2015 and comprises stunning live

Founded in 1980 and led by bass ace/vocalist Mark King and keyboard

Donna Lewis' fifth studio recording ‘Brand New Day’ is an intimate, jazz-infused album
and a striking departure from anything she has done before. Produced by her longtime
friend and collaborator David Torn, who arranged all the songs, and backed by The Bad
Plus jazz trio, it redefines her as an artist while maintaining the wonderful open qualities
her fans love.
‘I Love You Always Forever' (from the multiple-platinum selling Now In A Minute) was such
a huge hit for Donna Lewis - a #1 chart hit / dance-pop classic for which people around the
globe still have boundless affection - the 1996 song will always be the one for which many
fans know her. However the conservatory-trained daughter of a jazz pianist has since
forged her place in the pop world, through styles as diverse as art pop, singer/songwriter
folk, traditional jazz, and classical. While Lewis' last album, 2008's ‘In the Pink’, was heavily
electronic, ‘Brand New Day’ explores a much more stripped-down acoustic sound.

Lewis has toured often in a duo setting, accompanying herself on piano with a bassist at
her side. Here, however, she pares down her focus even further by handling only the

What's particularly invigorating here is how untethered Iverson, Anderson and King
perform. As a trio, they interact clearly, fluidly and adventurously on Brand New Day even
as they supply Lewis the generous framework she deserves as a vocalist. And then there's
Lewis herself, with her cherubic, fuzzy coo of a voice. She digs into these songs with care
and expertise, drawing out her phrases and enveloping a tune in multiple layers of
meaning.

As an exemplar of intergenerational confluence out on the metallic hardcore fringes of
heavy music's spectrum, Magic Bullet Records presents a split release between legendary
stalwart Integrity and contemporary phenom Power Trip.
For vinyl fans, the first pressing is being issued on three color ways: black, clear, and red.
Both sides are spun at 45 RPM for maximum fidelity.
The release is semi-dual-reissue in nature, as Integrity's contribution is a retooled, remixed
rendering of their 2010 Magic Bullet Records 7" VVe Are the End. The Power Trip material
culls the two original tracks from their Self-Titled 7" on Lockin' Out Records, originally
released in 2011. Previously unheard or released prior, Integrity also contributes "Her Eyes is
Filled with Stars," their unique cover of the bizarre song that Howdy (Crispin Glover)
serenades Stephanie (Jenny Wright) with in the 1989 film Twister. The cover song is
exclusive to this split across all formats.
Brand new artwork and layouts by Integrity's Dwid Hellion draws further cohesion between

Magic Bullet Records releases Delayer, the debut album from Chicago's RLYR (pronounced
"relayer"), to be released June 17. The trio boasts a lineup comprised of some of the most
esteemed members of the city's experimental rock community: Steven Hess (also of

"Blackdance" was my first album to be released in England on Caroline, a Virgin label.
Before that [Virgin boss] Richard Branson had signed Tangerine Dream, and then he also
contacted me. Of course, I said yes right away. Not just because Branson liked music from
Germany but also since Virgin was at the time - apart from Island Records - the prestigious
English record company. Nevertheless, joining Virgin was a giant step forward for me. The
fact that I was now on an English label resulted in quite a different reception by the press.
Furthermore, it was a worldwide deal which meant that all my records from "Blackdance"
on would also be available in France, the US and Japan.
For "Voices of Syn" (the longest piece on "Blackdance"), I used the voice of Ernst Walter
Siemon. He was an opera singer who had rehearsed at the studio in Berlin where we had
recorded the first Tangerine Dream record "Electronic Meditation" [1970]. He did a little
collage for me that consisted of Verdi and a few other composers. I recorded it on my
Revox tape machine and used it for this intro a few years later. I played the 12-string guitar
on "Blackdance" myself, as well as Congas and Tabla. In retrospect I have to say however
that I should have left the guitar out. At the time, I had been in New York and I bought a
Martin 12-string at Manny's Music Store because it sounded so unbelievably wonderful. I
thought I definitely had to use that sound in a song somewhere but after I had completed
"Blackdance" I found this thing with the guitar and congas and tablas not that great
anymore. It sounded too much like folk to me. On the other hand many people have told
me that it was actually this sound which drew their attention to my music.
I can't quite exactly remember the details of the bonus tracks. I think they originated at
the The Manor Studio, owned by Virgin, back in 1975 where I produced the Far East
Family Band [with Masanori Takahashi aka Kitaro] and it was possibly during a break
when the guys were asleep. There are an incredible amount of tapes which I have filled
with music, which are temporarily stored until Klaus Dieter Müller digs them out again.
When even Müller doesn't know exactly when and where I did a piece of music, then noone knows!

One of the great storytellers, Ralph McTell, is now celebrating almost 50 years on the
road. Known for his virtuoso guitar style, he is primarily a prolific and gifted songwriter.
With a style that invites you into a unique world, he weaves a narrative that is both
significant and poignant. In 2002 he was presented with the prestigious Lifetime
Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Ralph McTell, whose ‘Streets of London’ is sadly as topical today as when it was written
almost fifty years ago, remembers Wizz in 1961, ‘already a legend’. It was Wizz who
suggested the younger man change his name to McTell, in honour of Blind Willie McTell. It
was Ralph who persuaded Wizz to splash out on the Epiphone dreadnought-style guitar he
plays to this day.
Wizz learned from the masters. He was taught banjo by Peggy Seeger and Ralph Rinzler ,
and grew up playing guitar with Davey Graham and Long John Baldry. In the great tradition
of blues and folk, he shared what he’d learned with guys many of whom went on to be
more famous and much richer than he.
His first solo album was Wizz Jones in 1969. Up to 1988, ten solo albums followed and he
played on Ralph McTell's single "Easy" in 1974. Steve Tilston was also guided by Jones,
through the early stages of his career. Jones was once described as having 'a right hand
worthy of Broonzy'.

Kris Kristofferson (Guitar) and his musicians Shawn Camp (Guitar), Kevin Smith (Bass),
Michael Ramos (Keys), Mike Meadows (Drums) recorded an album on June 23, 24 and
25, 2014 at Cedar Creek Recording in Austin, Texas. It was produced by Tamara
Saviano and Shawn Camp.
In June 2014, Kris Kristofferson hosted a three-day impromptu jam session at Cedar
Creek Studios in Austin, Texas. It had been a while since Kris had recorded and here was
a chance to lay down some of his favorite compositions with a live band. With Shawn
Camp on lead guitar, Kevin Smith on bass, Michael Ramos on keyboard, and Mike
Meadows on drums, the group ran through twenty-five of Kristofferson's best-loved
songs.
On the final day, Kris's dear friend Sheryl Crow came in to sing a duet of ''The Loving
Gift'', a song made famous by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash that Kris had never
recorded.

Stage Door debut Barbara Cook's 'Songs Of Perfect Propriety' on CD. Released on the
independent Urania label in November 1958, it featured Cook performing a song cycle of
Dorothy Parker poems and verses set to music by opera and chamber music composer Seymour
Barab. The unique album was described in Billboard magazine as featuring "numbers that vary
from satirical to tender".
The release continues Stage Door's Collector's Series, a line of limited edition CD products
presented in the retro style of a miniature long-playing record (in a slim cardboard sleeve). All
Collector's Series titles are limited to 500 units.
A legend of Broadway and the American theatre, Tony Award winning actress Barbara Cook's
career has spanned seven decades. Originating roles in such classic Broadway musicals as 'The
Music Man', 'She Loves Me' and 'Candide', Cook's performances and clear soprano voice have
enthralled critics and audiences alike.
'Songs Of Perfect Propriety' holds the distinction of being the first published song cycle which set
various light verses by Dorothy Parker from ‘The Portable Dorothy Parker’. Because it was
uncustomary for feministic literature to be set to music by male or female composers in the first
half of the twentieth century, 'Songs of Perfect Propriety' is deemed as a highly significant work
for singers of the modern art song repertoire. Seymour Barab's decision to set Parker's verse to
music was almost unprecedented. Barab's music parallels with the humour with which Parker was
able to convey the truth, followed by brilliant punch lines expertly executed by Barbara Cook on
this recording.

The influence and popularity of the Las Vegas stylings of all-round entertainer Bobby
Darin continue despite his untimely death in 1973 at the age of 37.
Darin’s first album for Atlantic Records, “Sings The Shadow Of Your Smile” (originally
released in March 1966) features the five movie songs nominated for the Academy
Award™ in 1966, including “The Ballad Of Cat Ballou” and “What’s New Pussycat”, plus
a further six standards. The four bonus tracks are non-album a- and bsides issued the
same year.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album’s release, it is now presented in a
digipak, with a booklet featuring detailed liner notes by Fred Dellar.

Darin’s second album for Atlantic Records, “In A Broadway Bag” (originally released
in June 1966) displays Darin’s winning style on a selection of outstanding songs from
then current and recent hit Broadway musicals, including “Mame”, and
“Don’t Rain On My Parade” from “Funny Girl”.
Darin’s version was memorably used for a Vauxhall TV ad. The three bonus tracks are
the contemporary non-album a- and b-sides.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album’s release, it is now presented in a
digipak, with a booklet featuring detailed liner notes by Fred Dellar.

Fifty years ago, as a guest with John Coltrane’s group, Jack DeJohnette played with the
fathers of Ravi Coltrane and Matthew Garrison, and the programme of 'In Movement'
opens with Coltrane’s harrowing and still pertinent elegy “Alabama”. Other covers
include the classic “Blue In Green” by Miles Davis and Bill Evans (Jack is one of the few
musicians to have played in the bands of both men) and “Serpentine Fire”, from the
songbook of Earth, Wind and Fire, a tribute to Maurice White – who also collaborated
with Jack in the early years. Recorded at New York’s Avatar Studios in October 2015,
and produced by Manfred Eicher.

Drummer Tyshawn Sorey is widely considered to be among the most important young artists at
the intersection between composed and improvised music.
The New York Times has called his work 'gestural and philosophical', and his prior release, Alloy
'elegant and shadowy'. Not just known for his impossibly virtuosic technique and his mind
boggling ability to effortlessly master even the most difficult written scores, he is also one of a
rare breed of jazz musicians who is pursuing composition as seriously as his playing. He is
currently working towards his doctorate in composition from Columbia University, which he is
expected to receive in 2017.
The Inner Spectrum of Variables is an extended composition that draws from Sorey's wideranging musical influences, including the work of improviser-composers Butch Morris, Harold
Budd, and Anthony Braxton, as well as Ethiopian modal jazz, klezmer, and Western art music
traditions. Structurally it involves multiple harmonic, formal, rhythmic, and modal vocabularies all
supported by an exploratory framework. The result is a far reaching and intensely beautiful work
that daringly blurs the boundaries between composition and improvisation.

Mike del Ferro is an internationally renowned, enormously versatile pianist. With appearances so

del Ferro (1921-1992) who worked with many international stars including Maria Callas and
Leonard Bernstein.
Claron McFadden was born in the United States but has lived in the Netherlands for many years.
With her highly distinctive voice she moves effortlessly between classical music, improvisation
and jazz. Claron has built up an impressive reputation as a concert singer of both traditional and
modern repertoire. She has performed with many leading orchestras and appeared in

Guitarist Julian Lage releases 'Arclight', which marks his first recorded outing on electric guitar
and in a trio format, backed by double bassist Scott Colley and drummer Kenny Wollesen. The
album showcases Lage's growth as a leader and songwriter, and further solidifies his status as a
premier guitar virtuoso.
The pace he sets is brisk, the mood often upbeat, the playing so quick-witted and offhandedly
dazzling that one is compelled to immediately press "repeat," especially when tracks like "Persian
Rug" and "Activate" whiz by in under two and a half minutes. For a thoughtful artist like Lage,
who will research and ruminate on a project long before he sets foot in a studio, this was a
liberating experience, plugging in and playing with a kind of abandon.
Though up to now Lage has largely recorded and performed original material, he wanted to
explore his interpretive skills on 'Arclight', concentrating on music from the early to mid-20th
century, "jazz before be-bop." Including Spike Hughes' "Nocturne", W.C. Handy's "Harlem Blues,"
a Gus Kahn-Neil Moret piano roll number. The rest of the album consists of originals, which, notes
Lage, "celebrate the other period I'm obsessed with, the Keith Jarrett American quartet period, an
improvisational jazz era that had such a rich connection to songs and to folk music. This was the

'Os Orixas' is rich in layered percussion, horns and guitars. Singer Eloah's lead vocals are
reminiscent of the likes of Ellen McIlwaine, Elza Soares and Joyce. Samba, funk, folk, jazz
and MPB over ijexa and African grooves, that combine beautifully across the moods. Os
Orixas refers to one of the manifestations of the 'supreme God' in the Yoruba faith.
This reissue comes complete with original cover art.
The songs were written by Luis Berimbau, assisted by Ildásio Tavares. Berimbau was a very
influential multi instrumentalist, poet, writer and composer from Bahia, Brazil. He produced
the wonderful folk/psychedelic rock group Perfume Azul Do Sol's 'Nascimento' LP amongst
many others.
Tavares was an author, composer and poet from Salvador, Bahia. As a composer, he worked
with many artists including Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Bethania, Alcyone, Toquinho, Nelson
Gonçalves and Maria Creuza.

Banda Black Rio's 'Maria Fumaca' is one of the strongest Brazilian samba-disco-funk-soulfusion albums of all time. It was voted No. 38 in the 'Top 100 Brazilian Albums Ever' in
Rolling Stone Magazine, Brazil. This official Mr Bongo re-issue comes complete withreplica
original artwork.
Banda Black Rio were formed in 1976 by the late Oberdan Magalhães in Rio de Janeiro. They
revolutionised 'black instrumental music' at the time with their Brazilian re-interpretation of
soul, jazz, funk and disco grooves, inspired by the likes of Tim Maia and reminiscent of Kool
& The Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire during their most on-point period of the 1970's. 'Maria
Fumaca' is the groups first album, originally released by Atlantic in 1977 and a record that
bought the group worldwide fame.
The title track is a real stand-out for us and a long term firm favourite. 'Miss Cheryll', more of
a disco/AOR jam, was released by RCA UK in 1980 as the track become popular within
several London scenes.

"Olle schaun, olle zaahn, olle drahn" sing Die Strottern and JazzWerkstatt Wien in the first song
on their CD "Wo fangts an". These words might also be used to describe the hype around
singing in local dialects currently sweeping the Austrian music scene — in Vienna, Die Strottern
are partly responsible for shaping this trend.
For many years they have been searching out fresh topics for and contemporary ways to express
Viennese song. Made in cooperation with JazzWerkstatt Wien, their 2009 CD "Elegant" was the
first to expand the format. A rhythm section, winds, electric guitar and piano transform the
Viennese singing duo into a small big band. From a musical standpoint, boundaries are being
crossed. Everyone involved has taken a step away from their ancestral bailiwicks, but without
giving up their essence.
Peter Ahorner, arguably the most important and most prolific author of new Viennese songs,
lends his poetic texts to the effort. In 2014 Die Stottern and JazzWerkstatt Wien jointly set lyrics
by Ahorn to music for the Glatt & Verkehrt Music Festival; the resulting songs can be heard on
this CD.
With their Josef Mayer-Limberg Suite, Die Strottern and JazzWerkstatt Wien have created a
monument to an "Old Master" of poetry in the Viennese dialect and, musically, have stretched a
grand arc from old-time, Dixieland-style jazz and laid-back reggae feeling to improvisations in the
free jazz style.

NO blues started out as an idea in the mind of Rob Kramer at productiehuis ON. He invited Ad
van Meurs, Ankie Keultjes, Haytham Safia, Anne-Maarten van Heuvelen and Osama Meleegi to
experiment with the combination of American folk blues and Arabic music. In 2005 the band
put out their first album Farewell Shalabiye.
After raving reviews, five albums followed; Ya Dunya (2007), Lumen (2009), Hela Hela (2010), the
double album Kind of NO blues (2013) and Oh Yeah Habibi (2015).
This album looks back at ten years of this special blend of music called 'Arabicana'.
