Around 20,000 delegates from 90 different countries are attending. Major themes include housing, the impact of the tech industry and the rise of flexible working. The Grand Paris project was one of the largest exhibits at MIPIM this year, with a tent on the seafront showcasing the plan's urban regeneration, transport and real estate development projects. The scheme will involve an investment of some €26 billion, much of which will be poured into connecting the city's outlying suburbs to the city center. Delegates take time out from networking and deal-making to enjoy the spring sunshine on Promenade de la Croissette. The conference is generally accepted to be a more restrained affair than it was in infamous years before the market crash of 2008-2009, when private helicopters were a common sight and the vintage champagne flowed. But investors still love to wow clients (and journalists) with a meeting on board a boat. Turkey went all out at MIPIM again this year with a 300-square-meter pavilion and a large delegation including architects, urban planners, property developers and, strangely, representatives from the Turkish Ceramics Board.
