Learning to read is easy with Starfall
Starfall is designed to
help kids learn how to read. It
is a fun an educational alternative to English and language
development. Starfall is useful for children from preschool ages through second
grade. It is also a great source
for home schooled children, as
well as children with special
needs. The website gets kids
started by introducing them to
letters and sounds. It then introduces phonics and beginning words. Starfall also offers
poetry, music, riddles, and
tongue twisters helping with
language development. Once a
child learns to read they are
able to chose from a variety of
stories. Starfall also offers a

flower and watch it grow. This aspect of Starfall allows children to put
their own creative touch into what they design. It is great to see how excited they get when they finish!!

Starfall is a great tool to use in the classroom. It is such a big help to teachers. It offers
great ways for kids to develop their reading skills. One way Starfall does this is
through its stories. Two examples are Zac the rat and Robot and Mr. Mole. These stories as well as others help children sound out words as they begin to learn how to read.

Calender Fun
Starfall also has a calendar feature. It teaches kids days of the week,
and months of the year. This is a great way for kids to visually see
when days and months are. They will have so much fun pointing
out their own Birthdays and naming
all the Holidays! At the bottom of
the screen there are also questions
for the more advanced students.
Little Performers
Starfall also offers a fun activity that allows children to act
out plays. Children are able to take on fun roles by
playing a character. Kids love this feature on Starfall.
They have so much fun reading and acting out these
plays with their friends!

I think Starfall.com is a great website for teachers,
students and parents. As a future educator I will
make sure to use this in my classroom as much as
possible. It is a fun and interactive tool that incorporates technology into classroom as well.
