ESMÉ PATTERSON
WOMAN TO WOMAN
RELEASE DATE
06.02.15
ESMÉ PATTERSON
WOMAN TO WOMAN
‘Woman To Woman’ is a unique concept album by acclaimed US singer-songwriter ESMÉ PATTERSON. The
songstress has received much highly-deserved critical acclaim from The New York Times, NPR and Elvis Costello.
A former member of Americana group Paper Bird, she has written 10 songs from the perspective of famous women
immortalised in song on her album ‘Woman to Woman’, including singing from Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’s point of view
on the track ‘Never Chase A Man’, ‘What Do You Call A Woman?’ is a response to Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ and
‘Valentine’ is the voice of Elvis Costello’s ‘Alison’.
As ESMÉ PATTERSON explains “I was learning to play a Townes Van Zandt song called “Loretta” ...and I started
thinking about how many songs were just a woman’s name, and how these women are frozen in time, and frozen as
archetypes, frozen in black and white. And I thought they deserved to be coloured in.”
ESMÉ PATTERSON also appears on several tracks on the new album from Austin country artist Shakey Graves, and
performed with him in November 2014 on the Conan O’Brien show in the US. The song ‘Dearly Departed’ has been
streamed over 4 million times to date on Spotify. ESMÉ PATTERSON songwriting is at the heart of the folk and roll
explosion in Denver, Colorado and since her emergence as a solo artist this fierce and brilliant songwriter’s altitude
and velocity has only increased.

LEFTOVER CRACK
FUCK WORLD TRADE (RE-ISSUE)
RELEASE DATE

LEFTOVER CRACK
FUCK WORLD TRADE (RE-ISSUE)
LEFTOVER CRACK are a rare band in that they managed to master a genre of music and eventually completely
redefine it. Born out of the ashes of ska/punk/crust legends Choking Victim, LEFTOVER CRACK elevated the level
of expectation and popularity of the genre. Infusing elements of metal, hardcore, classical, and even some as yet
undefined ingredients, LOC created a truly unique sound which they dubbed “squat-core”. Coupled with fiercely
overt/controversial political and socio-economic messages and it became the recipe for some of the most volatile
material the punk genre has seen in a long time. Originally released in 2004, their second album Fuck World Trade
is viewed as LOC’s hallmark release. Built on the foundation of high-speed ska and thrash punk, Fuck World Trade
saw the band take a freer approach both musically and lyrically, including longer songs, more varied details, and
contributions from members of Anti-Flag, The Dwarves, and World/Inferno Friendship Society. Of course, the band’s
anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-capitalist, and anarcho-communist message is on full display as well.
Over 10 years after its release, Fuck World Trade still stands as genre defining album in both musical content and
message. To mark the anniversary of the album Fat will be releasing a deluxe reissue. The reissue includes five
previously unreleased bonus tracks (all originally from the Fuck World Trade session), enhanced artwork, and
gatefold double-vinyl version.

SOBER & GODLESS
RELEASE DATE

THE RUMJACKS
SOBER & GODLESS
Born of a desire to make music in general and Celtic-flavoured punk in particular, THE RUMJACKS are an entity
rather askew, cast adrift of the mainstream and the industry as a whole, these five musical misfits from the cobbled
streets of old Sydney town, a group unto themselves and the music they’ve made their own.
Since the group’s inception, they’ve come to embrace the oddball world they’ve found themselves in, becoming
part of the gnarled, handmade furniture you might say, drawing from a solid base and pushing, stretching, bullying
it to their every whim, creating something of their own. You may make comparison to The Pogues, Billy Bragg, The
Dropkick Murphys et al, and you’d be right to, but you’d be well advised to acknowledge the twist these five have put
to their music themselves, making it something unique.
Sober & Godless, to be released on their own label ‘Black Matilda Music’. The album was produced by Steve James
(Thin Lizzy, The Jam, The Screaming Jets).

HOME STREET HOME: ORIGINAL SONGS FROM THE SHIT MUSICAL
Punk icon Fat Mike (NOFX) recently announced that Home Street Home: Original Songs From the Shit Musical, a new
punkrock musical concept album will be released through Fat Wreck Chords in advance of a theatrical production. Home
Street Home tells a story of survival and love among runaway teenagers living on the streets, and features music by Fat
Mike with lyrics by Fat Mike, Jeff Marx (Tony Award winner, Avenue Q) and Soma Snakeoil (AVN Award winning writer/
director). The theatrical production of Home Street Home will be directed by LA Stage Ovation Award winner Richard Israel.
The studio album features performances by Fat Mike and NOFX, and sees the play’s characters inhabited by a wide roster
of vocalists including Frank Turner, Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, Tony Award winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Bad
Cop/Bad Cop’s Stacey Dee, the late Tony Sly of No Use For A Name, and Dance Hall Crashers’ Karina Denike. Members of
Descendents, Lagwagon, Old Man Markley, Mad Caddies, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Aggrolites, The Living End,
The Real McKenzies, and RKL also play on many of the tracks. The Home Street Home concept album includes a portion of
the songs that will ultimately comprise the full score of the new musical.
Based on true stories of the authors’ experiences, the story of Home Street Home revolves around Sue, a 16-year old
runaway who plunges headfirst into the deviant subculture and alternative lifestyle of the streets. After being adopted into a
tribe of homeless teens, Sue finds empowerment and acceptance from her new chosen family.
Fat Mike said, “Ever since I saw Rocky Horror when I was 8, I’ve been intrigued by musicals. Well, not all musicals, just the
ones that break the mold. Luckily, I found two people, Jeff Marx and Soma Snakeoil, that love breaking things as much as I
do. This is fucking fun!”

BACKSTAGE PASSPORT SOUNDTRACK
In 2008 NOFX starred in the TV show ‘Backstage Passport’, a series that documented the insane hijinks of the band as
they weaved an unsteady path through exotic locales where most sane bands fear to tread. The reality romp originally
aired on FUSE and later went on to be released on DVD, which served up tons of “too hot for TV” bonus footage.
After the resounding success of the series, NOFX have been met with endless requests for a soundtrack including all
the rare and exclusive songs (5 previously unreleased) from the show. After all, NOFX were beloved for their music
long before their foray into the world of the Kardashians, Real Housewives, and the like.
Well, fans can finally stop their pleading, because the official ‘Backstage Passport Soundtrack’ is finally going to
be available on CD and LP. Packed with 15 tracks from both seasons (That’s right! The second season is nearing
completion as you read this.), the ‘Backstage Passport Soundtrack’ is a one-stop shop for all the rare, remixed, and
unreleased material that fans could only previously enjoy as snippets during the show.
Followers of the show and diehard NOFX collectors will both be ecstatic that this soundtrack has gone from rumor
to reality.

MEAT WAVE

MEAT WAVE
BROTHER
Meet MEAT WAVE, a Chicago trio who play insanely catchy punk rock. The band’s chemistry between Chris Sutter
(vocals, guitar), Joe Gac (bass) and Ryan Wizniak (drums) propels their songs with undeniable force and charisma.
‘Brother’ is a raw, under-two-minute romp and the video’s stuttering images echo the song’s claustrophobia
& restlessness. ‘Brother’ is backed here on the EP by 6 other slices of crucial pop-punk, including the vicious,
swaggering ‘Sham King’.
Sutter, Gac and Wizniak found each other in 2011, all twenty-something participants of the local Chicago scene.
MEAT WAVE’s sinister bass lines, maniac drumming and fuzzed out guitars draw from influential post-punk bands
like Hot Snakes as well as Chicago pillars Jesus Lizard and Naked Raygun.
As one fan described them on Bandcamp earlier in 2014, MEAT WAVE are “snotty and radical and explosive - like
sneezing while eating pizza”. Chow down!

SALES NOTES
 “The Chicago band takes the fast and furious lo-fi sounds of bands from the Texas punk scene like The
Marked Men and High Tension Wires and turns up the intensity just enough to give the classic sound a whole
new meaning. It’s the type of frenetic chemistry most bands can’t even manage to contain. Consider yourselves
hooked.” – Noisey.
 “‘Sham King’ is a sludgey, grit-encrusted number that merges sinewy licks with the raw, guttural stomp of
hardcore pecussive. It’s cyclic and noisy and aggressive and will have you seeking to mosh at the soonest
convenience.” – The Line of Best Fit.
 “Guitars. Scuzz. Shouty vocals. This is saving our soul today. Meat Wave are a three piece from Chicago... we’re
dealing with a punk rock ethos that appears equally as drunkenly poetic in lyricism. We’re fully willing and able
to get behind this.” - Killing Moon.

DRUG CHURCH

DRUG CHURCH
SWELL
DRUG CHURCH, monsters of alt-rock, have weathered a year of dope shows and fan adoration since the release of
their seminal punk masterpiece ‘Paul Walker’. Now, the chickens have come home to roost. The band has dedicated
itself fully to a true ‘sophomore slump’ EP full of indulgent missteps and overreaching stabs at pop crossover. Being
told that they are indeed “the sickest band ever” has yielded real results.
On ‘But Does It Work?’, DRUG CHURCH goes for pop crossover with their own ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ style one-hit-wonder.
Regarding the purely coincidental similarities to a certain college-rock staple, the band says, “if ripping off The
Pixies was good enough for Nirvana, it’s good enough for Drug Church.” The Albany-area band hopes to buy at least
one pool off the success of this track.
With ‘Swell’, DRUG CHURCH push their idiosyncratic blend of punk and alt to new heights of sick. Recorded with J.
Robbins (every band, ever) in a big, professional studio, ‘Swell’ delivers the biggest DRUG CHURCH sound to date. It’s
pretty much the life-changer you assumed it would be.

SALES NOTES
 EP only available for physical purchase on vinyl, as a one-sided 12” with a silk screened B-side.
 “The talk-singing Kindlon has employed in ‘Self Defense Family’ the last few years creeps in on this song,
giving it a feel of both freshness and resignation. No subject is immune from the accusation of ‘not working’:
the mundane tasks of everyday life, the idea of bettering oneself, democracy, relationships (hilariously,
lesbianism is the only potential exception). I’m inclined to agree, but for now, this song is working pretty well
for me.” - Abandon Hip.
 “This is the follow-up to their impressive 2013 release, ‘Paul Walker’, so ‘Swell’ will be a contender for sure
come release day. The song itself is a groovy post-hardcore track...” - Under The Gun Review.
 “A distorted, Pixies-esque single from Drug Church’s sophomore EP, ‘Swell’, ‘But Does It Work?’ is a rough and
rowdy confessional.” – SPIN.

JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ
VESTIGES & CLAWS
RELEASE DATE
20.02.15
JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ
VESTIGES & CLAWS
Since releasing ‘In Our Nature’ in 2007, JOSÉ GONZÁLEZ has been steadily collecting riffs and ideas for new songs.
An album consisting of seven years’ worth of musical sketches might naturally sprawl wildly in production and style, but on
‘Vestiges & Claws’ González has created a collection of songs that cohere just about perfectly. It travels from the glowering,
riff-driven ‘Stories We Build, Stories We Tell’ via the groovy ‘Leaf Off / The Cave’ to the anthemic ‘Every Age’. For those
familiar with José’s earlier work there is little doubt as to who is behind these recordings.
“I started out thinking that I wanted to continue in the same minimalistic style as on my two previous records,” says José.
“But once I started the actual recordings I soon realized that most of the songs turned out better with added guitars and
a more beat-like percussion, and with more backing vocals. Personally, I think this made it a more interesting and varied
album.”
The result is less purist, less strict. One can find traces of inspired protest songs and eccentric folk rock here. Monotonous
grooves and rhythms. Frustration and optimism. It’s a collection that is simultaneously confident, free and tentative.
Like JOSÉ GONZALÉZ’s previous releases, ‘Vestiges & Claws’ was largely recorded in his home kitchen and partly in
Svenska Grammofonstudion, both in Gothenburg. Chirping birds, creaking doors and off-mic chattering can be heard
intruding upon the recordings. José is careful to avoid editing out these imperfections - he wants you to feel the intimacy of
the setting.
Where José’s previous albums, ‘Veneer’ and ‘In Our Nature’, might have sounded sparse and barren in parts, ‘Vestiges
& Claws’ has an altogether new feeling to it, at once warmer and darker than before. He talks about how he’s found
inspiration in sprawling 70’s Brazilian productions, American folk rock and West African desert blues this time. And how he’s
decided to waive the principle of having everything on the album reproducible in a live context.
“I’ve focused more on the role of being a producer this time around, I’ve spent more time thinking of what’s best for the
song and the recording,” finishes José.

ABNOCTO
MONARCHY is Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black. Both originally from Australia, the synth-pop duo met in London, and
began making music together in 2009.
MONARCHY released their debut album in 2011 with the singles Love Get Out of My Way, Maybe I’m Crazy, and You
Don’t Want to Dance With Me and remixes from the likes of Benny Benassi, Tim Goldsworthy, Azari and III and Bag
Raiders. They remixed such acts as Ellie Goulding, Lady Gaga, Kelis, Kylie, OMD, Jamiroquai, Fyfe Dangerfield and
more.
Over the last five years they have played across the globe, at festivals such as Coachella, Melt, Lovebox, The Big Chill,
Low Cost, Arenal Sound, and their own headline shows and club gigs in the US, Spain, Germany, UK, France, Russia.
After seeing MONARCHY’s performance at Coachella in 2011, burlesque star Dita Von Teese got in touch with the band
and the song ‘Disintegration’ featuring Dita was eventually born from the relationship. This marked the first time Dita
had ever recorded vocals on a track. This song went on to become their first single from their forthcoming album and
an internet sensation.
Abnocto is an album that switches between moods and tempo’s but always beautifully crafted and emotive.

DUTCH UNCLES
O SHUDDER
RELEASE DATE

DUTCH UNCLES
O SHUDDER
Six years into DUTCH UNCLES’ flourishing career, the idiosyncratic art-popologists return with ‘O Shudder’. The new album sees them further
distilling and refining their signature sound, marrying rock bombast with classical arrangements, acoustic instrumentation with smart synthetic
pop.
‘O Shudder’ is DUTCH UNCLES’ most direct record to date, the sound of a wildly witty band well and truly finding their stride, whilst lyrically
tackling the growing pains of being twentysomething in generic suburbia; according to hip swivelling front man Duncan Wallis, the album covers
themes including “pregnancy, social media, terrorism, divorce, sexual dysfunction, job seeking, health scares, doubt, love.”
With ‘O Shudder’, DUTCH UNCLES continue their fascinating, wonky ascent which has seen them play enormodomes with emo punk rock
behemoths and self-confessed DUTCH UNCLES acolytes Paramore, supporting and being supported by like minded left-field pop adventurers Wild
Beasts, Outfit, Field Music, and Everything Everything, have a burger named after them by one of Manchester’s premiere eateries and prefigure
Future Islands’ dance moves meme in their video for 2013 single ‘Flexxin’.
The album was recorded in three locations: a studio in the heart of the Welsh valleys, above a pub and, for the acoustic instruments, in the
natural reverb of Salford’s Peel Hall. The band were meticulous in tweaking their synth sounds so they’d fit seamlessly with the harp, xylophone,
marimba, string and woodwind sounds that populate the record. Sources of inspiration for the record included The Blue Nile, Kate Bush’s third
album ‘Never For Ever’, Igor Stravinsky, Japan and lyrically John Cooper Clarke, Sparks, Ian Dury and Prefab Sprouts’ album ‘From Langley Park
to Memphis’.
The album’s narrative involves a protagonist, a twentysomething everyman, a version of Wallis perhaps, agonising over awkward questions
and situations arising from his past and future. ‘Babymaking’ kicks things off with the protagonist evaluating his suitability for parenthood.
‘Upsilon’ tackles the protagonist’s interaction with and insecurities relating to social media, including reminiscences of quitting MySpace as a
teenager. ‘Decided Knowledge’ tells of the impact on the mind of the protagonist after a failed job interview process, whilst ‘In n Out’ sketches a
grammatically poor approach to breaking down the friend zone. The album culminates in ‘Tidal Weight’ in which the protagonist’s social paranoia
and internal angst reach such a level that, during a self administered health check, he imagines his body to have dematerialised. Wallis explains
that, “it felt like a suitable narrative, as we ourselves approach our thirties where a lot of people are expected to feel sure about who they are and
where they are going and just don’t.”
All set to induce hip swivelling, DUTCH UNCLES have delivered on their youthful potential and, with ‘O Shudder’ bringing their unclassifiable pop
music into clear focus.

SALES NOTES
 “Acclaimed angular math-pop outfit Dutch Uncles are to release their new record ‘O Shudder’. Make sure you have a bucket of ice ready when
you hit play on their new track - it’s a bit raunchy.” – The Line of Best Fit.
 “Sonically this is like Duran Duran without the mullets, bandanas, collar-popped pink blazers, and superfluous scarves. That is to say it is a
nimble art-pop gem.” – Noisey/VICE.
 “Futuristic synth sweeps, precise percussion, explosive snares and vivid fretless-bass lines propel the groove, whilst singer Wallis sketches this
“grammatically poor approach to breaking down the friend zone”.” – The Sugar Mill.
 “...the British five-piece has seemingly raised musical candor to a new level. Uncles offered a taste of the new disc for any remaining skeptics
in the melodic universe with ‘In N Out’.” – AXS.
 “When I say that Dutch Uncles draw influence from Talking Heads that should be enough for anyone to like their style. When you include
intricately filmed film clips, skilful piano playing and balloons, it gets even better. Their genre floats from the obvious indie rock to math pop,
art rock and new ‘prog’.” – Hhhhappy.com.

KITTY, DAISY & LEWIS
NO ACTION
RELEASE DATE
27.02.15
KITTY, DAISY & LEWIS
NO ACTION
KITTY, DAISY & LEWIS have spent the last three years writing songs and building a new 16-track analogue studio in a
derelict Indian restaurant in Camden Town. Once they got their hands on their new studio space, they knew that they
wanted to take the third album to another level with the songwriting/instrumentation/styles/production/sound.
An early fan, Mick Jones (The Clash) was keen to get involved, and as producer he immediately started weekly
rehearsals with KD&L in their home, learning and playing the songs, as he had done when working with The Libertines.
In practice Jones became a new band member during the months of rehearsing, and guests on a couple of tracks.
In the summer of 2014, the family band recorded ‘Kitty, Daisy & Lewis The Third’, a unique, self-penned third studio
album that sets them apart from anything else today. The stories in this album resonate with moods and melodies that
touch you in ways that are both uplifting and unnerving. With three different writers and multi-instrumentalists in the
band each track is a sparkling gem that reflects a different facet of experience.
‘No Action’ is the second single off the album ‘Kitty, Daisy & Lewis The Third’.

movement of 1960s Brazil. ZÉ is often thought of as Brazil’s answer to Zappa or Captain Beefheart; a true innovator
and a true artist.
Mr Bongo re-issued ZÉ’s debut record ‘Grande Liquidicao’ originally released in 1968. This, his second solo album, is
self-titled, and was released by RGE Discos in 1970.
After the peak of the Tropicália period, ZÉ went into relative obscurity. It was only in the 1990s, when musician and
Luaka Bop label founder David Byrne discovered an album recorded by Zé many years earlier, that he returned to
performing and releasing new material.
Continuing in a similar musical vein to Grande Liquidicao, ‘Tom Zé’ is a wonderful combination of guitars, layered of
percussion and tough rock ’n’ roll, underpinned by ZÉ’s instantly reconisable vocal.
ZÉ is infact one of Brazil’s most sampled artists. ‘Jimmy, renda-se’ has one ofthe most recognisable intro’s you will
hear so it was no great surprise that Ameriie sampled it for her smash ‘Take Control’.

OS BRAZOES
Rare and highly sought after in its original format, OS BRAZOES self-titled album was originally released on RGE
Discos in 1969. It is a psychedelic masterpiece that fuses samba, r’n’b and rock ’n’ roll influences using fuzz guitars,
synths, percussion, lush vocals and effects.
OS BRAZOES formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960’s. They backed Gal Costa during her Tropicalia period, yet
apparently never recorded in the studio with her. Miguel de Deus, the band’s front man, recorded the highly sought
after ‘Black Soul Brothers’ LP in 1977, which became an important record in the ‘Black Rio’ movement. Mr Bongo
released the title track from that LP, on the ‘Brazilian Beats: Brooklyn’ compilation in 2006 and recently as part of
their Brazil 45’s re-issue series.
‘Os Brazoes’ features covers of Gilberto Gil’s ‘Pega a Voga, Cabeludo’ and Jorge Ben and Toquinho’s ‘Carolina,
CarolBela’.

“From The Vault” is a series of live concerts from
The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their
first official release. The Rolling Stones American
Tour in 1981 was the most successful tour of that
year taking a then record $50 million dollars in
ticket sales. The tour was in support of the critically
and commercially successful “Tattoo You” album.
There were fifty dates on the tour which ran from
Philadelphia at the end of September through
to Hampton, Virginia on the 18th and 19th of
December. “Hampton Coliseum – Live |n 1981”
is the show from December 18th, which was also
Keith Richards’ birthday. |t was the first ever music
concert to be broadcast on television as a pay-perview event. The footage has now been carefully

“From The Vault” is a new series of live concerts
from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting
their first official release. The Rolling Stones’
“Tour Of The Americas ‘75” was the band’s first
tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. Even before
the dates started there were dramatic scenes in
New York City at the official tour announcement
when the band unexpectedly turned up on a
flatbed truck to play “Brown Sugar”. After a couple
of low key warm-up shows in Louisiana the tour
took in 44 dates between the 3rd June and the
8th August 1975. They settled into the L.A. Forum
for a five night stint from July 9th to 13th and this
concert film features the show from July 12th.
The footage has now been carefully restored and
the sound newly mixed to make this the perfect
addition to any Rolling Stones fan’s collection.
