I will eat some crow and admit that Vicki was right; her 2006 Street Glide is magazine worthy. We finally hooked up with Vicki at Arizona Bike Week, and this lady can ride a Bagger. When Vicki approached Matt, at Matt Risley Innovation, she wasn’t looking for a Drag Strip Bagger. The stock power was good enough for her; what Vicki wanted Matt to build was a reliable Bagger. One with good power and handling, and most of all traffic stopping looks. Matt Risely is better known for his ground-up custom V-Twins, however that is all about to change. Matt started the customizing with a set of Hogpro 8 Spoke wheels using a fat 21 X 3.5” up front and an 18 X 4.25” in the rear, with Hogpro 8 Spoke rotors and matching rear wheel pulley. Matt also installed a Legend Air Suspension™ air ride system for comfort. Next, Matt hand-fabricated the 6” stretched gas tank, and that gas tank could be the most impressive part of the bike. The stretched tank flows smoothly into the Gus Tieman custom seat. Matt did a great job changing the lines of the bike to look better with the custom gas tank. ricated the rear fender and incorporated a custom mounted license plate bracket. Klock Werks bag fillers were used to clean up the look of the tail section. Matt installed a set of Yaffe LED lights in the bags that function as brake lights, running lights and turn signals. With the back end finished, Matt turned his attention to the front end. Matt wired the Wild 1 Chubby Bagger Bar handlebars internally for a clean custom look. He made custom front brake lines and fittings, once again going for that clean custom look. The front LED turn signals were frenched into the fairing. Performance Machine grips and Screamin’ Eagle spun aluminum gauges show that nothing was overlooked in the customizing process. Even the audio system was upgraded with a set of Hog Tunes speakers and a hidden antenna. Matt didn’t stop his custom sheet metal with the gas tank. He hand-fab- It was now time for paint. Matt turned to the man who he trusts to paint all 78 - americanbaggermag.com - August 2007 of his bikes, Eric Carr of Steel Vision Custom Paint Design. Eric was itching to paint a Bagger, which is the hardest of all V-Twins to paint. Eric came up with a 4 stage paint process using platinum, Brandywine Candy and black in a two-tone paint scheme, with 24k gold leaf graphics and airbrushed skulls and spider webs in the front, inner fairing, gas tank, and rear bags. The end result is my favorite type of custom paint job: “Simple Elegance”. This is why some builders, once they find a great painter, use him exclusively. Vicki’s persistence paid off, we even gave her two riding shots. I am not sure if her persistence was due to her love for her motorcycle or her love for her nephew. It turns out that Eric Carr is Vicki’s nephew. I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot more from Eric and Matt. American Bagger Magazine Tech Specs Background Info.
