DOG URBAN BAGGER T H E O R I G I N A L M U LT I - C U LT U R A L B A G G E R A U T H O R I T Y POUN’ Story by: Dave Withrow Photos by: Jesse B. Nelson C helcey Malone of Olive Branch, MS, a suburb of Memphis, TN and one of the fastest growing cities in America, may not be a nationally known bike builder, but he will be happy to tell you how a Bagger should be designed. His Bagger named Dog Poun’ was conceived when he was sitting around the table with his boys, the guys from Leatherwood Motorcycle Works and O’s Custom Paint. Everybody’s input was welcome, but Chelcey had the final vote. He knew that he wanted to use a Street Glide for the donor because he strongly 76 - FEBRuARY 2013 - uRBANBAGGER.COM feels that when Harley first came out with the Street Glide, it dramatically changed the way people perceived the Bagger. Traveling to all of the shows, Chelcey can’t help but notice all of the Street Glides that have been customized. The other thing that he insisted on was a loud and fast motor. He feels Southerners talk loud, so he needs a loud motor to drown them out. Leatherwood M/C Works tore down the stock 96” motor and bumped it up to a 103”. upgrades include: diamond cut cylinders and heads, a Performance Machine air cleaner, Screamin’ Eagle top end, 58mm throttle body and Pro Tuner, Covingtons rocker boxes, RSD cam A DOWN SOUTH FLAVORED BAGGER cover and D&D exhaust. Brian Rose, at Bumpus Harley-Davidson, tuned the motor. Chelcey’s motor is now pushing 115 horses and 125 ft.-lbs. of torque. The Leatherwood crew cut and re-raked the neck. It now has a rake of 42 degrees. The front end received seven degree raked trees and Arlen Ness sliders. A 26” Performance Machine wheel, rotor and caliper ride uRBANBAGGER.COM - FEBRuARY 2013 - 77 Dog Poun’ up front and a matching 18” Performance Machine wheel rides on the back. The tall pulled-back bars are from Bagger Nation and feature Performance Machine hand controls and grips. The chrome headlight bezel is from Headwinds and the gauges are from Dakota Digital. Bagger Nation was the choice for the stretched gas tank, dash panel, seat, mirrors, side covers, front fender and engine guard. The stretched saddlebags, taillight/license plate mount and rear fender are all from FBI. The audio system was upgraded by Stereo One in Memphis. Performance Machine was also sourced for the horn cover, chin spoiler, floorboards, footpegs and foot controls. O’s Custom Paint in Bartlett, TN applied the candy red base with 24 karat gold leaf skulls. UB CHELCEY’S MOTOR IS NOW PUSHING 115 HORSES AND 125 FT.-LBS. OF TORQUE.
