Giacomo Brunelli - The Photographers` Gallery
GIACOMO BRUNELLI For the past few years Italian photographer Giacomo Brunelli (b. 1977) has been observing animals and using them as the inspiration for his work. Taken in both country and urban settings, Brunelli’s photographs explore the darker side of the animal kingdom. These frequently unsettling depictions of familiar, often domesticated, creatures question how much we truly understand them and their innate wildness. Brunelli uses a 35mm camera and photographs from a low angle, which allows him to get up close to his animal subjects. Printing the images small and in black & white, and retaining the black borders with rounded corners, creates a timeless element to the works. Recalling 19th century cabinet cards they take on a precious quality far removed from the wildlife photography we are used to seeing today. EDITION INFORMATION Prices start from £600 + vat.
