WOW, what a Spring Fling 2014. We had
46 tables rented and 70 people at the banquet. It is so much fun to watch us grow. If
you missed it, we had five TCCCC chapters
represented other than our own. Chapters
attending include Gateway from St. Louis,
Kansas, Colorado, California, Oklahoma,
Arkansas, and Iowa. It was so remarkable.
We wanted to include a community service
project for this Spring Fling in memory of
those we lost in the past several years. The
theme was Pause for a Cause and our
community service was Cancer Action.
Cancer Action provides wigs, helps with
medications, and provides Boost to get the
patients through the side effects of
chemotherapy. It was an easy process. We
sold cans of Coca-Cola product for $1.00.
One can of soda for a box a Boost. Cancer
Action provides approximately 250 cases of
Boost to patients in cancer care per month.
At the end of the evening, $360 was collected
for Cancer Action. We, as a club are proud
to contribute to the community in an effort
to make a better place for those who are
going through tough times. I personally
want to thank Martin, Lonnie, Bruce, and
Stephanie for the hard work and hours they
put in to pull all of this together. And let us
not forget about all the cards and letter that
Norene sends out to everyone. Other thanks
goes out to the Naudet family for their
donation of door prizes and Iris Harris who
donated 33 cases of bottles used for
registration packets and given away with a
donation to Cancer Action. The membership
really pulled together for a successful
Spring Fling. Thank you members!
We have several events and opportunities
coming up for you. Our June meeting
will be June 7, 2014 at Ryan’s Buffet
located on 10810 W 75th, Shawnee, KS.
Gary and Karen Grindel has graciously
volunteered to find our meeting place
and will open their home at the end of the
events. Lunch will begin between noon and
12:30. The short meeting will take place at
1:00. The Board will report on Spring Fling
and nominations for officers need to be
given to Bruce Carter. After the meeting, we
will head to the Johnson County Museum
which is free to enter. If you wish you may
also tour the 50’s Electronic Home.
Admission is $2.00. They have tours for 10
people every 30 minutes. It should be great
fun. I know most Ryan’s Buffets are closing,
so the location may change, but we will let
everyone know in advance.
I want to report to you that Janice
Robinson is at home recuperating from a
broken hip and is doing fine. Rodger has to
do dishes, but he says he gets through it on
a daily basis. Ron Huffman and Mark
Magel were both present at Spring Fling
after Aorta valve replacement. Martin
continues to improve if he will keep his leg
elevated, and Charlie Buck is still at the
Independence Rehab facility. He is doing
better so we hope he gets to go home soon.
Keep Lonnie and Debbie Fleetwood in your
prayers. Lonnie’s mother is under the care
of hospice and Lonnie has left for Arizona.

in Springfield, Illinois, you can get the

The auction is the 26th of May, (Memorial Day).
Glenworth Auction Service. Items will be listed
on the Glenworth website by May 1 or 2. Larry
and Cindy collected for a long time and managed
two Coca-Cola stores.
