E-Library News
Physical books will be a part of our collection for a long time, but we continue to grow our collection of digital content as
our users move with increasing frequency to these new devices and formats. If you have already purchased an e-reader,
learn how to borrow content from our website. If you have been reluctant to enter into this new age, let us make it easier
for you. Borrow an e-reader with books and magazines already pre-loaded and take the first exciting step into this new
world. Either way, all you need is your AWPL library card, and as always, we are here to help.
Dear Library Users,
Planning a trip or vacation this summer?
Did you know that the library can provide
lots of things to bring with you? Of course,
you can check out books and audio books
but there are lots of other things that
won’t take up any room in your suitcase.
We provide two different resources for downloading audio
books to your iPod, MP3 player or computer. OneClickdigital
and Overdirve are both available through our website and
provide access to downloadable audio books. Overdrive
provides access to ebooks as well. They can be downloaded to
your Kindle or Nook, computer and other Apple and Android
devices.
We also offer magazine downloads through
the Zinio magazine database.
Our new indieflix streaming movie
service offers online access to over
4,500 award winning shorts, feature films and documentaries
from more than fifty different countries.
Wherever your travels take you, as long as you have access
to our web page and your library card, you can use these
materials. Come visit or call us at the Help Desk for assistance
in setting up an account or downloading any materials.
In addition to these services, we also offer Kindle and Nook
devices to check out. The devices come preloaded with a wide
variety of bestselling titles. Some models provide access to
magazines, newspapers and the internet. Our Kindle Fires
allow access to movies and TV shows through the Amazon
Prime service.
Use these resources to make your summer activities even
more enjoyable! We would love to hear how you used them
this summer!
Have a happy and safe summer,
Laurie Angle

AWPL Foundation Scholarship Winners 2013
The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation congratulates the
winners of its 7th annual college scholarship competition. All are
seniors at Warwick Valley High School: Alan Held, Olivia Oleck

on polluting fossil fuels in favor of clean energy.” Alan will
matriculate at Cornell, where he plans to major in applied
economics and management; Olivia is bound for the College
of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, undecided on a
major but leaning toward international relations, and Nyssa will
pursue screen writing at New York University’s Tisch School of
the Arts.
Each scholarship winner will receive $1,000 toward college
tuition, thanks to the generosity of Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes,
sponsors since the inception of the competition in 2007, and of
C. Hope Arber, a longtime Library supporter. The Foundation will
