Bailey’s work can be described as contemporary impressionism. He specializes in oil and plein
air ( painting on location.) He has been painting since the age of 15 and was strongly influenced
by the Plein Air Painters of America and the impressionist masters of the past. “I am inspired by
being out in nature and painting light and shadow the way they interact within the subject.” He is
represented by the Right Angle Frame Shop and Gallery and is on Facebook at Facebook.com /

Diane Bay
270-205-2868
[email protected]
Artistically inclined since early childhood, Diane Bay painted with pastels and then watercolors
before focusing on graphite drawing. Several years ago she decided to jump into oil painting by
attending two workshops with Kentucky artist Bill Fletcher, where she learned plein-air oils.
Her passion is capturing natural light; i is intriguing to her that every color is affected by the
quality of available light and the reflection of other nearby colors. Her style in plein-air is
somewhere between realistic and impressionist.
Most recently she expanded into expressionism, and is learning to paint emotional experience in
a semi-abstract style.
Diane is a member of PAPA Gallery in Paducah, KY, and the Marshall County Art Guild. She was
chosen as the Marshall County Outstanding Artist for 2011. She has an Associates Degree and
two Graphic Design certificates from College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. She lives with her
husband Rich, her sister Denise, two sons and a granddaughter in Benton, KY.

Tracey buchanan
525 N. 8th Street
270-748-8645
[email protected]
Tracey Buchanan has had a long love affair with art – from practicing
drawing eyes and mouths on a sketchpad in the back seat during
family vacations to studying it formally in college and at workshops. Her
work, whether it be her simple illustrations in watercolor and ink or her
complex realistic paper collages, always emphasizes color and design. The
spectrum of nature’s moods, all of its drama as well as its whimsy, influences
her current work in abstract oil painting. She is a Kentucky Crafted artist and
has won several awards for her two-dimensional realistic collages,
recognition for her three-dimensional “Lookbook Boxes” and has been
selling her line of Flutterbies since 1996 in shops and galleries nationwide.
She is the author of Flutterbies: Overheard & Understood Bits of Wisdom
& Wit Fluttering by Along the Way, To Be Greater Than Marconi, The Nathan
B. Stubblefield Story, the Oak Grove Cemetery dramatizations, the Flood
Wall Mural dramatizations, and is writing a novel. Tracey lives with her
extremely right-brained husband (he’s an engineer, for gosh sakes) and her
multi-talented, but slightly askew, dog in Lower Town.

Robert Davis
1149 Jefferson
Jefferson Street Studios
Robert Davis developed his process for making his distinctive patterned
porcelain beads as an unexpected result of disposing of unwanted beads
at a Florida street fair in the early 1970’s. He had made the beads thinking
they would enhance his wife’s hanging planters but discovered that knotting
beads into a hanger was too time consuming for the amount of value they
produced. When they all sold quickly, Bob brained stormed different
approaches to making beads with a potter friend and before long, both
friends were challenging each other to develop new and interesting beads
using multiple porcelain clays. Bob eventually moved to New Jersey to a research position in Telecommunications but after retiring and moving to Paducah he decided to resurrect his interest in porcelain beads with the
encouragement of the Paducah School of Art and Design. Bob’s bead making technique combines ideas from glass lampworking, Egyptian pre-glass clay
beads and Japanese multi-clay ceramics now called Nerikomi and Neriage.
Bob and his wife Helene maintain a Gallery with Bead and Hand-Dyed Fabric Studios at Jefferson Street Studios, 1149 Jefferson, Paducah, KY open by
appointment.

After working many years for a large corporation in a variety of positions including publication
illustration and writing, I retired to use my experience to move in other directions. This ultimately
brought me to Paducah. Since then, The Paducah School of Art and Design has afforded me the
opportunity to concentrate on painting.
I have participated in a number of exhibitions including the Icehouse Gallery in Mayfield, the Yeiser
Art Center, the Art Guild of Paducah, and the student shows at the PSA&D.
My work is varied and includes landscapes, still life, figure painting and portraits. Light and shadows
are of particular interest to me, and my work reflects that. My paintings are informal and contemporary, which gives them an impressionistic feeling. My style is always evolving.

I am a native of Paducah and I began painting in 1974, a year after my
daughter was born, with a group we called “The Reidland Five”. Local artists
would meet on Wednesday each week and paint and learn from each other.
Until I took a portrait workshop from nationally known artist, Cleda Curtis,
my art was hit or miss. She taught each element of painting and my work
began to improve. I have taken many workshops with her through the years
and I give her credit for my work. I have worked in watercolor, acrylic and
oils. When I tried pastel I knew I had found my favorite. I work in short
increments of time and pastels lend themselves to this very well. I work
from photos to do portraits but I have setups for still life and go on
location and take reference photos for landscape. In 1991 I was privileged to
be one of the Charter members of Paducah Area Painters Alliance (PAPA).
An organization began by Clyde and JoAnn Lawter to help artists enjoy
their passion and to share their knowledge. I realized the importance of
being around other artist when I painted with the Reidland Five. I am the
Executive Director for the PAPA Gallery in Historic Downtown Paducah,
Kentucky. We are almost 100 strong and growing in numbers. I have been
honored to be in many juried and non-juried shows and the recipient of
many awards and ribbons through the years.

I am a watercolorist who uses a contemporary style to portray detailed glimpses of life in various
cultures. I see art, especially painting, as an opening to discussion, a window into new perceptions.
Art is a means of discovering not only others’ views of the world, but perhaps more importantly, a
way to greater self-discovery. My perceptions are influenced not only from my past experiences
but also my deafness, acquired over a 20-year period as a result of heredity. This disability has
become, in a sense, my ability to cue in more acutely to the visual world, especially in developing a greater awareness to the nuances of human emotion. I believe my paintings are reflective
of this acuity. In another way, my deafness has given me greater faith in nonverbal communication. Words are sometimes not enough to express the emotion or beauty in a scene and serve
as poor substitutes for the strength of the visual. Painting helps me to convey my feelings about a
situation that moves me, sometimes without my even knowing why.
I remain faithful to realism in my paintings to establish a connection with people and to relate my
vision of the world to others. I trust in this connection to initiate a questioning of perceptions,
an examination of different cultural experiences, or perhaps merely a greater appreciation of the
beauty in the world. Through my paintings I hope to create a means to greater self-discovery and
awareness.

I have loved art all my life. My Grandmother painted with mud, berries, shoe polish on cardboard
or anything she could find. My 6th grade teacher saw something
in me and encouraged me in my art. From the 6th grade through the 12th grade, I did bulletin
boards, year books and whatever was needed with Juanita Neal and
Becky Lambert. We were a team. ha
I am a charter member of PAPA. I have done commissions, but I say I will never, never do a
commission again. I like to paint something, put a price on it and if it sells it is ok and if it doesn’t it
is still ok. I have sold several paintings through the years. Paducah is full of great art and artists. I love everyone at PAPA. We are a big family.
I have drawing classes in my home on Mondays only. I am not a teacher. I am an encourager.
Art has had seasons in my life. Sometimes I am very passionate about art but life gets in the way. I appreciate the opportunity to take part in Meet the Artists.

I was born on a horse and cattle farm so animals have always been a part of
my life. Seven years ago a good friend got me started in the alpaca
business . After falling in love with the alpacas I then went to school for
shearing and now shear for other people and myself. I spend a lot of
time processing my fiber into felted and knitted wearable items as well as
weaving and spinning. I make a large variety of wearables such as felt hats,
scarves, fingerless gloves and material that I turn into sewn items. I want
people to experience alpaca fiber and understand it’s wonderful properties
and uses. I have two college degrees that somewhat fit into what I do , the
first is graphic design and the second is veterinarian assistant but have found
that the fiber art is defiantly a large part of my life. Living in southern Illinois
is the perfect place to relax and enjoy making art.

As a maker, I enjoy exploring the marks left behind by any artist. As a potter, I enjoy the utility of
handcrafted art objects, like cups or bowls and especially beginning each day off with a latte in a
handmade mug. The way the handle fits in my hand or the complexity of the glaze entertains my
imagination throughout the day. I inspect the motions that the potter when through during the
creative process and notice every purposeful or unintentional detail.
As a native of Louisiana and an explorer of the South, Paducah Kentucky is where I have decided
to build my home and studio thanks to the Artist Relocation Program. I received my BFA in Art
Education with an emphasis in painting and ceramics from the University of Southern Mississippi. I
currently teach art at McCracken County High School in Paducah.
Each of my vessels are hand built from locally dug Kentucky clays. I have incorporated numerous
textures. I use traditional ash and shino glazes as well as colored slips on my works and enjoy how
simple they are but also how complex they can become. Ultimately, I treat the surface of the
vessels much like a painter might by applying and subtracting layers of textures and glazes. Most
of my wares are fired in wood burning kilns and I enjoy the physical labor that goes into that
particular firing process. Recently, I have been visiting local bar-b-que spits and acquiring ashes to
use for my in my ash glaze recipes. Thus, adding an even more local “flavor” to my works.

Betty was born and raised in Dickson Co. Tennessee, in a very small place called Bon Aqua, a
beautiful place, a place of hills and woods and fast running waters. She loved the wild places and
wild things around her. Her love of art formed and grew in those beautiful wild places, she always
loved color and her favorite things were her crayons, coloring cooks and drawing paper.
She worked as a medical assistant and did not start painting seriously until she retired and being
basically self-taught decided to study under several artist whose work she admired, in doing so she
has developed her own style resulting in bold expressive paintings.
Although she works in other mediums, watercolor remains her medium of choice, she finds the
transparent, luminous quality of watercolor suits her style of painting, her love of the outdoors and
the wonders of Mother Nature remain her favorite subjects.
Betty belongs to several art organizations and considers those vital to the continuing learning process that is art, she has won awards with her work and has had several one man shows, her work
can be found in both private and corporate collections.
She and her husband, Steve live on beautiful Lake Barkley, there she can watch the hawks sore, the
eagles catch fish and hear the music of the owls at night. A truly magical place.
In her words:
“Art is a magnificent obsession, Art is also my passion.
I believe you should work at your art every day, I believe you must keep
Learning, do not become stagnant and complacent in your work but keep
Seeking the rainbow, it is a wonderful journey. “

In 1975 I began painting; and since 2002 (when I retired), have been trying to paint a little every
day…at least when I am home. The last four years, I have been painting scenes using the evening
light; especially people enjoying all that a busy downtown has to offer.
My work can been seen at the PAPA Gallery, 124 Broadway; and at The Right Angle, 4645 Village
Square Drive – both in Paducah, KY; also in Studio 19 Fine Art in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Presently, I live in Karnak, Illinois, with my wife, Gae. We both enjoy traveling, taking photos and
being involved in our local church and community.

In both my abstract and figurative work I try to interpret emotion and
feeling into a three-dimensional form, which can be a challenge, but the
result can also be memorable. My works of art are in public, private and
corporate collections in the United States and Europe
I’m an artist because; my need to create is to my soul, as breathing is to my
life. A necessity!

William Renzulli is a self-taught artist who left his 9-year practice of internal
medicine in 1981 to pursue a career in art. For 20 years he divided his time

a variety of mixed mediums. The landscapes have become more rural, but
the architectural elements persist Renzulliʼs paintings have been exhibited
in numerous solo and juried shows. He has been commissioned to create
both commemorative prints and original work for a number of institutions,

Michael Terra, (also known as the Mud Poet), with his lovely wife/organizational goddess Victoria,
lives in the Lower Town area of Paducah, KY. With an unreasonable number of years of doing
various different types of art behind him, he has been working as a full-time Ceramic Sculptor for
the last 16 years. This takes him, and his lovely family, all over the country- from New York City to
Seattle- to juried art shows and festivals.
“I love to work with everything but I particularly love creating ceramic pieces that include words
and ideas that involve and engage the viewer. If I do it just right then I can remind you of your own
history and story and not tell you mine. All of the words that I use are of my own composition
and as such, you must blame me as the author as well as the sculptor. My methods are some of
the oldest known to man- I take a lump of clay and mush it with my hands until I think it’s time to
stop! Somehow, without the use of machines, molds or elves, I manage to make lots of art. I often
use layers of engobes, oxides and glazes in the second firing to establish a sort of ambiguity as to
the age of each piece... modern work that looks almost ancient! You can find my work in over
71 galleries and Museum Shops around the country, as well as in our own Studio/Gallery at
514 N. 7th Street here in Paducah!”

I’ve always loved to draw and create! As an adult, with a few drawing lessons, and later an
instruction book from acrylic fine art painter Jerry Yarnell, I began painting. After a couple of
successful landscape scenes, I decided to begin painting other interesting subjects using photos
for reference. I began posting pictures of my artworks on Facebook and my friends not only
complimented my work, they wanted to buy my paintings!
I decided that I needed a challenge, so I painted my first person and animal. I titled this 11X14
acrylic painting “Wondering” as the older gentleman and the young cow both gaze away at the
unknown. I was so pleased with the painting that I decided to enter it into two local art
competitions in 2011. I was thrilled when it won 2nd place in each competition!
In search of other artists and after meeting all of the wonderful artists at The PAPA Gallery, I had
to join! Everyone at PAPA is extremely supportive of my efforts in the arts. With their support,
and the support of my husband and son, I now have art in private collections across the country.
In February of 2012, my oil painting titled “The West is One” tied in the people’s choice vote with
an accomplished PAPA member’s artwork. Both pieces were placed on the “Wall of Honor” in
the gallery. I painted this 16X20 in the monochromatic style using only burnt umber with white
paint.
At age 53, I have discovered that it is never too late to follow your dreams. I plan to continue
painting as long as God honors me with the ability.

Kristin Williams has spent a lifetime playing with fabric, yarn, glitter, clay, rubber stamps, paper,

great value in children’s art and craft classes and supplies. That planted a seed for lifelong learning.
Kristin opened Ephemera Paducah April 2013 in Paducah’s Lower Town Arts District, and offers
hard-to-find art & craft supplies as well as a huge array of classes in her workshop space. National
instructors travel to the shop monthly teach, and local talent is well-utilized to bring the
community workshops in Mixed Media, Encaustic, Stained Glass, Jewelry-making, Collagraphy
Printing and just about everything in-between. Art journaling, lettering, and an everlasting love of
collage are Kristin’s current fascinations and basis for her artwork. A Knoxville, Tennessee native,
