We will start out at St. Mary's then to Christ the King then to St. Pat’s and ending here. Please consult the cover and Page 4 for the times. I think it is very important that we work together on this to give the McHenry community great options to go to Reconciliation with a wide variety of priests and times. Last weekend, Fr. Godwin's plane was cancelled and he did not get home until midday Sunday, so we were glad to help out at the last minute. Fr. Tim was already helping with a Mass at St. Mary's, then he took one at St. Pat’s and had one here. I think he is the only priest to celebrate Mass at all three churches on the same weekend. It is good to see us working together and helping each other out. I feel like we are becoming a united McHenry Catholic Community. I hope you are enjoying that too. I see people from all our parishes at daily Mass. It is good to see us working together on helping those living in poverty to try to get them out of poverty. WE OFFER OUR PRAYERS FOR: All the homeless, the unemployed, the military, the addicted, the grieving, the imprisoned, and the physically and emotionally ill. Come join others praying the Rosary, Monday through Saturday, at 7 AM. Daily Mass follows at 7:30 AM. United we are strong; divided we perish. Have a Blessed Day and Week! Father Paul SURRENDER TO MERCY Week 5: Go and sin no more We are saved by the Cross, no longer condemned, free to live and to love The difference between human judgment and God's judgment is mercy. By dying on the Cross, Christ took away all sin, once and for all. We are freed from the past and from condemnation and from judgment. When we truly believe in the forgiveness of God we can be free—free to build the kingdom. We surrender our guilt and our shame to be fully human, living in God's tender and loving mercy, and leading others to do the same. Page 4 We Share Our Blessings Our Parish Tithe this week will be given to St. Baldrick Foundation to Conquer Pediatric Cancer. Day of Reconciliation—March 16 Every time we sin, we hurt ourselves, other people and God. The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also called Penance or Confession) was given to us by Christ to help us reconcile with Christ and his Church when we have committed harm. Through the Sacrament, we acknowledge our sins, express our sorrow in a meaningful way, receive the forgiveness of Christ and his Church, make reparation for what we have done and resolve to do better in the future. The rite for Reconciliation involves four parts: Contrition: a sincere sorrow for having offended God and the most important act of the penitent. There can be no forgiveness of sin if we do not have sorrow and a firm resolve not to repeat our sin. Confession: confronting our sins in a profound way to God by speaking about them -aloud- to the priest. Penance: an important part of our healing is the "penance" the priest imposes in reparation for our sins. Absolution: the priest speaks the words by which "God, the Father of Mercies" reconciles a sinner to Himself through the merits of the Cross. Our McHenry area parishes will offer a full day of Reconciliation on Wednesday, March 16, as follows: St. Mary, McHenry: 9 AM to 12 noon Christ the King, Wonder Lake: 12 to 2 PM St. Patrick, McHenry: 2 to 5 PM Holy Apostles: 6 to 8 PM Come, take advantage of this opportunity to prepare your heart for the Risen Christ. The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, IL Join or Give to Our St. Baldrick’s Team We are excited and gearing up again for our third St. Baldrick’s Community Shave Event on Wednesday, March 16, at McHenry West High School (last year’s LARGEST SHAVE EVENT). Please consider signing up to be part of this year’s Holy Apostles Team to raise money to conquer childhood cancer or sponsor someone who is on the team by making a donation. This exciting event truly makes a difference to children and their families affected by cancer. Joining the Holy Apostles team or donating to an existing team member is easy to do: Go to www.thechurchofholyapostles.org. Click on the big green “McHenry Community Shave” box on the right side of the home page. Click on Join or Donate and follow the directions. Each of us has been touched by a family member or a friend who has or has had cancer. Take those feelings and extend them to an innocent child and their family. The monies collected go to research to fight childhood cancer. Your donation could be the one that finds a cure. Join our team, or donate to one of the team members. We all have a part to play in this battle against cancer. You can also help this cause by purchasing a St. Baldrick’s t-shirt, the proceeds of which directly benefit local families with children who are being treated for cancer. Another Way to Support St. Baldrick’s Want to show your support for St. Baldrick’s but don’t want to go bald? Why not go GREEN? TODAY March 13, hair stylists from Hair Ink Salon, 1201 Adams Dr., McHenry, will be here at Holy Apostles after the 8 AM and 10 AM Masses offering GREEN hair extensions and GREEN feathers. Each feather or extension is $10. Last year, with the help of our amazing community, Hair Ink was able to raise over $5,000! And remember, 100% of funds raised from hair extensions and feathers benefit LOCAL families who have a child suffering from cancer. Please help them raise funds to help ease the burden these families experience.
