WE ARE TO BE TRANSFORMED
Today’s showing forth of God’s glory is filled with a light
that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor
energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of
it. They can be forgiven for not apprehending the full meaning of
this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and
Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on
this mountain.
The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this
Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed.
The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do
not lose heart and fall entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter.
It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and
acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
(Dec. 8, 2015 – Nov. 20, 2016)
“Lent is a favorable time for letting Christ serve us so that we in
turn may become more like him. This happens whenever we
hear the word of God and receive the sacraments, especially the
Eucharist. There we become what we receive: the Body of
Christ. In this body there is no room for the indifference which
so often seems to possess our hearts.”
~Pope Francis
Taken from “Crossing the Threshold of Mercy” page 45
Spiritual Work of Mercy: Bearing Wrongs Patiently
Frustrated with someone at home or work? Step away from the
situation, take a few deep breaths, pray the Our Father, asking
God for patience.

If you have any religious articles, religious pictures, books,
rosaries, etc. and don’t want them any longer, but just don’t want
to throw them away….we have an option for you. You may drop
your items off at the Parish Center or St. John’s/Hugo beginning
Feb. 13th/14th through March 13th. There will be collection
boxes at these sites for you to leave your items. Any questions,
please call Mary Lou at 651-429-2140.
TC Habitat-Lent Build
Once again during Lent, along with our CRS collection of the
Rice Bowl, we will be offering a collection for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity called Lent Build, 40 days of Prayer, Service
and Sacrifice. If you missed it in last week’s bulletin look for
the calendar in the back of the church. The first 8 town homes
are almost ready for the families and 9 new homes will be started
this spring! As we follow our mission to serve God in our communities, let us take this opportunity to reflect on the enormous
blessing that stable housing is in our life and the gift that it is to
children. Let us truly depend on the Holy Spirit to inspire, encourage, and challenge us during this Lenten season. Lent build
donations can be put in the collection basket at the end of Lent
and during the Easter season. Thank you!
Lent Build Reflection
The Second Sunday of Lent: The joy of modern appliances!
Where would we be without these wonders of efficiency?
Which one would you choose if you could only use one this
week? Maybe take a vote at dinner and see which appliance
wins; don’t forget to include the refrigerator in your vote. A
dishwasher, washer, and dryer will not be included in the new
town homes being built in Hugo and families will need to save
up for these appliances. Be mindful this week of the convenience and joy that our many electronic appliances and devices
bring to our lives. May we continue to rely on the Holy Spirit
to inspire, encourage, and challenge us.
The Next Habitat Build Opportunity
Wednesday, March 9th & Thursday, March 10th Are you on
Spring Break? Come spend a day or two helping us finish up
the Hugo homes so the families can move in! You must be at
least 16 to be on site. The work day is from 8:15am-4:00pm.
We are Painting, Caulking, and miscellaneous finish work.
Anyone can do that! We hope you will join us. Call Julie @
651-328-4779 to join the crew.
CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES
If you choose to make your donations electronically and do not
wish to receive contribution envelopes, please contact the parish
office at [email protected] or 651-429-7937 and we will stop the
envelope delivery. Thank you!
We welcome Barry & Margaret Evans and

How To Get More Out of Mass
Pray. The Mass is the sour ce and summit of our lives as
Catholics, but it was never meant to carry the entire burden of
our spiritual lives. Pray, even if it is just a quick “Thanks be to
God” on the way out the door. Before Mass begins, ask God to
open your ears to God’s word, your eyes to see God in the
parishioners around you, your heart to God’s message, your
mouth to joyfully praise God and profess your love.
-**Watch for more suggestions in upcoming bulletins.
Rounding the Corner: Park and Pray Update
This week, we’re proud to report that more than $161,433 has
been raised toward our new parking lot. It has been a long
winter and we are so grateful for your support and
prayers. There’s still time to get involved. Donating is easy,
just use the yellow Park and Pray envelopes (available at the
entryways) or give online at stgens.org. You also may want
to check if your company offers a matching funds program. We appreciate everything you’ve done to keep us on
track.
Wondering about the Park and Pray Project?
Representatives from the parking lot committee will
be available this weekend after all Masses to answer
your inquiries about the parking lot. Also, be sure to
stop by if you have questions about donating online
using a banking account or credit card.
NEW BIBLE STUDY OPTION-TUESDAY NIGHT
In addition to the Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening sessions, there is a Tuesday session 6:30-8:00pm beginning March 1 and ending April 26. You do not need to commit to all 9 weeks. Come as often as you are able. It’s a great
way to grow your faith during Lent. The Little Rock Bible
study--The Acts of the Apostles is the focus. Acts is the second volume of the literary work begun in the Gospel According to Luke. Acts tells the story of the spread of the Gospel
and the growth of the early church from its beginnings at Pentecost, after the ascension of Jesus. This study is for everyone
even if you have never attended a bible study. Sign up by
contacting the parish office at [email protected] or 651-4297937. There is a $15 fee for the book used in the study.
Cribbage Club
We meet on Monday, Feb 22nd at 1:00 pm at the Rice Lake
Centre Building. You do not have to be a member of the
Senior Club to join us. We look forward to our regular
players and welcome new ones! The coffee is always on and
also treats. If you have any questions, please call Alice at
651-429-4413.
