Basketeers Newsletter Launching The Basketeers 2015 Campaign! February 2015 Vol. 5, Issue 1 The words “Thank You” never seems quite enough for the amount of support every Basketeer contributes to our annual fundraiser. The love that goes into each and every basket for a woman in need leaves me speechless. I stand in the Salvation Army Hall at 8:00am and see a vast empty space and think to myself “I hope everyone knows it’s today” as the room fills with baskets, volunteers, Basketeers, social workers and students the room takes on a whole new meaning and look that is absolutely breathtaking and for me there is no better day or vision. It encompasses the best of our generosity and spirit. Congratulations as a group we finished with an increase of 12% over 2013, supporting 1,488 women in 12 cities. The GTA chapter was slightly down from 625 baskets to 584 but still a powerful finish. This brings our annual total for the past 15 years to 12,002 baskets and 2.4 million In Kind Donations. In 2015 we will be launching a new Basketeers chapter in Kitchener, Ontario and also St. John’s, Newfoundland. Congratulations we really are a village! He was always there for all of my Basketeers events and charity requests. From moving furniture for refugee families to moving 1000 laundry baskets at Rubbermaid he never complained. He will be sorely missed.
