Spotlight on Steve Dodson
This month’s “Member Spotlight” focuses on Steve Dodson. Steve
currently owns a1968 Buick Electra convertible, a 1962 Chevy Corvair
convertible, and three 1957 Mercury’s (one drivable 4-door hardtop; one
2- door hardtop which is being restored and one 2-door hardtop parts car).
When asked which was his all time favorite car, Steve said it was his 1957
Mercury 4- door hardtop. The reason being his first car was a 1957
Mercury Montclair 2-door hardtop he owned when he was 18 years old
and a senior in high school. His current 4-door hardtop brings back lots
of memories. It’s pink and white (yes, pink) with full power everything
and is a real pleasure to drive.
Steve joined the Gateway Chapter Club 20 years ago when he first
acquired his 1968 Electra and our club was hosting a Heartland Regional
Show at a Holiday Inn Hotel in North County. Steve has been a very
active member; being elected President for two years, Vice President for
four years and has served on numerous committees.
Steve’s hobby is stained glass, which he has been doing for 30 years.
Mostly he does work for private homes, but he has created some large
windows for churches also.

Meeting Minutes, July 18, 2011
Hi Everyone!
The July monthly meeting was held on Monday, July
18th at Fuddruckers restaurant. We had a very good
turnout with about 27 members and two guests, Denise
Kirby and Bill Thomas.
Well, I was wishing for summer to get here, but now
it's almost too hot to play with our cars.
Shar and I had a nice time at the Nationals in
Danvers. We got to see a lot of nice cars we hadn't
seen before. Our extended trip up the Maine coast
was quite beautiful. This part of our vacation was
very relaxing after the busy Nationals. We also
discovered that you can never have too much Maine
lobster!

The Club's Ste. Genevieve trip has been moved to
October 21-23 because of the heat. After the final
arrangements are made, we'll have more information
to provide. Because this is a busy month for the
wineries, if you are thinking about staying overnight,
it would be great to let me know as soon as possible,
so I can keep an eye on the room block. Thanks!

Sunday was parish picnic day at Our Lady Help of
Christians Church in Weingarten, MO. It was a lovely
day, not a cloud in the sky, no wind, just a gentle
breeze every once in a while to try to break the mild
100 degree heat. Had the Ste. Genevieve tour not been
cancelled, all those who were planning to go on the
tour could have gone to the picnic also. The dinner
was delicious, as usual, especially the LIVER
DUMPLINS.
Some of the other events they have are bingo, beer,
hamburgers, beer, wheat threshing powered by a steam
engine, beer, tractor show, beer, all sorts of very old
farm machinery, beer, live country music, beer, poker
