Mission Statement
Under the patronage of Mary,
Mother of the Redeemer, we are
a growing faith community
centered in the Eucharist and
dedicated to worshiping God,
our Father.
In response to our baptismal
call, we commit ourselves to
promote the gospel of His Son,
Jesus Christ, through Christian
hospitality, spiritual nurturing,
evangelical outreach, and
shared social experience.
We call upon each parishioner
to share his or her talents in
addressing the needs of our
parish and society at large.
We implore the Holy Spirit to
consecrate each of us in this
mission.

Mass On Labor Day
Monday, September 5th, is Labor Day. Mass at Mary, Mother of the
Redeemer Church that day will be celebrated at 9:00 am in the main
church. There will not be a 7:30 am Mass that day. This Labor Day,
let us reflect on the value of work and on how we recognize and respect the dignity of all workers. Please make every effort to attend
Mass that day.
MMR Observes Patriot Day 2016
15th Anniversary of 9/11
Patriot Day is observed every September 11th to
mark the terrorist attacks on that date in 2001
against the United States. It is suggested that, along with our prayers, it
be a day of service. On the weekend of September 10th and 11th,
Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish will conduct a drive for the homeless men who are served daily by St. John’s Hospice in Philadelphia.
We will be collecting the following items in the narthex:
 New underwear (briefs and boxers)
 New short-sleeved t-shirts (large and x-large sizes are most
needed)
 Toiletries (smaller sizes) – soap, disposable razors, shaving
cream, deodorant, and shampoo
 Toothbrushes and toothpaste, and combs
Containers will be provided throughout the weekend. Also, monetary
donations placed in the poor boxes that weekend will be sent to St.
John’s Hospice. God bless you for your goodness to some of the most
vulnerable of our community!
An Evening of Prayer for Addictions
A Holy Hour and Benediction
Come to pray for a loved one, for yourself, or even for a stranger who
is living in the grasp of an addiction. Come together to support those in
recovery and to pray for those struggling with addictions on Monday,
September 19th, 7:30 pm at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church.
Fr. Douglas McKay will be the presider and preacher.
Fr. McKay was ordained a priest in 1982 for the Archdiocese of
Philadelphia. For over 20 years, he served as the chaplain of Holy
Family Home, serving the elderly with the Little Sisters of the Poor.
He is the founder and spiritual director of Our House Ministries, Inc., in
the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. He also serves as chaplain of
the Calix Society, Philadelphia Unit, which proclaims the Catholic faith to
the Alcoholics Anonymous membership. In 2015, Father McKay was the
recipient of the St. Rita Peace Award in recognition of his long term commitment helping the
downtrodden overcome life-threatening
addictions to alcohol, drugs, depression and
crime.
The Parish Office will be CLOSED
on Monday, September 5th for Labor Day.

guide your teen. The adult sessions run simultaneously with the teen
sessions. Parents who do not have a teen registered are still able to
attend the parent class for the cost of the book.

Friday Adoration Resumes Soon
“The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us
in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in
adoration..." 1980 - "On The Mystery And Worship Of The Eucharist" Encyclical
Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays at MMR Parish will resume on Friday, September 9th.
Adoration will begin following the Prayer After Communion at the 7:30 am Mass (at
the 9:00 am Mass during Advent and Lent) and will come to a close at 5:00 pm with
simple reposition of the Blessed Sacrament. With the Holy Father’s announcement of a
Holy Year of Mercy, the 3:00 pm hour will be devoted to the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Chaplet cards will be made available.
We need many adorers to share their time with our Eucharistic Lord to pray for our families, our parish,
our country and our world. This year you can sign up for Adoration times on our parish website. On our
Mass times page click the Adoration sign up form. However, you can contact Melissa Mussoline at
[email protected] to schedule your Adoration time as well.
The Bereavement Ministry of MMR and St. Stanislaus Parishes
Crazy Is Normal. During the period of intense grief, people often think they are going
crazy. Some people hear voices or see visions; others find themselves attached to odd
objects. Come join us to talk about your experience at the MMR/St. Stan’s Bereavement
Support Group on Thursday, September 8th. There will be a morning group at MMR
from 10-11:30am in the Parish Conference room. There will be an evening group at St.
Stanislaus from 7-8:30pm in the Parish center. No registration is necessary, just come if
you can. Our next two meetings are:

November 10, 2016: Preparing for the Holidays when You Are Grieving
Second Collection For
Black and Native Americans
Mission Office
Recognizing a need to call the faithful to
support missionary work among African
American and Native American Catholics,
the U.S. Catholic bishops established this
Catholic Church charity for the Catholic
Missions in 1884 to administer a national
collection - the first of its kind in the United States - to support missionary work.
Ever since the first collection in 1884, the
Commission has administered the yearly,
national Black and Indian Mission Collection. The generosity of the good People of God allows the Commission to give
helpful grants to dioceses across the country to operate schools, parishes, and other
missionary services that build the Body of
Christ in Native American, Alaska Native,
and Black Catholic communities.
