BLOOD PRESSURE Are favorite Memorial Medical Center Nurse Muriel will be here the Second Wednesday of each month at 10:30. Thank you to Niagara Falls Memorial Wellness Director Charles Walker for promoting this program! AS I PREPARE THESE CALENDARS ABOUT A MONTH IN ADVANCE I CAN’T HELP TO PONDER THE QUESTION, ”IS IT OVER YET?!?!!!” I AM SURE YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT, WINTER. AS A NATIVE TO THIS AREA I THINK I GO THROUGH THE SAME CYCLE AS EVERYONE. SINCE OUR FIRST BITE OF COLD IN OCTOBER I ENJOYED GETTING OUT MY WINTER CLOTHES, IT’S LIKE SHOPPING BECAUSE YOU NEVER QUITE REMEMBER WHAT YOU HAVE. THE COZY NIGHTS AND ESPECIALLY WATCHING THE FIRST SNOW FLAKES FLOAT GENTLY DOWN. I HOPE AND PRAY FOR THE PICTURUESQUE WHITE CHRISTMAS, WHICH WE WERE GRANTED. THIS NOSTALGIA FOR WNY WEATHER ONLY SEEMS TO LAST FOR A SMALL TIME. AND THEN ALONG WITH THE REST OF YOU, I GET OVER IT. I START THINKING OF COZY NIGHTS AS LOCK DOWN. I DREAD MY THERMOSTAT AS IT CALLS MY NAME . EVERYTIME I TURN THAT LITTLE SUCKER EVEN A QUARTER OF AN INCH I SWEAR I CAN HEAR IT LAUGHING AT ME. AND THEN COMES THE THOUGHT OF THOSE BEAUTIFUL SNOWFLAKES THAT I WATCHED FALL GRACEFULLY TO THE GROUND. NOW THEY SLAM INTO MY WINDOW AND CLOG UP THE STREETS, I ONCE AGAIN PUT ON MY RIDUCULOUS HUGE BOOTS AND GO IN FOR BATTLE. I KICK AT MY SHOVEL ,BECAUSE OF COURSE MY ONLY PLATOON MEMBER IS PROMPTLY FROZEN IN A BANK OF SNOW. FINALLY KICKING IT LOOSE, (NOT WITHOUT DAMGE TO MY FOOT). I BEGIN THE DIG OUT. AS I DIG AND STRAIN TO SEE SIDEWALK I MAKE IT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE STREET. FEELING VERY ACCOMPLISHED, ONLY TO TURN AROUND AND SEE THAT I HAVE LOST THIS BATTLE. I AM NOW SNOWED OUT OF THE HOUSE AND ALONE AT THE END OF THE SIDEWALK.WITH NO REMNANTS OF MY SHOVELING LEFT BEHIND ME. I GIVE IN AND SHOVEL MY WAY BACK TO THE DOOR. I PEEL OF MY UNIFORM, WALK BY THE THERMOSTAT REALLY CRANK IT UP, I LAUGH WITH IT THIS TIME SAYING BACK, “SOON YOU WILL BE OFF.” BUT SOFTLY IN MY HEAD I CAN ONLY THINK “IS IT OVER YET?!?!” APRIL LASALLE FACILITY 2014 The following is for our 9501 Colvin Blvd Location 283-4476.
