February 5th—Bowling
Bowling at Kingpin begins at 10 am on 2/5/15.
We’ve reserved the lanes, the shoes and have
ordered pizza for lunch. Total cost is $10 which
includes 3 games, shoe rental, snacks & pizza.
February 10th—St. Louis Stompers/Cunetto’s
A few seats remain for our trip to the Sheldon
featuring the St. Louis Stompers on Tuesday
2/10/15 to enjoy their musical mix of New
Orleans and Dixieland style jazz. Its then
off to Cunetto’s on the Hill for a delicious
lunch featuring the sandwich of your choice complete
with a small salad, side of pasta and spumoni for
dessert. The bus will leave the Community
Center at 8:30 am and return at approximately
3 pm. The total cost for transportation, show &
lunch is $50. Payment due now.
February 20th/March 11th –
Factory Tours—Chocolate &
Spaghetti
Join us on two favorite factory tours on
Friday, 2/20 and Wednesday, 3/11 as
we enjoy an early lunch at The Old Spaghetti
Factory. It’s then on to the new chocolate tour
of Bissinger’s Factory which will highlight the
company’s 350 year history spotlighting the art
& craft of their award winning confections.
Of course samples & purchases can be made.
The tour last approximately 45 minutes
beginning at 1 pm. The bus will leave the
Community Center at 10:30 a.m. and return at
approximately 3:30 p.m. Due to limited space
(a maximum of 25), a second tour will be scheduled on 3/11/15. Total cost $35. Payment due
2/13 for Feb trip & 3/3 for March trip.

March 6th—Missouri Baptist
Join us for Senior Adult Day at Missouri Baptist
University on Friday, 3/6 with their program
Memories and Melodies: Celebrating 50 Years.
Included in the program is a delicious lunch of family style fried chicken. The bus will leave the
Community Center at 8:30 a.m. & return approximately 2 p.m. Total cost for show, bus & lunch is
$35. Payment due 2/27/15.
March 18th-Irish Arts- the Sheldon
Enjoy the music of Ireland from traditional reels to
Irish jigs performed by Celtic fiddler Kevin Buckley
at the Sheldon on Wednesday, 3/18.
Its then on to The Dubliner for a delicious lunch
(menu TBA.) The bus will leave the Community
Center at 8:30 am and return at appr. 2:30 pm.
Total cost for bus,show & lunch is $50.
April 1st —Alton Belle Casino
Having fun is as easy as ABC when we travel to the
Alton Belle Casino on Wednesday, 4/1 for
senior day...lunch is $7.99 + tax/tip(ON YOUR
OWN) for all seniors who have an Argosy Players
card. Don’t be foolish...join us for some gambling
and lunch at The Captain’s Table Buffet. The bus
will leave the Community Center at 9 a.m. and
return at approximately 2 pm. Total cost is $22.
April 19th—I Love Lucy @
the Peabody
Join us on Sunday, 4/19 as we become a part of
the studio audience at the Peabody Opera House as
they film episodes of America’s favorite foursome
(Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred) for a new medium
known as television! Enjoy their antics as well as
the sounds of the Ricky Ricardo Orchestra and the
advertising jingles of the day in this unique stage
show. Bus leaves the Center at 12 noon.
Total cost for bus/show is $50. There is no meal
w/this trip!

to La Bonne Bouche located at
I-270 and Olive.
La Bonne Bouche offers the same
authentic French patisserie and café that one
would find in the romantic city of Paris...right
here in St. Louis. An advanced payment of $17
will include a limited menu featuring your
choice of two entrees (with soup or salad)
or one entrée salad. All choices include rolls,
beverages and DESSERT!

Our film series continues on Thursday, 2/12 with the film “The Judge”
about a big shot attorney (R. Downey
Jr.) who returns to his childhood home
where his father (Robert Duvall), the
local judge is suspected of murder.

On Thursday, 2/19 we’ll show the
thriller “Gone Girl” about a husband
(Ben Affleck) who becomes a suspect
following his wife’s disappearance
amidst a media frenzy. R—149 min.

Wheels programs. The
Bridgeton program is

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
NAME: June Garrone
BIO: While June was growing up & attending
schools in the Ritenour district, she often went
with her parents to visit their good friends the
Garrone’s who had a handsome son named
John. Their friendship blossomed into a
romance and in 1939, at age 18 June and
John were married with joyful blessings from
both families. The young couple settled in St.
John MO and two sons (Michael and Lynn)
soon followed. Not long after their arrival,
John was drafted by the US Army and
stationed in the Aleutian Islands leaving June
at home with two babies! Upon his discharge,
John found a job with D’Arcy Advertising
Agency before becoming manager of National
Food Stores. June was a homemaker while
the boys attended Ritenour schools. Once they
graduated, she worked part-time for
Montgomery Ward and many years as a top
saleswoman for Frederick’s of Hollywood at
Northwest Plaza.
Both John & June were avid golfers and
continued to stay active and busy through
retirement. While attending an exercise class
at the Bridgeton Community Center, they
discovered the MEAAA Senior Center and
found their “home away from home” as volunteers serving lunch at the steam table. Since
John’s passing in 2007, June continued volunteering in various ways, counting donations
and carrying trays. In her spare time, June
enjoys bingo, trips to the casino and working
Quiptoquips. Last year, June moved to the
Holy Angels Apartments making Bridgeton
her official home and quickly made many
friends while she continues to visit & volunteer in the MEAAA center daily. Her family
has grown to include 6 grandkids, 6 greatgrandkids and 3 great-great-grandkids and
makes this 94 year old Grandma very proud!

(CORP) offers a wide variety of
services to all St. Louis county seniors
ranging from home care and repair,
legal assistance, tax assistance, telephone
reassurance and transportation services
for medical and other necessary appointments.
For Legal Assistance, contact Joan Horn
at 314-615-0931 and she will evaluate your
case and put you in touch with a volunteer
attorney. Income restrictions do apply.
They even have an office set up at the
Maryland Heights Community Center
for your convenience.
For Home Care and Repair Services,

local handymen and lawn professionals.
Transportation services are always in
great demand and volunteers are sought to
provide this service. Mileage is reimbursed and the satisfaction derived from
helping those in need is priceless.
