A Month of Celebration!
This August marks the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one.
As we triumphantly pass the fasting month, families and friends will
gather once again to rekindle old friendships as well as to build new ones.
This month will also mark 69 years of our nation’s Independence and the
election of our new president for the times ahead. With such excitement
ahead of us, August will truly be a month worthy of celebration. And we at
Pacific Place would like to take this opportunity to celebrate these exciting
times together with you.
Our Pacific Place Teddy Bear will be making an appearance again but this
time, in patriotic Independence Day fashion. Be sure to keep an eye out for
the chance to take home our special edition Independence Day Teddy
Bear in our August Weekend Lucky Dip.
Over the past year, it has been a stiff race to make it to the top 300 spenders
list at Pacific Place. We have accumulated the transactions for our top 300
spenders up until July 31, 2014. On August 28, 2014, we will be holding our
Lamborghini Drawing Party to select the lucky winner of our year long
Lamborghini Giveaway campaign.
For information on upcoming events and promotions, follow @pacificplace

PUBLIC DISPLAY
OF PRIVACY
In celebration of Ramadhan, Pacific Place teamed up with art group
Tromarama to create an art installation that reflects the spiritual
aspects of the holy month. Dubbed the ‘Private Riots’, the installation
is crafted in conjunction with Bazaar Art Jakarta; the annual art
exhibition that Pacific Place has supported for the 6th year in a row.
The one-of-a-kind installation is on display at Pacific Place atrium
from 11 July to 17 August 2014.
Febie Babyrose, Herbert Hans and Ruddy Hatumena---the 3 artists
behind Tromarama---cited, the spiritual struggle inside every man
was the main inspiration for the work. The installation was made of
no less than 385 protest boards of different colors and visuals. These
protest boards represent the said struggle, between man’s ego and
his conscience, between his desire for progress and the limits placed
by the balance between man’s relationship with nature and other
beings.
Divided into 3 parts, the installation stands at total height of 33
meters with 6.5 meter of diameter. Visitors can engage with the
artwork by writing down on the board their ways to make their lives
better. Write yours and share some wisdom with everyone!

THE
FACES
OF ART
Agus Suwage
Eko Nugroho
The increasing appreciation for Indonesian art cannot
be detached from the people who have worked
passionately to promote it. Playing supporting role
to the artists’ creativity are curators, gallery owners,
the press, and art collectors. The shared passion
among these people has enabled Indonesian art to
move forward, gaining recognition nationwide and
internationally.
In conjunction with Bazaar Art Jakarta and in
partnership with Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia, Pacific
Place commissioned photographer Nicoline Patricia
Malina to shoot individuals from the Indonesia art
community. Their photographs are featured in an
exhibition called Rupa Rupa: The Faces of Art. Each
photograph was taken with a concept suited to each
individual’s personality and role in the art scene.
Amalia Wirjono
The personalities include artists like Eko Nugroho, Agus
Suwage, Arin Soenaryo and I Nyoman Masriadi. Other
names include curator Enin Supriyanto, socialite Amalia
Wirjono and many others. The exhibition is open for
public from 11 July to 17 August 2014 on Ground Floor
of Pacific Place.

A TIME OF
REFLECTION
The month of July has
been a long period of
religious observance,
self-reflection and
self-restraint. And as the
fasting month draws to
a close, we celebrate the
triumph over temptation
and feast together in
Eid al-Fitr. Families and
friends gather to rekindle
old friendships and build
new ones.
Pieces of Persian - Persian Dance
Pacific Place celebrated this special
holy month at the main atrium with
middle eastern music and dance
over the weekends. On Fridays,
Saturdays and Sundays we filled
the corridors with music from
the middle east with Ramadhan
Rhapsody.
Ramadhan Rhapsody - Ramadhan Music
In Pieces of Persian, we brought you dance performances with middle eastern influence on Fridays
and Sundays. With these events going on, we hope to provide an atmosphere that is conducive for our
Muslim brothers and sisters to meditate and reflect on their spirituality.

A PART
OF ART
The access to art is no longer limited to the
privileged few. What makes art worthy of collection
is also no longer defined by price tag and the space
where it is exhibited. Art can be exhibited and
enjoyed at retail space, the territory of consumer
culture, making it more accessible to the general
public.
The Goods Dept. is the next retail company to
embrace art in their space. In collaboration with
ArtDept_ID, the store officially introduced The Art
Department at an opening party on 19 June 2014.
Taking the store’s entrance as its space, The Art
Department showcases paintings, photographs,
sculptures and other works by established and new
artists.
Displayed in a true gallery setup, these affordable
artworks invite visitors to enjoy and collect them
without hesitation, much like they can readily
enjoy The Goods Dept.’s popular fashion collection.
Developed by art enthusiast Amalia Wirjono and
exhibition designer Abraham Dewanggana, The
Art Department carries a mission to promote art
collecting at an early stage to a wider audience.
Judging by the positive reactions to this concept,
we say, ‘mission accomplished’.

A
UNANIMOUS
VOTE
On 8 & 9 July 2014, Pacific Place once again held its
signature shopping event, the Branded Sale. Over
30 international fashion, accessories, and cosmetic
brands packed The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place
ballroom during the 2-day event. In time for the Lebaran
celebration, fantastic discounts were offered up to 80%
off, with additional discount given on Election Day.
In addition to exclusive brands at fantastic prices,
customers were treated with a chance to participate in
special Branded Sale Lucky Dip. A stylish Samsung Galaxy
S5, a cool Leica D-Lux 6 digital camera, and shopping
vouchers worth millions, were all given away to lucky
shoppers and winners! More privileges were enjoyed by
customers who shopped with BRI credit and debit card,
including additional discount, installment facility, and
triples chances at Branded Sale Lucky Dip.
People’s vote for the presidential candidates might have
been divided, but their vote for Pacific Place Branded
Sale was united: 100% satisfied!

French Brand,
Brazilian Energy
Was it any coincidence that Brazil, the country where World Cup 2014 took place, was also the country that inspired
the Spring/Summer 2014 collection of Sandro? To be clear, the French brand’s latest collection did not seek
reference to the manly sport or any of the soccer symbolisms. Rather, it looked to the chic women of Rio de Janeiro.
Playing with contrasts, differing length, and skillfully-cut dresses, Sandro enabled women to wear a style that is
both chic and relaxed. The use of fishnets, laces, and transparent fabrics allows for some revelation of skin and
curves but do not overexpose them. You can totally imagine the clothes, which were also inspired by the work of
Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, being worn by Brazilian beauty/supermodel like Gisele Bündchen.
The collection, which is exclusively available in Indonesia at Galeries Lafayette, was officially launched on 19
June 2014. Much like Sandro’s energetic spirit, most of the guests were active women, including racer Alexandra
Asmasoebrata, fashion editor Ni Luh Sekar, and socialite Renny Sutiyoso. After 410 outlets in 20 countries, looks like
Jakarta is the next city to fall in love with Sandro.
