A Teddy Tale Christmas
T’was a silent night. Yes, a holy night... and Teddy bear, Mama Bear, and
Papa Bear are preparing fora magical Christmas of sharing and caring in the
Rocky Roar Mountain. This December, come watch as Teddy’s family come
to life in our full Animatronics show in the main atrium.

Splash and Flash
Buongiorno Italia, the month-long festival of
all things Italian that Pacific Place held with
the Embassy of Italy, came to a big finish with
a closing party by Azimut Yachts Indonesia
on 31 October 2014. Held at the South Lobby
of Pacific Place, the party invited an exclusive
group of Azimut Yachts owners and partners.
The ambassador of Italy to Indonesia, H.E.
Federico Failla, once again hosted and
opened this celebration of Italian lifestyle.
It would not be an Azimut party without one
of its luxurious yachts on display. Precisely
since a week before the party, an Azimut 40S
yacht had been docked in front of the lobby.
That was the first time ever a yacht was
docked at a shopping center, nowhere near
the water! The sight of such magnificence
certainly came as a spectacular and aweinspiring surprise to visitors of the mall.

At the party, the yacht was not the only star on the spotlight. A lineup of the latest series of Vespa scooters,
a pair of stylishly cute Fiat 500 and 500C, a white Alfa Romeo Giulietta, and a Lamborghini Aventador in
deep blue, took turns to wow the guests in an Automotive Catwalk. And just like a glamorous ball gown that
would close a Milanese fashion show, the Azimut 40S had everyone’s attention at the parade’s flashy finale.

Theatre
of Time
Hermès, the French house of luxury fashion and
accessories, has recently commissioned Dutch
designer Kiki Van Eijk to create a special displaywindow for its lines of watches. The exhibition,
called Coup de Théâtre, has traveled around the
world and made a stop at Pacific Place Jakarta from
21 – 27 October 2014. Drawing inspirations from
the emotions of childhood and from the world of
toys, Van Eijk created little scenes made of twodimensional decors and miniature objects to serve
as theatre for each distinct character of Hermès
watches.
Featured in the exhibition, on the Ground Floor in
front of Hermès’s flagship store in Indonesia, were
the Arceau, Cape Cod, Clipper, Dressage, Heure
H, and the precious collection. Each model had a
stage of its own, such as nautical theme for Clipper,
Equestrian theme for Dressage, and a glamorous
Parisian scene, complete with a miniature of the
luxurious Kelly Bag for the diamond-encrusted
precious collection. Every scene referred to a part in
the rich history and tradition of Hermès.
The decors, which consisted of no less than 2,000
elements, employed high techniques (laser cutouts, 3D printing) and craftsmanship of the highest
order (modeling, casting, and working with wood,
resin, and metal). The result was a visually rich
exhibition that not only complemented the watches
but also represented the skillful craftsmanship
required to create them. The moment spectators
viewed the exhibit, they were enchanted.

Forget Halloween trick-or-treats and ghoul costumes, because October is the month of lingerie
at Galeries Lafayette! From early October until 2 November 2014, Galeries Lafayette invited
women to embrace their curves in the French department store’s collection of dangerously
sexy lingerie and undergarments. With private fittings, dressing tips, and offers from brands like
Chantelle, Scandale, and Pip Studio, each female customer got to enjoy a special treatment that
complemented her individual body type.
The program culminated on 30 October 2014 with an evening of lingerie show - aptly titled
Femme Fatale - which is French for ‘attractive and seductive woman’. And what an attractive
and seductive collection it was from Implicite, Marjolaine, Simone Pérèle, and Stella McCartney!
Celebrity guests such as, singer Eva Celia, presenter Nadia Mulya, and actress Tara Basro were
seen and keen on taking lessons in the art of seduction.
But the sexy show went deeper than the skin, because it was also held to raise awareness about
breast cancer and gain support for women with the condition. Galeries Lafayette co-organized
the event with LOVEPINK, a community founded by two Indonesian women, Shanti Persada and
Madelina Mutia, in 2010. Both women themselves are breast cancer survivors, who now dedicate
their lives to educating other women the importance of early detection and helping those who
have them to survive.

In celebration of the brand’s
130th anniversary, Bulgari
introduced its newest line of
watches, the LVCEA. As the
name suggests in Latin, the
watches were inspired by light.
The rounded and gleaming
case resembles a halo of light,
while the dial recounts the
legendary sundials of ancient
Roman civilization.

LVCEA is presented in four choices of material: stainless steel,
yellow gold, pink gold, and a combination of steel and gold.
The crown of all variants is set with a pink cabochon-cut
stone and diamond. The most opulent variant is decorated
with brilliant-cut diamonds on the bracelet, the case, and
indexes on the dial.
The ladies-only watches were first introduced to Jakarta at
Pacific Place on 13 November 2014. The city’s most loyal
customers of Bulgari were invited to a launch event hosted
by five fellow customers of the brand: Astrid Suryatenggara,
Dian Sastrowardoyo, Dina Lestari, Marissa Nasution, and
Stefanie Soewono. Just like LVCEA watches themselves, the
event and the company gave all guests a truly enlightening
time.

Future Leaders
Politics and the governance of a nation are
no child’s play; the need to give the young
generation an early education about them
is no kidding either. KidZania, a pioneer in
fusing children edutainment with role-play,
have seen that need early on and established
the KidZania Congrezz. On 29 October 2014,
14 new members of the Congrezz were
inaugurated for the 2014 – 2016 period,
themed “Imagining a Hopeful Future.”
The members consist of diligent and talented
children - aged between 10 to 16 years old selected from over 100 schools in Jabodetabek
area. They were picked by a panel of judges
that included such inspirational figures as Ms.
Alexandra Asmasoebrata, Indonesian female
racer; Mr. Luhur Budijarso from Indonesian
Association of Child-Friendly Companies; and
Mr. M. Kerry Riza, the President of KidZania
Jakarta. As members, the children will take on
legislative roles in KidZania Jakarta, much like
a real legislative body of a real nation.
What do the Congrezz members get besides
the priceless experience to be responsible for
legislation? They get to enjoy 2 years of free
pass in KidZania Jakarta, a visit to Gen FM and
Jak FM studios, a tour in Pocari Sweat factory,
and an audience with Mr. Basuki Tjahaja
Purnama, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, and
with Mr. Yusril Ihza Mahendra. With all those

Miss
Palembang
in New York
Following her shows around the world and
her latest trip to the USA, Dian Pelangi is
an internationally known Moslem wear
designer. The designer recently participated in
Washington’s DC Fashion Week and in New York.
Sharing this accomplishment with supporters
and customers at home, Dian brought her latest
collection to Jakarta for a premiere at Galeries
Lafayette on 17 October 2014.
The collection was called “Miss Palembang in
New York” and rightfully so because Palembang’s
traditional cloth, the songket, dominated the
12 looks in the presentation. Dian mixed the
exquisite fabric with velvet, Palembang’s gold
yarn, and crystal beads. The songket and the
velvet came in bold colors, such as maroon, dark
green, deep purple, and gold, all of which were
transformed into loose-fitting dresses, short
skirts with a long train worn over pants, and
bolero jackets. The result: an entirely luxurious
collection that radiates royalty.
Splendid, but where is “New York” in all of that?
The Big Apple often is the epitome of fast-paced
city that never leaves glamour behind, Dian’s
collection shows how effortless it would be to
find something in the collection for both casual
and formal, yet the color palettes and details
infuse the glamour to it.
