In addition, panellists will examine the state of the global economy and
Russia’s role in shaping the post-crisis world.
The Global Russia Business Meeting is one of the foremost annual gatherings
of Russian business leaders and their global counterparts. The event is open

Business Meeting
Valencia, a very strong and consolidated metropolis, offers huge oppor tunities and competitive advantages. Economic dynamism is nothing new for
Valencia: already in the 15th century our city ranked as a main hub for trade
that was to last right up to the present day, as is evidenced by its position in the
Top 10 cities with greatest potential in Southern Europe. In addition, it is
the third largest city of Spain, our region being a major contributor to the
National GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
Investing in Valencia means investing in a market that is the bridge to access
more than 1.200 million consumers: Valencia holds a privileged position in
the Mediterranean Corridor, one of the main axis of the Trans-European
Transport and Communications Network. It is also linked to Madrid through
the high-speed train (AVE) in an hour and a half.
In the maritime and airport traffic, Valencia is the leading Mediterranean
port in container traffic, and has undergone a 40% growth since 2008 in the
total number of passengers and a 58% in cruise passengers.
The Valencian industrial fabric is one of the major drivers of Spanish
economic growth. Its activities include retail distribution, chemical production, the agro-food sector, automotive industry, transport, building, etc.
Its commitment to the future is based on the maximum support Valencia
gives to emergent strategic sectors such as biotechnology and health care,
ITC, videogames, renewable energies, tourism and the idiosyncratic clusters
that materialize in the creative industry, the highest expression of which is music
and the artistic creation of the Fallas. This commitment to the future is condensed into the extensive academic programme offered by 8 universities, two
of which are among the best 400 in the world.
The city of Valencia, beyond the strictly economic indicators, which play a
prominent role for the corporate investment, stands out for its social openness
and a stable political environment, which is embodied in the friendly relationships between different local, sub-regional, regional and national levels of
government, facilitating the development of all kinds of economic activities in
its territory.
Finally, Valencia is a privileged place both in environmental and cultural terms. The largest wetland in the Spanish Mediterranean is here, as well an
extraordinary fluvial park, two inland mountain ranges and one of the biggest
extensions of urban beaches in Spain, not to mention its historical and artistic
heritage that includes 67 Sites of Cultural Interest and 2 World Heritage sites.
