Refund Guidelines Due to Changes in Registration or
Withdrawal from College
Refunds Resulting from Class Changes
The final date to add or drop a class varies with the length
of time the course runs. These dates are listed on the front
cover of the schedule for full semester and half semester
(8 week) courses.
Change in registration forms are available in the Student
Success Center in Haverty Hall. If you decide to change
your class schedule, this process should be started as
soon as possible to allow adequate time to complete this
procedure.
Refund practices used at the North Dakota State College of
Science are governed by the policies of the North Dakota
University System (NDUS) as determined by the North
Dakota State Board of Higher Education.

Students who drop a class or classes prior to completion
of 9% of the term period enrollment for the class shall
receive a 100% refund of tuition and fees for the credit
hours attributable to the class or classes dropped. There
shall be no refund for partial drops after completion of 9%
of the period of enrollment. Students who totally withdraw
from all classes during the term or period of enrollment shall
receive a prorated refund. Any refunds provided as a result
of dropped classes may be returned to Title IV aid accounts
and repayment calculations may be required.
Withdrawal from College Procedures and
Refund Guidelines.
For academic purposes, official academic withdrawal from
college involves filing a “Withdrawal Notice” at the Student
Success Center and obtaining the necessary signatures
for this form. Various departments also require other
specific procedures, such as those relating to checking
out of the respective dorms, returning library materials and
athletic equipment, closing out the respective mailboxes,
etc. Among other things, these procedures are meant to
properly inform everyone involved of what is taking place.
Students who do not follow these procedures may receive
all F’s and put themselves in a very negative position for
any future federal aid. Also, they may not receive the refund
that they expected and may end up owing the College for
services that they did not expect.
Actual examples of refund calculations, when federal aid is
involved, are available at the Financial Aid Office. As far as
the written procedures, the North Dakota University System
Board Office has basically mandated the actual detail of
the written procedures and mandated that their procedures
be followed. These very detailed written procedures are
available at the Financial Aid Office.
Students have 24/7 access to their account through
CampusConnection. Here, students can pay their bill and
keep track of their account status. NDSCS will notify students
via their NDSCS student email account when statements are
available for viewing and/or printing on CampusConnection.
NDSCS accepts payments in person at the Wahpeton
campus, by phone or through the CampusConnection
payment link at www.NDSCS.edu/CampusConnection
under the Student Center > Pay Online Now. When
paying by credit card, NDSCS does not charge a fee. Visa,
MasterCard and Discover are accepted.
For additional information regarding refund
dates, please go to www.NDSCS.edu/Refund

Online Course Information
Cost
Online tuition and fees for 2016-17 are $190.00 per credit
excluding books, software and supplies. Some courses
have additional course and/or program fees.
E-mail Required…Stay Connected
Email is the main method of communication for online
classes and for NDSCS. Students need to check their
email often for notices from the college and instructors.
Remember to also check your NDSCS email account.
Instructions to access NDSCS email are at
www.NDSCS.edu/IT-Setup.
Accessing Online Classes
Students log into online classes by going to
www.NDSCS.edu and clicking NDSCS Online. (Do not
bookmark this page.) Enter your CampusConnection User
ID and Password and click “Go to Class.” At the next page,
click the title of your class to begin. Log into your classes
the first day of the semester to check for assignment due
dates.
Online Class Assignment Schedules
Online classes and are NOT self-paced. Students should
log into class frequently and keep up with assignments
to avoid losing grade points. Instructors set deadlines for
assignments and exams to be submitted and students have
24/7 access to the online class content to do their work. Log
into class on the first class day so instructors know which
students are “active.”
Contact instructors if you need to be out of class for an
extended period of time for illness or emergency. Students
who do not remain active in their online classes by logging
in and submitting assignments weekly may be dropped
according to the NDSCS “Attendance Policy” at
www.NDSCS.edu/Online-Support.
Computer Expectations
Students are responsible for maintaining computer access
to online classes. Prepare for technical problems by having
access to another computer to keep up with online course
work. Missing assignment deadlines may result in lost grade
points.
Test Proctors are required for several online course
exams. Proctors cannot be a student, friend or relative but
must be someone in a location such as at a test center,
library, school or college, or possibly a job supervisor.
Instructors may have suggestions they will accept. When
required, proctor information forms and instructions can be
found in the online class. Local students may use the
8
NDSCS 2016 Fall Course Catalog
NDSCS-Wahpeton Test Center in Old Main (701-671-2256).
Fargo area students may use NDSCS-Fargo for test services
(701-231-6900).
Books and Software Requirements
Books are required for online classes and can be
purchased from the NDSCS Bookstore. Some classes
require access codes which come bundled with the
NDSCS book. If you get access codes from another source,
you may not have the correct code configured for NDSCS
classes and may need to purchase another code.
Microsoft Word is required for all classes. Students can
download the Microsoft Office software FREE through
their NDSCS email account. Find instructions at
www.NDSCS.edu/Online-Support.
Additional software may be required for some classes and
will be indicated in the online class schedules at
www.NDSCS.edu/Catalog.
Dropping and Adding Classes
Follow the NDSCS Academic Calendar and Refund
Schedules for final days to add and drop classes. Work with
your program advisor when making schedule changes as it
may affect your program completion date.
Refund Policy and Withdrawal Refund Schedules
www.NDSCS.edu/Refund
During the first 8.99% of the semester, students may log
into CampusConnection and add classes or drop classes
for 100% refund. After the first 8.99% instructional days of
a semester, there is no refund for a class which is dropped
from a student’s schedule. Classes with different start/
end dates than those in the Academic Calendar will have
different final add/drop dates and refund schedules posted
on the Refunds website. Students need to drop all classes
for the semester should contact the Student Success Center
at 701-671-3000 or [email protected].
Contact the Distance Education Office if you have any
questions. (Horton Hall Room 101, 701-671-2347 or email
[email protected])
Note... NDSCS reserves the right to cancel a course when
the minimum enrollment of 10 students is not met.
