Precast Concrete Spotlight
The Precast Concrete "Spotlight" July 2015 Explore - Design - Build Precast/Prestressed Concrete Romeoville Athletic and Event Center Romeoville, IL This exciting precast project is a Multiple Use Athletic Center located in Romeoville, IL. The complex consists of a 50,000 sf of soccer area and and a 20,000 sf basketball court area. The soccer area has 36' clear height ceilings with a 200' clear span. This was achieved by utilizing 12' wide load bearing insulated precast panels. The facility's basketball area boasts a 32' clear height. Because of the unique design, all open spaces are flexible to accommodate each particular sporting event. Also included in this complex are multipurpose rooms, storage areas, and office space. And the project also includes a hollow core mezzanine area. The precast panels are 12" thick with 5" of polyiso insulation to maximize the R value. The architectural finish consists of embedded Endicott thin brick, white cement, and an acid etch finish. Many of the precast panels included an architectural feature which required special mold work in the forming of the panels. Imagine what you can build with precast concrete construction! Versatility, Efficiency and Resiliency; all key benefits of constructing with precast concrete.
