... ‘Fiesta De Las Flores 2014’ is this coming
weekend! Can you believe it? Join us this Saturday (9), from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, and on Sunday
(10) from 9:00am to 8:00pm. There’ll be live music, dancing, great food, games for the children, and
lots of fun and friendly folk! Bring your family and
friends! It’s not to be missed!
... Our Saturday (9) entertainment line-up includes the fabulous ‘No Reason’, and ‘The Toga
Party Band’ (Wow!) The best of Brandt Beef Burgers, Carne Asada, Burritos, together with a choice
of refreshments, are all being served. And don’t
forget your dancing shoes! Lots of fun for all!
... On Sunday (10), there is superb entertainment
all day. Among the great artists are Dan Kasperik,
the ever-fabulous ‘Mariachis la voz de Mexico’, our
own Andy Weiss and ‘The Weiss Guys Jazztet’, from
the Islands ‘Ke Hulili O Kailani’, Folklorica Dancers, ‘Coro Nuevo Fuego’, and our own ‘Happy Tappers’ and much more! And with an Open Mike you
might get to perform! That’s all day Sunday (10).
... Our Grand Drawing has a first prize of $5,000, a
second prize of $2,500, a third prize of $1,000 and a
fourth prize of $500. You do not have to be present
to win! The drawing will be Sunday (10), 7:00pm.
Tickets are $2 each or a book of 30 for $50.

known as the ‘Cure of Ars’, patron of priests, who
died in 1889, and Friday (8), that of Saint Dominic,
founder of the Dominicans, who died in 1221!

further $4,197.67 was contributed ‘online’.

Presencia real por excelencia
La gracia está en todas partes. La gente de fe actúa
según esa creencia. Los cristianos estamos llamados a
buscar dentro de lo más profundo de nuestro ser para
encontrar la presencia de Dios allí. Estamos llamados
también a buscar afuera de nosotros para encontrarlo allí
también.
La realidad de la gracia ha sostenido y alimentado a la
gente por encima de todo. La Iglesia nunca se cansa de
contar la historia de los panes y los pescados. Se cuenta
seis veces en los cuatro evangelios. Nos podemos
imaginar a los dudosos Apóstoles metiendo la mano en
las canastas y encontrando pan y más pan. Anticipamos el
final. Los Apóstoles se cansaron antes de que se acabara
el pan.
En otro tiempo y lugar, Isaías también habló de una
abundancia, esta vez de agua, miel y rica leche. Dios
siempre es un dador de dones y nosotros los
beneficiarios. Nuestra respuesta es la doxología o
alabanza. En la segunda lectura Pablo proporciona las
palabras y la actitud. La alabanza está en todas partes.
Una vez que los dones han
sido consagrados por la acción
del Espíritu Santo y que el
sacerdote ha concluido la
narración recordando las
acciones y palabras de Cristo,
el pan y el vino han dejado de
ser pan y vino y se han
convertido en el Cuerpo y
Sangre de Cristo. ¿Qué pasó?
No fue una transformación,
porque no hubo cambio de
forma; no fue una
transfiguración, porque no hubo cambio de figura; fue
una transubstanciación porque hubo un cambio de
sustancia, manteniendo así la misma forma y la misma
figura. Esta presencia de Cristo, total y real, bajo las
acciones de pan y de vino es la presencia real por
excelencia y constituye la enseñanza principal de la
Iglesia en torno a la presencia de Cristo. Así nos lo
recuerda el Concilio de Trento: Por
la consagración del pan y del vino se realiza la
conversión de toda la sustancia del pan en la sustancia del
Cuerpo de Cristo, Señor nuestro, y de toda la sustancia
del vino en la sustancia de su sangre”. Se le llama
presencia real, “no por exclusión. . . sino por
antonomasia. . . porque por ella ciertamente se hace
presente Cristo, Dios y hombre, entero e íntegro”.
LA DOXOLOGIA
Agosto 9 - 10
El término “doxología" se usa para indicar la
propiedad de dar gloria a Dios. En cuanto a la
liturgia, indica la oración de alabanza dirigida a
Dios. En la misa, la Gran doxología es el himno del
Gloria, un himno con el que la Iglesia Católica
ensalza a la Santísima Trinidad. También hay
doxologías menores, como aquella con la que la
oración eucarística se cierra: «Por Cristo, con él y
en él...», con la que se expresa solemnemente la
glorificación de Dios. En la misa está también la
doxología «Líbranos, Señor... », que sigue al
Padrenuestro.
