Words of Wisdom:
So divinely is the world organized that
every one of us, in our place and time,
is in balance with everything else.
- Goethe
Here we are at the end of another
summer season. How time flies. We
have been very busy this summer and
enjoyed welcoming many visitors to
our Mission and our City. Now the
vacations are over and it’s back to
school. It is a quiet time for us. We
are going to be taking inventory,
enjoying this respite while getting
ready for our next busy season.
It is our hope that you enjoyed a fun
and fabulous summer vacation and
are back home safe from your travels.
It is also our pleasure to welcome the
new students to our community and
hope they will thrive in this beautiful
place we call home.
As you may know for some years
we have been making Rosaries,
pocket rosaries, and rosary bracelets.
It has turned into a regular cottage
industry. The unique opportunity of
watching others make things by hand
has not lost its’ charm and over the
years continues to be a big draw. We
can hardly keep up sometimes with
the demand as we have also added
auto rosaries and necklaces to our
Mission line.
Whether you are searching for a
special gift, a handmade Rosary, or just looking - you will find our staff
to be helpful and courteous. Come in
and browse – sit a while and read or
listen to the music.
We are here to serve you 7 days a week
from 9-5 pm. You may also visit us
online @ www.missionsanluisobispo.org
and click on the Gift Shop for a secure
shopping experience.

More on Laudato Si! If you have
missed the informational events on
Pope Francis’ encyclical at the Mission, or
want to know more, St. Benedict’s Episcopal
Church in Los Osos is offering a series on
Thursday mornings at 10:00 which continues
until Sept. 24th. They describe the sessions as
an opportunity to go beneath the media hype
in order to consider what the Pope is saying
and how it relates to our understanding of the
challenges facing humanity today. Leaders
are Rev. Caroline Hall, Bob Pelfrey, and Carol
McPhee. St. Benedict’s is on LOVR, across
from the cemetery. For more information,
call 528-0654 or go to www.stbenslososos.org.

- From the Opening Prayer for the Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
To the people of Old Mission Parish
Thank you for opening your hearts to Sr.

weekend of August 29 & 30. Your gracious
hospitality and spirit of fellowship uplifted
Sr. Betty’s enthusiasm to share about our
Salvatorian international missions. The Sisters
of the Divine Savior hold Old Mission Church
parish families in prayer as we carry on our
mission, that all may know the Savior.

Readings For This Week
EFLECTION OF THE WEEK
September 6, 2015
23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time
Many people did not want to
hear the words of Jesus, but the
deaf-mute, perhaps a symbol of
the Gentiles, wanted to hear and
speak. He was brought by friends
who also had faith in Jesus’ healing
power. Jesus touched the man’s
ears and anointed his tongue with
spittle. Looking toward heaven,
Jesus commanded that the man’s
ears be open. At the same time,
the man’s tongue was free and
he began to talk. Mark’s gospel
frequently has Jesus telling those
cured not to say anything about
what has happened, but many of
the people, including those who
witnessed this miracle, could not
keep the news to themselves.
