She began her career in playback singing, and has gone on to appear in critically acclaimed films such as Pachaikili Muthucharam and Aayirathil Oruvan, winning praise for her effective portrayals. Aravind Balagi Prasad is the co-founder of Teach for India. It is basically a nationwide movement of outstanding college graduates and young professionals who teach full time in low income schools for two years. The Fellowship enables them to become lifelong leaders advocating for the cause of educational equity. From the age of 10, Andrea was part of a Jackson Five-style troupe called Young Stars which formed the base of her early singing career. She was also a theatre artist in her college and appeared in several stage plays organised by Madras Players and EVAM. Andrea also launched a company named The Show Must Go On (TSMGO Productions) to promote artistes and live art. In June 2009, Teach for India placed its first cohort of Fellows in low-income municipal and private schools in Pune and Mumbai. She later ventured into playback singing in feature films. After rendering a song in Gautham Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, she got an offer by the director to essay a lead female character in his next venture Pachaikili Muthucharam which she took up. Pachaikili Muthucharam was a film adaptation of James Siegel's novel Derailed, with Andrea portraying Kalyani, a homemaker. She subsequently received more offers to star in films, but the only project she eventually signed was Selvaraghavan's fantasy-adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan, which released in early 2010. The following year, she agreed to play a minor supporting role in Venkat Prabhu's multi-starrer Mankatha, which was released in August 2011. Andrea will next be seen in a pivotal role alongside Kamal Haasan in Vishwaroopam. Dhruv has a strong background in the social and financial space. He started his career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and shifted to the social sector after the devastating Asian tsunami of 2004. While living with the fishermen community for four months he found his true calling and decided to work in the social sector. He has helped a lot of social organizations scale their impact through these programs, and strategic planning. After working for two years in this sector he went on to pursue his MBA on a full scholarship from the University of Oxford. After completing MBA from Oxford, Dhruv founded Mirakle Couriers in Mumbai which is for profit courier service that employs low income deaf youth. The deliveries are done by deaf men, and the back office is run by deaf women. For his innovative work with the deaf at Mirakle Couriers, Dhruv has been awarded the Helen Keller Award, CNN IBN Indian of the Year, the prestigious echoing green fellowship based in New York, the national award from the President of India, and more recently the Highest Civilian award from the Jammu and Kashmir government. He then went on to reside in Gandhi Ashram, Tiruchengode for a period of six months. The following year, in 2001, he joined the Indian National Congress. Later next year, he was appointed Chairman of the Science and Technology Department. In 2003, he became a member of the National Council of the Indian Youth Congress, and in the year 2005, he went on to become the first Vice President of the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, constituted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. He has even authored a biography on Shri C. Rajagopalachari (fondly referred to as Rajaji, and who happens to be C R Kesavan's great grandfather), India's first Governor-General and also Chief Minister of Madras State. Kesavan was an editorial member for the publication on India Youth Development Index-2010- -published by the RGNIYD (a scientific tool for policy making and programme planning towards the economic and social development of the country). He is also a member of the Mentor Group constituted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India to transform the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development at Sriperumbudur, into an institute of national importance by an Act of Parliament, in the year 2012. Until recently, he also served as the Chairman of the selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Nicknamed Cheeka, he was a right handed batsman who batted aggressively and a right arm medium off spinner. He made his Test debut on 27th November 1981 against England and ODI debut on 25th November 1981 against England. His last Test match was on 1st February 1992 against Australia and his last ODI was on 15th March 1992 against South Africa. He has played 43 Test matches and scored 2062 runs with an average of 29.88 with a top score of 123. He has played 146 ODIs and scored 4091 runs with a batting average of 29.01 and top score of 123. One of his strengths which stood out in his cricket were good hand-eye coordination and super quick reflexes. He was a stylish opening batsman and became an integral part of the Indian Squad that won the 1983 Prudential World Cup and the Benson and Hedges World Championship of Cricket in 1985. He became the captain of the Indian team in 1989 where he was the first Indian player to get 5 wickets with a score of 50 runs in an ODI. He achieved this in the match against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam in 1988. After his retirement, he became the coach of the India A team. Srikkanth also works as a commentator on various sports channels. He was appointed as the Chief Selector of the Indian Cricket team on 27th September 2008, and was made the brand ambassador for the Chennai Super Kings franchise of IPL. His son Anirudha Srikkanth is also a cricketer and currently plays for the Tamil Nadu Ranji Team. He did both his Pre-university and under graduation at Bangalore's National College, and later went on to do his MA as well as M.Phil in English literature from the University of Bangalore following which he took up a career in teaching English at the Law College, Bangalore for three years. Soon after, tired of the humdrum routine, he eventually decided to change course giving in to his inner desire of wanting to do something for the benefit of the visually challenged. Hence, teaming up with two of his friends - who shared the same dream and passion - Samarthanam came into being and which was born out of compassion and empathy; two ideals that have been its greatest strengths since its inception. And, he had the distinction of representing India at the World Blind Cricket Councils' Conference held at Cape Town, South Africa, and was also instrumental in organizing several cricket tournaments and other sporting events for the disabled. Having presented many papers at various national and international conferences, he has been a role model for persons with disabilities in general. He runs a hostel and education-help centre for about 150 visually and physically challenged individuals, has launched a computer training centre for the visually challenged where about 200 have benefited. Founder of the Integrated Education of the Disabled (IED), it is a grassroots project wherein Mahantesh and his team identify and reintegrate the 353 differentlyabled children with the mainstream. And among his other projects include an integrated school for the locals at a suburb of Bangalore where 60 children are currently being educated, and adoption of a government school for nutritional supplement and education where 753 students in all have benefited. He was bestowed with the “Governors Excellence Award” in the year 2002, the National award for Child welfare in 2009, the Aryabhata International award for services in the field of disability again in the same year, the Karamveer Pursaskar for contributions to Civil Society in 2011, and the NDTV Spirit of Sports award for Lifetime Achievement for contribution in the field of sports against all odds. He is presently CEO & Managing Director of WS Industries (India) Limited, a leading manufacturer of Porcelain Insulators for Electrical High Voltage Transmission and Distribution Applications. He holds positions of eminence in various industrial bodies such as CII, where he is very active. His current positions include, Vice Chairman, CII Tamilnadu State Council, member of the National Council on Public Policy and also member of the National Council on Membership. Also, Narayan was one of the founding members of CII's Young Indians. He was the National Vice Chairman between 2004–06 and subsequently the National Chairman during 2006 – 07 where he continues to be active on the Core Committee of the organisation. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), and plays an active role in the development of a new vision for the institute, and is leading the implementation of the same. He was the advisory board member for the University of Madras, 2004-2010 and was the executive committee member of the Good Shepherd School from 19982004. A member of the selection committee of Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority for athletics, he became the honorary treasurer of the Chennai District Athletic Association. And, he was the senate member of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli from 2010-2013. Natarajan was the national champion and national record holder in the 100 and 200 mts race for 9 consecutive years (1988-1996); South Asia's fastest man title holder between 1989-1991, South Asian games record holder and Champion in 100 as well as 200 mts, 4x100 mts relay (1989,1991,1995); silver medal in 200 mts at the World Indoor invitation athletic meet at Tehran, Iran,1990; qualified and ran with the world legendary sprinter Carl Lewis in the world permit meet,1990; the second Indian to run the 200 mts in less than 21 seconds i.e. 20.9 seconds and qualified to represent India in the 200 mts dash at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, USA. He was awarded the President of India Gold medal in the year 1991 by the President Late Shri R Venkatraman, and also honoured by the Vice President of India, Shri Hamid Ansari, for his meritorious services in sports and athletics, in November 2008. He represents a the Kakinada constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Indian National Congress. He is the Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence. He was first elected to the Indian Parliament in 1989 and was the youngest MP in the 9th Lok Sabha. A successful entrepreneur in the field of Information Technology, he was on the boards of successful Public Limited Companies until his induction into the Union Council of Ministers. He has been a very active member of the Indian National Congress (INC) and has held several important positions in the state unit and at the National level, the most recent one as the Chairman of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination (DEPPCO) in the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
