Spring is almost here and with it comes better riding temperatures. Although we need
the rain, let’s hope it rains only during the week and leaves the weekends sunny and
dry! I know Dan has been trying to come up with some great events for the next couple of months so let’s all support him and have some fun.
Teri and I have been busy with life outside of GWRRA. The grandkids are moving
much closer to us and we’re real excited about it. But that also means that, in order to
help with the move, some of our weekends will be spent away from our GWRRA
Family. We’re still trying to resolve the issues with our Goldwing too. Right now the
problem centers around the clutch so we’ve not gone on most of the rides. According
to those in the know, we should have some answers this month. Keep your fingers
crossed!
While we’re waiting for life to settle down, we’ll still be going to the socials and team
meetings. The next general gathering will be at Brook’s Ranch on March 5th. The social will be at BJ’s Brewhouse on Shaw on March 10th and the Team Meeting will be
at Brook’s Ranch on March 15th. We will be talking about the trips Dan has planned
for us in the upcoming months on the 5th and 15th so try to make it to at least one of
those so you don’t miss out.
Keep the rubber down and a smile on your face!
Editor’s Note:
Rumor’s of a new Goldwing for 2017 are circulating.
I’ve heard discussions of a new front suspension, a four
cylinder engine, a electric hybrid. The Neowing is showing the new four cylinder engine. It’s been a while since
they did a major change. And Honda cars were innovative with the Hybrids. Maybe the Neowing is showing
off some of the features destined for the new Goldwing.
I hear it’s got clear coat too.

Wolf Pack,
Well spring is finally here and it looks like we are getting a break from the rain. I can’t wait to see
what Dan has in store for us for rides. Right now the hills are green and the trees are all in bloom.
Of course Dan is always open to Ideas for rides so drop him a line and throw ideas at him. I am
looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting, so come out and join us.
On the lighter side:
Two guys were roaring down the road on a motorcycle when the driver slowed up and pulled over.
His leather jacket had a broken zipper, and he told his friend, "I can't drive anymore with the air hitting me in the chest like that." "Just put the jacket on backwards." His friend advised. They continued down the road but around the next bend, they lost control and wiped out. A nearby farmer came
upon the accident and ran to call the police. They asked him, "Are they showing any signs of life?"
"Well," the farmer explained, "the driver was until I turned his head around the right way!"
Moral of the story: Ride a goldwing and you can ride with a broken zipper!
EDITOR’S NEWS FRONT: Honda NEOWING: Showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Auto
Show and showing this year at Auto Expo 2016.
NEOWING is an unprecedented three-wheeled vehicle that offers the cornering feel
and sporty ride equivalent to a large-sized motorcycle while realizing excellent stability in low-speed ranges. This vehicle is equipped with a hybrid system that combines
a horizontally-opposed 4cylinder engine and electric
motors to generate plentiful
torque for powerful acceleration. With the adoption of an
original Honda linkage mechanism on its front wheel, this
concept model proposes new
values with advanced styling
that emphasizes the mechanical fascination of a twowheeled motorcycle model.

It’s hard to believe that February is over. It has been a whirlwind for us and loving every minute of it…well
almost. We have visited 6 chapters and best of all went to the first rally of the year…CA-1I’s Valentine Run.
For those of you that couldn’t attend, you missed a lot of FUN, a great ride, and lots of wonderful prizes. The
new Chapter of the Year was announced…CA-1F…great job, with CA-2S as a worthy participant.
Hope many of the chapters will participate this year so we can
show everyone how great California is. We have the best chapters in the country, but then I am a little biased. For those of
you that did attend, Thank you for being a part of my surprise
for Bob…his valentine gift. Three months of planning, paying,
shipping from FL, and receiving without Bob’s knowledge was
a challenge, but I can honestly say he was totally surprised and
blown away when he received his 2012 new Eurowing Trike.
A special thank you to Joel Winkler and Bert’s Mega Mall for
assisting me with this endeavor. We learned something very
important about buying a vehicle from another state, if it has
under 7500 miles on it, it better have a CA emissions certification label on the bike. If it does not, you must tow it out of the
state, ride it until 7500 miles and then bring into CA to register
it. With only 2000 miles on our trike, we were lucky…it had
the certification. Whew!
The year is progressing quickly. We will be attending the Lead Like u Ride training in Phoenix, March 5.
Hope a number of you can take advantage of this great opportunity. Then off to Rally in the Valley with CA1R in Laughlin, NV …Great FUN and wonderful riding. Hope to see many of you there.
You can start making plans for California District Rally
Gold Wing Super Bowl…..September 23-25, 2016… in Bakersfield at the DoubleTree Hilton.
We are going to have FUN starting with a Tailgate Party the night before.
A new opportunity…a special drawing…the TRIFECTA.
To be eligible… Attend… Region F Rally in Albuquerque, Wing Ding in Billings, and CA District Rally.
Come support the district this year!
Hope you are having fun with your NFL teams and the District game. Many of you are on your way to your
first touchdown from what I hear. Go California!
What we love about all of this is you guys, our GWRRA family. No matter what we are doing or where we
are, we have FUN just being with you.
Join the FUN. Ride safe. Look forward to seeing you around California this year.

Things to Remember When Riding in Constructions Zones
Road construction season and motorcycle season always coincide throughout the year. As the weather
warms, you’ll see more construction zones when you’re out for a ride. We know you’re no stranger to the
bright orange work signs of a construction zone that tell us all to slow down and use caution. It’s an essential warning as you travel through these zones, especially for motorcycle riders.
With uneven roads, loose gravel, or even debris littering your path, it’s no surprise that motorcyclists need
a heightened level of awareness in construction zones. One slight mistake and you could be seriously injured.
Look Out for Work Zone Hazards
For bikers, any change to the road’s surface could mean serious consequences.
Since construction zones roads are constantly changing, it’s important to keep an
eye out for the following road hazards:
•
Rocks, debris, or loose gravel in the
road
•
Drop-offs and uneven pavement
•
Exposed manhole covers
•
Shifting lanes
•
Pooling water
•
Traffic stopping suddenly
•
Workers near the road
•
Areas without shoulders
•
And more
Poor road conditions, negligent drivers, and poorly marked road changes can pose serious dangers for
motorcyclists. Road awareness is extremely important when riding through work zones.

Ah, March.
The start of spring, time to come out of
hibernation and do things.
“If you never did, you should. These
things are fun, and fun is good.”(Dr
Seuss; whose birthday just happens to
be in March)
As a biker, one of the things we think
about are rides. So fellow riders, please
talk up some of the rides you would like
to go on, or rides you have been on and
might want to go again.
Do to “things”, I haven’t been out much. I went on a little ride last weekend and I was
totally invigorated. We went out to breakfast and then went up to Lake Kaweah to
see how the water level was. I forgot how great a ride can make you feel emotionally.
It changed my whole outlook for the upcoming week.
The point is…. Get up, get out and ride!
Something I bet you didn’t know. In England in the 1880’s “pants” was a dirty
word.)
If that made you smile my work is done.
Come on out to the meeting, we are trying to make
them fun and the more people, the more fun we
can have.
