In December, 2015 and January, 2016 we added 47 new members. They are: Carol Adelman, Kim Anderson, Mike
Arnold, Merrill Badini, Courtney Bair, Susan Bair, Christine Brown, Angela Burton, Elizabeth Cenucan,
Mien-Sen Chu, Pamela David, Rhonda Davis, Diane & Rick DuBeau, Thomas Fujita, Mary Geryol, Yoko
Goto, Nancy Gottlieb, Mary & Stan Gucwa, Judy & Paul Higham, Sharon Hnatiuk, Kenneth Hunter, Thomas Kaster, Kevin Kloss, Alma Koran, John Leiter, Diane Martens, Merlin Mills, Don Mitrovic, Juliana Nucua, Jan Schaufel, Karen Schroeder, Beverly Spina, Kathy Stasek, Susan Stasek, Martinita & Orlando
Sunga, Rosa Torres, Sandra Warren, Shirley & Thomas Washburn, Roy Wellman, Helen Wilson, Sharon
Zemko, and Brenda Zinck. W elcome to all of you from the Senior Staff. W e hope you find many things to
interest you in this newsletter and that you find a home away from home here at the Center.
Dear Seniors,
Many of you have noticed and commented
to me regarding how many new members
we have been reporting over the past several months. We realized that the building
is not being used as much in the late afternoons as it is in the mornings. In an effort
to serve more of you in all of our programs, we have decided to change our hours. Beginning April 1st, our new
hours are 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
Our goal is to utilize the space we have as efficiently as possible in order to serve the maximum number
of seniors. We hope that this change allows you to join
some programs that have previously been full.
Please do not arrive before 8:00 AM. Staff may
be here early to set up for programs but the doors will not
open until 8:00 AM. Please wait to arrive or stay in your
cars until you see staff open the front doors. We never
want people standing out in the cold. In addition, the
gates entering the park do not open until 8:00 AM .
Our senior staff need to complete a CPR and First
Aid Class on Thursday, March 10th. On that day, the
Senior Center will close at 3:00 PM so that can be
done.
Suzanne D. Simpson
Shredding Event: Warren Township will host a document shredding event for your personal confidential
documents on Saturday, May 21st from 9:00 AM to
12:00 PM in front of the Town Hall building.
Dear Members,
As Sue Simpson announced in her column, we have decided to change the hours that we are open to 8:00 AM to
4:00 PM beginning April 1st. Please look at the days and times of all of our Exer cise classes car efully as
many of those have changed. Some of the policies regarding missing exercise classes have also changed. Please
read those carefully. (See Page 19)
Notice to Bingo Players: We have decided to increase the number of Bingo cards you are able to purchase
each Tuesday to five. Those of you who ar e inter ested in playing mor e than four can now do so.
A reminder about our Lost & Found: It is over flowing with coats, sweater s, gloves, glasses, jewelr y, and even
shoes. If you misplaced something (even a long time ago), please stop by and take a look. We keep smaller items
such as jewelry and sunglasses in the office so, please ask to see them. Anything that is still left on March 1st, we
will put on the free table or throw out.
SUGGESTION BOX: We have a suggestion box in the hallway acr oss fr om the bathr ooms. We love to r eceive your suggestions. We would love for you to include your name on the suggestion although it is not a requirement. I often have a question when I receive a suggestion (or an answer to the suggestion) but am unable to respond
because I do not have a name. We do want to have your input and would like to be able to respond to you directly.
PARKING: Please r emember that ALL par king spots in the cir cle now need a handicapped placar d or
plates in order for you to park there. If you don’t have one, and cannot walk from the parking lot, leave your car in
front of our doors and ask one of the staff to park it for you. We are happy to get it for you when you ar e
ready to leave the Center. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please Note: Voting will take place in our multi-purpose room on Tuesday, March 15th. Bingo and Arthritis
Classes will be cancelled that day.
Discount Taxi Program: Those of you who use this pr ogr am, please note that we ar e no longer wor king with
Metro Taxi. Look for more information in the Taxi section on Page 17.
I hope you enjoy all the new programs and times we are offering with our new hours. I look forward to seeing
even more of you here at the Center.

As many of you know, there have been many cut backs by the state of Illinois as they continue to look for more
ways to save money. In 2016, to reduce state spending, license plate renewal letters and emissions testing reminders are no longer being sent out in the mail. It is important that you are aware of the expiration date for your license
plates because you will not receive a letter in the mail this year.
Instead, the Secretary of State’s Office does offer you the chance to receive Renewal Notices by e-mail. You can
sign up to receive these by going to their website (https://www.ilsos.gov/greenmail/). Once there, go to: “Register
For E-mail Notifications”. You will be asked to enter your Registration ID and PIN (located on your r egistration card that is usually kept in your car). We are here to help if you need assistance signing up for this service.
You will also be able to call the Secretary of State’s Office to request a License Plate Renewal Application to be
sent to you in the mail. You would complete the application and return it by mail.
Another way to renew your license plate would be to call and do it over the phone. If you wish to complete the application over the phone, you will be required to have your Registration ID, PIN and credit card information
on hand.
To request a mail-in application or to renew over the phone call the Secretary of State’s Office at (800) 252-8000.
If you have not passed an emissions test and your license plates expire at the end of March, 2016, the Secretary of State has announced that he will temporarily allow license plates renewals but you will be informed
that you must get your vehicle tested.
If you are part of the Benefit Access Program and receive a License Plate Discount, be sure that your Benefit Access certificate is current. If the certificate is within three months of expiration or has already expired, you may renew it online or by appointment with either Sherie Palmer or me.
Benefit Access is an income based, state run program that reduces the renewal cost for the license plates of those
who qualify. Those annual income limitations for a Household of 1 person is $27,610 and for a Household of 2
people is $36,635. If you have any questions or need assistance with this, please feel fr ee to call me at ext.
*513 or Sherie Palmer at ext. *509.

She was severely wounded, and two of her friends were injured, when
a masked gunman boarded her school bus in Pakistan's Swat Valley and pulled the trigger. The
attack on her sparked an outcry from supporters around the world and after recovering, she has
become a global advocate for the education of girls, raising money to support this cause through
the Malala Fund. 1 hour 28 mins.

April 8th: “Black Mass” Dr ama. Rated R for brutal violence, language throughout, some
sexual refences, and brief drug use. In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent J ohn Connolly (played
by Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster Jimmy Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the
FBI in order to eliminate their common enemy: the Italian mob. This unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowed Bulger to evade law enforcement while escalating his power to become the most feared crime lord in Boston and one of the most dangerous gangsters in U.S. history.
Based on the book "Black Mass" by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill. 2 hrs.
April 15th: No movie because of Driver Safety Course
April 22nd: “Steve Jobs” Dr ama. Rated R for language. Michael Fassbender plays Steve
Jobs — one of the great geniuses of the 20th century. From his early days as an entrepreneur and
a student auditing classes to the latest piece of technology he oversaw, Jobs was constantly innovating. However, he could be ruthless in his obsession with success and progress, leaving his
competition and sometimes his friends in the dust. What's more, his work took an intense toll on
his personal life. It left him little time to spend with his family and caused him to neglect his
health. Even so, the world clearly benefited from his commitment to technological excellence. 2 hrs.
April 29th: “Irrational Man” Comedy/Dr ama Rated R for some language and sexual content. J oaquin Phoenix plays Philosophy pr ofessor Abe Lucas at a small town college. He

the fullest again. However, his decision sets off a chain of events that will affect all three of them
forever. 1 hour 35 mins.
