These themes run throughout today’s scripture readings. The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles describes the joyful early days of the newly born church, when members devoted themselves to instruction, the communal life, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. The passage from Peter’s first letter echoes that joy, and assures those who now believe though they never saw Jesus that their faith will lead to their salvation. But amid all the joy, the Gospel reading calls us to sober reality. Not everyone can believe so easily. Even an apostle can doubt this astonishing news of the Resurrection. Across the centuries, Jesus reaches forward to touch us today: “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” THE CHURCH OF SAINT ANSELM MISSION STATEMENT We are a Roman Catholic family of believers committed to following Jesus by welcoming, celebrating, caring, evangelizing and growing in His image. NOTES FROM FATHER TOM……… I hope you all had a the celebration long after the jelly beans are gone. Actually it will be 50 days (until Pentecost). Every Sunday is a Little Easter. So keep celebrating the Risen Lord. During Lent we had the two crosses next to the crucifix in church. The crosses were formed from the purple papers where you indicated what penances you were doing for Lent. I told you I would count them when I took them down – 809. If we do this again next year, I’ll give you more time to get them back. We did burn them in the Easter fire. I did not read many of them, but this one got my attention, probably because of the drawing. I liked the message.
