Reconciliation Opportunities March 14, 7 p.m. St. Rita March 15, 7 p.m. St. Mary, Indianapolis March 26, 3-5 p.m. Holy Spirit Every Saturday from 4-5 p.m. Holy Spirit Dear Friends of Holy Spirit, This weekend we are asking each member of the parish to make a commitment to financially support Holy Spirit Parish. This is a challenge for all of us (including myself) and it is one of the ways we live out our faithful to Jesus Christ. Does Holy Spirit need our support? Definitely, YES! We are paying our bills, but this is dependent upon the generous support we receive each week. But it is a huge challenge to face the larger maintenance needs that are in front of us. We need a new room on the church, garage and Parish Center; we need to eventually face the fact that our Parish Center and school are not handicap accessible. With the large number of elderly in our parish, this is a serious issue. But, I don’t think that the needs of the parish are the only reason we should give. I NEED to give. I NEED to bring all areas of my life before God, not just the ones with which I am comfortable. Because so many chariAes request assistance from us, we can become skepAcal, even cynical about giving. Yet, others need us and Jesus conAnues to call us to reach out to those in need. We cannot ignore this. Please support your parish. A few weeks ago we had Ministry Day. I asked everyone to state what in their Catholic/ChrisAan faith did they find most appealing, most aEracAve, most necessary. I would like to share a few of these with you. 1. I like the blessings given to children who cannot receive Communion yet. 2. I appreciate my Catholic upbringing which stressed that I should pray throughout the day, even for a few seconds. 3. I love the GiF of Holy Communion. 4. I value how much our faith gives consolaAon to the sorrowing. How might you answer this same quesAon? Here's another way you can make a difference to the people of Texiguat, Honduras. We will be taking a number of items with us in June. We also could use Tylenol and Ibuprofen (children and adults). Please place these items in the blue Twinning bins in the east or west vestibule. We will be leaving on June 21, so please try to drop them off before June14 for packing. Due to your past generosity, we will have enough toothbrushes and paste for this trip. Thank you for making a difference! Custodian Needed - St. Thomas, Fortville, is looking for a custodian for our complex. SUBSTANCE ADDICTION MINISTRY (SAM) When dealing with a person with an addiction we hear a lot about detaching with love. Detaching may simply mean taking a moment to decide how we want to respond, rather than immediately reacting. It may mean not taking everything the alcoholic [or drug addict] says or does personally. Detaching with love means that we can hate the disease of alcoholism, yet still feel compassion for the alcoholic. We can let them know we love them, even though we don't love the actions they are taking. "Let Go and Let God" can help us as we begin to practice loving detachment. Admitting we are powerless doesn't mean we are helpless. We can still take positive action by praying for the alcoholic and ourselves, by respecting ourselves and setting limits. Detaching with love doesn't mean we stop loving the alcoholic, nor does it imply passivity on our part. On the contrary, detachment is a powerful act of love -- for us and the alcoholic.~ from the book Opening Our Hearts - Transforming Our Losses by Al-Anon Family Groups Fifth Sunday of Lent 8:00/8:15: Registration 8:30/8:45: Welcome & Opening Prayer 8:45/9:45: 1st Speaker 10:00/11:00: 2nd Speaker 11:30/12:20: Holy Mass with Archbishop Joseph W. Without your help, we could not provide this ministry to grieving families. All 17 Sections have been called once and two are on their "second" round. If you have not been called, it may be because phone numbers are incorrect or disconnected. Another problem is that phone messages are not being returned. We are always in need of more Coordinators (handles the meals) and Leaders (calls for food) as well as those who are willing to donate delicious dishes. If interested, please contact Judy at [email protected] or 317-891-8122. REMINDER: Some of you may have forgotten your dinnerware which are on the countertop in the basement kitchen. Thank you! The blood drive was very successful! There were 52 units collected. 38 people donated one unit, 7 people were able to donate 2 units each and 7 more people attempted to donate but were deferred. With each unit able to help 3 persons in need, 156 people will be given the gift of life due to your sacrifice. Thank you to everyone who donated; blood, juice, cookies, snacks and especially your time to assist with this ministry. Know that your blessing is returned to you by our dear Lord.
