Meet Wayne Pointer, Co-Director of Weatherill Events

rom a part-time job installing temporary power
and specialised lighting for various functions,
Wayne Pointer bought the marquee company he
was working for in 2006 and never looked back.
With the help and support of his family – and
a friendly bank manager! – Weatherill Events
has since earned a reputation as one of East
Anglia’s leading marquee hire and event support
specialists, with Wayne and his wife Lorraine at
the helm, together with their two sons Aaron and
Daniel. Wayne said, “We are lucky to have such a
great team of staff who all enjoy what they do and
have been with us since the beginning.”

such as weddings, large parties, anniversary
celebrations and corporate events, while the latter
offers greater flexibility for hard standing sites like
car parks or tennis courts. Wayne added,
“By far, our traditional marquees are the most
desirable with the main poles in the centre to
create an elegant look and lasting impression,
while the clearspan style has a more business
feel about it.” Made using high quality PVC,

So, what does Wayne love most about his job?
“Knowing you have played a major part in
someone’s big day and done the best you can do,
with our customers acknowledging that fact by
way of some lovely thank you letters, really makes
it all worthwhile. It’s about taking away their stress
and ensuring total peace of mind so the occasion
is a memorable one.” Recently, Weatherill Events
provided a stunning marquee for the prestigious
Houghton Revisited launch, as well as stands for
The Royal Norfolk Show. Wayne added, “You just

work we do, from black tie events to VIP parties.”

It takes a team of five or six individuals a full day
to erect a standard marquee. The interior can
then be decorated in a colour or style to suit
from a wide range of linings and accessories, from
fibre optic star cloths and pea light canopies, to
multi-coloured drapes. Whether lit from above or
at ground level via traditional chandeliers, uplights
or exterior floodlighting, a stylish effect can be
achieved, guaranteed to enhance the mood.

Our pizza kitchen can be set up just about
anywhere - from city back gardens and rooftop
terraces to village greens and school fields
We use fresh, quality ingredients and prepare all
our pizzas by hand in front of you and your guests
Most importantly our pizzas are all cooked in
a proper wood fired oven and they only take
around 90 seconds - so don’t worry you won’t
have long to wait
Our pizzas go down really well at weddings and
we can also cater for all types of event, private
or public, large or small
Extras include dance floors, discos, bar units,
luxury toilets, balustrades, candelabras and moon
balloons. Wayne said, “We tend to get booked up
rather early, especially if it’s a wedding.
Our busiest times are summer and Christmas.
We can accommodate any function across the
region, but I particularly like working along the
North Norfolk coast, which is astoundingly
beautiful. On my day off, I enjoy nothing better
than a visit to Wells-next-the-Sea and a fish ‘n’
chips supper on the quayside. Then I walk it off
with a stroll along Holkham beach with my dog.”
