GOING FORTH
U Closing Hymn #558
“We Are the Church” [v.v. 1-4]
PORT JERVIS
U Commission, Benediction and Passing of the Peace
[adapted from 1 Corinthians 12, Luke 4, by Joanne C. Brown @ MinistryMatters]
The Spirit of God is upon you.
We go forth proclaiming God's love and liberation.
The Spirit of Christ is upon you.
We go forth to live lives of justice and freedom.
The power of the Spirit is upon you.
We go forth as one body, one spirit, one witness to the promises of our God.
Postlude Video
For just as the body is one
and has many members,
and all the members
of the body,
though many, are one body,
so its with Christ.
For in one Spirit
we were all baptized
into one body—
Jews or Greeks, slaves or free
—and all were made to drink
of one Spirit.

"For just as the body is one and has many members,
and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—
and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many."

Prayer for Illumination
Today is a day of rejoicing!
Heaven is declaring God’s glory; the sky is proclaiming God’s handiwork.
It is a time to celebrate!
“One day gushes the news to the next,
and one night informs another what needs to be known…”
Jesus offers us a plan of action!
No longer are we trapped, wondering what we should be doing.
Jesus speaks to us of freedom, release from captivity, recovery of sight.
Jesus outlines the kind of disciples that are needed in God's world. AMEN.
Generous God,
You spoke Your word and revealed Your good news in Jesus, the Christ.
Fill all creation with that word again, so that by proclaiming Your joyful promises,
and singing of Your glorious hope to all peoples, we may become one living body,
Your incarnate presence on the earth. Amen.

Prayers of the People [adapted from prayer by Thom M. Shuman @ lectionaryliturgies.blogspost.com]
[Prayers of the People, concludes with LORD’s Prayer]
Loving God, more than any prize we might win, we long for the riches of Your joy;
more than all the world's empty calories, we hunger for the fullness of Your love;
more than all the fears promised to us, we embrace the peace of Your grace,
Healing Spirit, Three In One.
And as Jesus taught His disciples we now pray saying…
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.

Zoe Vandermeer
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise God, the source of all our gifts! Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!
Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Offertory Prayer [adapted from prayer by Thom M. Shuman @ lectionaryliturgies.blogspost.com]
Though many different amounts and ways, when gathered up by You, our gifts become
a food pantry, a rebuilt life, medicine for children, a caregiver to the lonely –
Your grace in action. In love we offer these gifts in the name of Jesus,
and ask that they may be multiplied for sake of Your children. Amen.
