Camp Bookworm 2016 Join us for six weeks of learning and creativity in the gardens! Members of Bookworm Gardens may register for camps beginning on Tuesday, March 1 at 10 am. Non-members may register for camps beginning on Monday, March 14th at 10 am. Family memberships are required to receive the member rate. Staff will be at the gardens to accept registrations from 10 am – 4 pm on both March 1st and 14th. Registrations may also be mailed to Bookworm Gardens. Payment must be received with registration. Each camper will receive a Camp Bookworm t-shirt during camp. Visit www.bookwormgardens. org for to download your registration form today. June 27 – July 1, 9 am – 12 pm Campers Age 4-6 (who have not completed kindergarten) Beetles and The Beatles Here comes the sun! Hop aboard the yellow submarine and join us for a celebration of music and nature inspired by the legendary rock band, The Beatles. Listen as songs come to life while we explore strawberry fields, sing like blackbirds, and create our own octopus gardens. Camp days will include featured stories, instrument making, garden exploration, art experiences, music activities, and a themed snack. Families are invited to join their campers for a parade and celebration on Friday at 11 am. Cost: $135 members; $150 non members July 6 – 8, 10 am – 12 pm Campers Age 3 Friends in the Garden (Session I*) Three magnificent mornings in the garden for our youngest campers! Campers will experience the garden’s colors and flavors, explore objects both BIG and small, and celebrate nature with activities perfect for busy bodies and brains. Families are invited to join their campers for a celebration on Friday at 11 am. Cost: $55 members; $60 non members July 11 - 15, 9 am – 12 pm Campers Age 5-7 (who have completed kindergarten) We Are What We Eat Calling all future foodies! The Bookworm Café is open for learning! Plant your own rainbow, harvest herbs and veggies, mash up some meatballs, create stellar smoothies and get excited about composting during this week long exploration of food and fun. Campers will participate in a farm to table experience like no other. Families are invited to join their campers “in the kitchen” on Friday at 11 am. Hands-on garden fun coming right up! July 18 - 20, 10 am – 12 pm Friends in the Garden (Session II*) Campers Age 3 Another three magnificent mornings in the garden for our youngest campers! Cost: $55 members; $60 non members July 25 – 29, 9 am – 12 pm Campers entering 2nd – 6th grades In collaboration with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center From Page to Stage Back by popular demand, Bookworm Gardens and the John Michael Kohler Art Center are collaborating for a weeklong experience in which campers will get to be playwrights, actors, and stage crew as they translate their favorite books into fantastic stage performances. On Monday and Tuesday campers will select favorite books and begin writing scripts at the Gardens. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s camp days will be held at the Arts Center where sets and props will be created, costumes will be made, and campers will become stars! Friday’s productions will take place on the amazing John Michael Kohler Art Center stage, where families are invited to join their campers for a performance at 11 am. Cost: $135 members; $150 non members August 1 – 5, 9 am – 12 pm Campers Age 4-6 (who have not completed kindergarten) My Many Colored Days Red berries, orange butterflies, and yellow lemons! Green herbs, blue paint, purple pansies, and brown soil swirling with worms! From black to white, and everything in between – explore a rainbow of colors in the gardens through hands-on art making, science experiments, and movement activities that will keep campers busy exploring. Families are invited to join their campers and Mix It Up on Friday at 11 am for a multi-colored exhibition.
