Coaching Philosophy Jussi Salo:
"The player development is the key to have a successful team.
The better players you have, the better results you get also as a
team. I always teach defensive and offensive parts of the game
to the players.
I'm demanding and pedant with everything I do with my team. I
keep quite strict discipline, but I'm always fair with the players.
Everyone has to earn their spot in the playing roster. I keep
personal player meetings with every player 2-3 times a year to
make sure they know what I expect from them.
What becomes to the game, I like puck controlled, but quite
straight offensive game style. However, the tactical part is in big
role in my coaching philosophy and I have updated my
knowledge to modern hockey. That mean overloads on
defensive zone and bluelines and active puck control in
offensive game. Players have to also be able to recognise
different happenings in the game and react with right decision
all the time.
Mental coaching is also one parts of good coaching process. I
have to be able to build up players confidence to play, keep the
puck and make decisions on ice."
