naisten mm 2008 joukkue
Suomalaisella naiskiekolla on lähivuosina edessään monia hienoja haasteita. Ensi vuoden MM-kisat järjestetään Suomessa kymmenen vuoden tauon jälkeen. Vuoden 1999 kotikisoissa Espoossa Suomi voitti MM-pronssia. Jääkiekkoliiton aktiivinen panostus tyttökiekon kehittämiseksi on tuottanut nopeasti tulosta. Jääkiekko on kasvattanut parin viime vuoden aikana selvästi suosiotaan tyttöjen harrastuksena. Suomi hakee menestystä Harbinin MM-kisoista viime vuodesta uudistuneella, mutta entistä nälkäisemmällä ryhmällä. Kansainvälisen tason koventumisen myötä tien raivaaminen mitalipeleihin on kovan työn takana ja MM-mitali todella kovan luokan saavutus. Suomen Jääkiekkoliiton puolesta toivotan kaikille osallistujamaille hienoja hetkiä lajimme juhlavuoden kunniaksi ja toi votamme teidät kaikki tervetulleiksi ensi vuonna Suomeen! Nähdään Hämeenlinnassa, Kalervo Kummola Puheenjohtaja Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto ry As the International Ice Hockey Association IIHF celebrates its 100-year anniversary, it’s natural to say that celebrations are on its best at the championships. Female hockey has established its position in Europe, North America and also in Asian countries. This year’s hosting country China has been for years the leading hockey country in Asia. The Finnish female hockey will face great challenges in the near future. Next year Women World Championship will be organized in Finland after a 10-year break. In 1999 in Espoo Finland won bronze medal. The expectations are high for these home championship, with the help of spectators everything is possible. Hämeenlinna will be the hosting city. It offers excellent facilities for the best female hockey players, facilities that have served for U20 World Championship in 2004 as well as for 4 Nation Tournament in 2005. 2009 IIHF Women World Championship is a great opportunity for Finnish female and girl hockey to be recognized. The active role of Finnish Ice Hockey Association in developing girls’ hockey has paid off, the sport has increased its popularity among girls in the last few years. Finland is looking for success already this year in Harbin. As the international competition gets tougher, it’s more difficult to make it to the medal games. The value of a medal is higher than ever. On behalf of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association I wish memorable moments for every participating country and wish you all welcome to Finland next year. See you in Hämeenlinna!
