Saint Paul School Newsletter: September 18, 2015
September 18, 2015 Dear Parents, Today we had our first practice fire drill as a school community. I am very proud of the students and faculty as we exited in 1 minute and 28 seconds. In the upcoming weeks we will have an "official" drill with the Hingham Fire Department present. Curriculum Nights are quickly approaching. These are very informative meetings where you will meet your child's teacher(s), learn plans for the curriculum, hear their expectations for the upcoming school year, and see the classrooms. I know the teachers and students always look forward to this opportunity to show off a little. You will have the chance to connect with other parents you haven't seen for a while and maybe sign-up to be a PTO volunteer. You won't want to miss it! Grades 1-4 --- Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30 PM Grades 5-8 --- Thursday, September 24 at 6:30 PM Expectation is everything. Research has shown that when parents and teachers have high expectations for a child the child is more successful. Our job as educators, I certainly feel parents are educators, is to make it clear to each individual child that they have unlimited potential. Here are a few suggestions to help make your high expectations clear to your child: 1. Attendance is critical. There really is no way to make up all that is learned in one day. 2. Being on time counts. If a child misses just ten minutes of a school day, in one year that would be more than twenty hours of learning. 3. Remind your child that school is a learning process and everyone does not learn at the same pace. 4. The work really counts; so they should put effort and thought into all of their work. 5. Some children believe school success is all about luck, but they will find that the harder they work the luckier they get. Sincerely Ms. Lisa M. Fasano, Principal "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." ~ Mother Teresa SAVE THE DATES! Join us Curriculum Night for more details....
